Food was INCREDIBLE. I truly am blown away by the quality of ingredients and the complexity of each dish. You can taste the freshness. Nothing is greasy. This Cali Style taco restaurant is top notch! Hidden away at the back of a business park, you are lucky to find it. Located next to a brewery, it has a beachy surf vibe that feels bright and chill. The food is amazing! We tried the Shotski which is an organic blue corn chip dip trio with homemade guacamole, salsa, and queso. Everything was soooo fresh and delicious. We also tried four tacos, Baja shrimp, chicken, jackfruit, and traditional. They all were fresh and tasty! The Mexican Street Corn is to die for!! We ordered a second helping. I discovered Salsa Sam's at the Monroeville Farmers Market and finally made it to the physical location last weekend. As expected (because I have had some of their products at the market) everything was delicious and made fresh to order. The one down side is that tacos are fairly small for the $6 price tag. But you are getting fresh, quality ingredients made to order. Service was wonderful. I was greeted with a warm hello as soon as I walked in the door and they asked if I had ever been there before. I mentioned the Farmer's Market but not the physical store. They told me about some of their customer favorites and I got the shrimp taco. They also had me sample some queso mac and cheese because they had just made a batch for another customer. It was delicious! Overall, I enjoyed my experience and my food and I'm glad that I can get their food year round and don't need to wait for the spring for the Farmer's Market. read more

Who doesn't love a Taco Tuesday?! The Tuesday special for tacos was shrimp, chicken, beef for $3 and steak for $4. Salsa Sam's tacos and food was absolutely incredible. The shrimp and steak were my favorite. You could taste the high quality in the proteins. The salsa was made fresh to order. The street corn was divine!! It truly was Chef's kiss. Rice and beans were good too. I tried to order the queso mac n cheese, but that was the only menu item that could not be produced that day. I will come back to try it. The service was friendly. It did take a bit for the food to be served, but I am hoping that was a one off situation as they seemed to be short staffed. The wait was worth it though! It was all made fresh to order. The good here was wonderful and the staff very accommodating. We were at the Quinn brewery down the hall on Saturday evening to hear some live music. We walked over to Salsa Sam's to get something for dinner. We started with a guacamole and chips. They make the guac fresh for you right while you're standing there. I also ordered a shrimp taco and chicken taco and my date ordered traditional tacos. I thought the shrimp was outstanding and I enjoyed the chicken as well. The service was really great. We put in our order and the counter person advised us that he would make the guacamole so we could take that and get started. I asked if I should come back for the rest of the food but he said he would bring our food over to the brewery when it was ready! Definitely will return! read more

Saw this place when visiting a nearby brewery, and decided to stop in! They are very accommodating and will bring your takeout order to any of the nearby businesses! We ordered the burrito with shrimp, shrimp taco, fish taco, queso Mac and cheese, and shotski dip combo! Everything was fresh and very good. I really enjoyed the shrimp in both the burrito and the taco. It's very chargrilled, and cooked well! The queso is also very good, cheesy with a little spice! First visit thanks to my daughter's recommendations. She could not believe how fabulous all of the salsa dips tasted, and clued me in to this newer taco eatery. However, today was not a salsa day for me because I discovered that Penn State Creamery Ice Cream is also available here, so ice cream ruled. There were 3 flavors available, and usually change once the next Penn State trip occurs to replenish as needed. The shop itself is small, but very quaint, cool, and inviting. The owner was exceptionally friendly, and well-equpped to start, and maintain lively conversation about his background, travels, and the passion he has when it comes to creating healthy, and tasteful products and meals . It is a family run operation, and he and his wife are working hard to offer the community quality food in a comfortable setting. I look forward to the next visit to give the tacos, and salsas a try, and to find out what new ice cream flavors await me. read more

This place is the cutest with small space inside to dine but back yard/ patio for summer is very cool. The owner is so friendly, spent a ton of time talking to us and talking about his restaurant. We just stopped in for ice cream because they are one of the few locations in and around Pittsburgh area that carries the Penn State Creamery ice cream. Everything on the menu is made with top quality, healthier ingredients. Being that he is from Southern California, he brings that flair into his recipes. His food is outstanding. This is not a big box chain restaurant, so don't expect to find a huge menu of commercialized crap. What you will find is a great little atmosphere with a limited menu of absolutely amazing dishes. He prides himself with keeping it small and staying true to the quality of his recipes. You'll taste that with every hit. When we moved to Irwin about a year ago, we stumbled upon this place on one of our first walks through town. The owner is a down-to-earth, friendly guy who has a lot of really interesting stories and experiences to back up his amazing culinary skills! Everything is made fresh and prepared at the counter in front of you. He has a wide assortment of tacos, including some great vegetarian and vegan options, and some truly delicious combinations that I haven't had elsewhere. The homemade queso is what we tried on our first visit there, so now we stop in specifically for that whenever we have guests over just to prove to them how good it is. Everything we've tried from Salsa Sam's is top notch, so well worth the splurge if you're in the mood for some truly good tacos. I absolutely love Salsa Sam's homemade salsas, and I purchase them during "Tomato and Garlic Day" at Phipps Conservatory. My two favorites are the Mango & Strawberry Salsa and The Black & Gold Salsa (Black Bean & Corn)! I was excited to hear that Sam opened a restaurant in Irwin, PA, so when we happened to be in the area on Saturday, we stopped by for dinner. All three of us ordered the MEXICAN STREET CORN BOWL, which was incredible! The bowl includes...brown rice, black beans, roasted red pepper, avocado, roasted corn, onion, cilantro, salsa with jalapeno, cotija cheese, and chipotle, lime sauce. Stop by the next time you are in the area. Sam goes out of his way to make your your experience a pleasant one.
