I highly recommend getting a massage from Deborah Hunter. She listened attentively to my needs beforehand and incorporated them into her techniques during my deep tissue massage. She used hot stones and several techniques I had never experienced before to help soothe my stressed neck and shoulders. She also used a vibration machine which was so soothing and she helped me with breathing throughout the entire massage to ensure I was really relaxed. Even 24 hours later my neck still feels great! Deborah was very nice, polite, the room and bedding were clean, and the atmosphere was perfect. She took time to talk through my intake form with me and make me comfortable. I want to start off with that Deborah's massage techniques may be a perfect fit for others! It's just that for me, it aggravated my back and hip muscles. I think that it had to do mostly with some of the stretching techniques that she uses as there was a pretty aggressive hip opener that immediately had pain shooting up my back. I think my problems respond better to trigger point and myofascial release as opposed to stretching. I had never had a massage like that before so I didn't know it would be problematic for me until we were in it. I would have just chalked it up to "Okay, not for me" if I was just sore yesterday, but I woke up this morning in serious pain and spent about 40 minutes with a lacrosse ball and a roller trying to get my back to settle down. I felt like I needed to write a review for people with similar issues to me: if you have "dead butt syndrome", Lower Crossed Syndrome, or gluteal amnesia, I don't think these techniques will be a good fit for you. read more

I cannot speak more highly of Deborah. Her services are on the pricey end, but her skills and techniques are truly worth it. I've come in with tight muscle pain before and she has had me do some helpful PT exercises to stretch before beginning our massage. I love that she uses hot clothes, hot stones, and a massager throughout the massage- not just to help preserve her hands/joints, but also because it assists in relaxing the muscles and the stones feel really nice. I find her to be professional, thoughtful, listens to what you need both before and during the massage (i.e., pressure), and keeps the space clean. I don't have to worry about clean sheets or towels, and she provides water for after your massage. I highly recommend her (best is 90min, but 60min is the next best especially if you haven't gotten a massage before or it's been a while). read more

Satori Holistic Massage is located at Salon Concepts in Oakley, which is also home to my hair stylist, Amanda, at Bella Rey salon. Amanda had mentioned that Deborah, who owns Satori, is a great MT, so when Satori was offering a Groupon for a one-hour signature massage a couple months ago, I bought it right away. It took several rounds of phone tag to finally get an appointment scheduled with Deborah, but it was well worth the wait. I went in for my appointment today, and we started with the standard medical/massage history questionnaire so she would know how to best customize the massage to my needs. I usually get a massage about once a month, but I've been fairly stressed lately, and I could definitely feel it when she was working on my neck and shoulders. She was great about helping me to relax, though, and by the end of the hour, I felt a lot less knotted up. I'm going to continue to see my regular MT as well, but I already booked another appointment at Satori for July. I treat myself to a massage a few times a year, and over the years have seen a lot of different massage therapists. The only one I always go back to - even if I may see some others in between - is Deborah at Satori Holistic Massage. She gives the absolute, by far and away, best massages and it's always a great, relaxing experience. The only reasons I don't go there exclusively are location (she's about 20-25 minutes from home, so not super convenient) and sometimes I want the ambiance of somewhere fancy-pants like a Woodhouse. Not to say Satori doesn't have nice ambiance, it's just smaller and doesn't have room for some of the waiting room frills of other places. But when the most important piece is getting the best massage, there's nowhere else I'd recommend above Deborah at Satori. read more

I found Debbie on Groupon. Thankfully the certificate from Groupon had that it was inside salon lofts and the unit number, I find them a little difficult to navigate, this one is in a shopping center. Debbie was on time with my massage, she had me fill out a short health survey before we started. She went over it with me to make sure I didn't have any medical issues and reviewed the ones that I had checked off. The room was well appointed comfortable with relaxing music, dim lights, temperature was perfect. The massage was different from ones I had had before at other locations, she does a little bit more of the stretching of the neck and shoulders where I have most of my issues. She made sure the pressure was good for me when It got a little too deep. When it was all done I noticed she had spent a little extra time with me whether the review or the actual massage, I'm not sure.The massage felt great! She made sure I knew the importance of drinking a lot of water before and after a massage and supplied me with a bottle to go. She does offer a discount if you book again with her before you leave. Overall she was very nice very accommodating in I would recommend her. If I had the money I would do this every other week! read more

I've been seeing Deborah for several years and would never go anywhere else. I always do 90 minutes and because she is so intuitive, the massage is never the same. She just knows if I need more back and shoulder work, or if my stress level is off the charts, or if I need extra stretching, my sciatica is making a threat, or just totally overall relaxing. It's rare to find a massage therapist that can diagnose and treat by touch alone with very little instruction. Can't recommend her highly enough. read more

Although this was my first professional massage, I thought it was amazing here. The warm welcoming atmosphere is genuine. I really liked that I was sat down with and Deborah asked if I had any questions and we went over any areas I was feeling more stressed in on my body. It's good to see that someone got a massage here. I tried. I really tried. I had a Groupon for this place which expired at the end of August. So, at the beginning of August I called Satori. I got the answering machine and left a message. A few days later I had a voice mail from Satori, so I called back. This time, I got no return call. After awhile I tried again. After a few days she called back and said she was booked through August but would honor the Groupon in September. Great! So I called back and suggested 4 days and times during her business hours when I was available for an appointment. A week passed with no response. So I called again. Four days later I called again. Two days later I called again. Then I sent an email. This was a couple of weeks ago and I still have not heard back. I'll assume she decided not to honor the Groupon at all. I never would have been so persistent if not for the Groupon and I certainly won't bother in the future. There are dozens of good massage therapists within a 5 mile radius who will actually return calls and book appointments. I'll stick with one of them. read more

Now I go to her 1-2 times a month and no longer take any muscle relaxers. I have had massages at other places, but none have been as good as Deborah. Since moving to Cincinnati 3 years ago, I have been looking to find a massage therapist that could even come close to my favorite massage therapist in my old city. Yesterday, I found her. Having had only lackluster experiences since moving here, my expectations were not that great. Deborah's calming and kind spirit was the first thing I noticed about her. After filling out some standard questions for new customers, she took me into the massage room and talked with me for 15 minutes about how my body is involved in my work, things to look out for, what I was looking for in a massage, and she encouraged me to give her feedback if I needed any more or less during the massage, assuring me this massage was for me and she wanted to do everything in her power to make it so. It was completely individualized, which in my opinion, a massage should be. The massage itself was spectacular. She went directly to the spots that needed attention and checked in with me several times. As a professional classical singer, she even massaged me throat! I'd never experienced that before but I was hooked. I booked another appointment before leaving. Can't wait for my next session with Deborah! If I could, I'd give her 6 stars. read more

I bought one massage thru Groupon, and thought the massage was pretty good. Deborah Hunter talked me into 2 more massages at a discounted rate - but I had to do it that day. So I paid for the 2 additional massages for a future date - to be determined. These would not be thru Groupon. Groupon has no responsibility and can give me no protection on the additional paid for massages. I do have medical issues - Fibromyalgia, Chronic Pain, arthritis, recent back surgery, (2) neck fusions, all due to an 'uninsured Insurance Executive" rear-ending my car in 2008. I did explain all of this to Deborah. A few weeks after my massage, I went to my neurosurgeon regarding my continuing, extreme neck pains. Thru x-rays and MRI's, it was determined that my fusions have failed, and actually one screw had gone thru the bone - all my discs in my neck are bad. My doctor had me cancel my new Anderson Healthplex membership, and told me to nothing involving my neck - no exercising, massages, etc. He gave me letters to give to all. After numerous attempts to reach deborah, I got thru just prior to my next message & explained that my doctor did not want me to do anything involving my neck, and offered her his letter. Therefore, I needed to cancel the appointment and get a refund for the 2 extra visits. She said fine. Since that time, I have called and get a voice message then it rings & rings - not allowing any messages to be left. I've called the Salon in Oakley, that she has her room for her Massages, they cannot take any messages for her. ****When I am well enough, I will go over and try to get a refund due me. She has been avoiding me - emails, phone calls. I hate someone being unprofessional. I reached her in time to cancel my appointment. I feel I am due a refund, or at least transfer the massages to my son. She has not allowed me any options, just ignores me. This is not very professional, however, I am willing to work things out. But it appears, she is not interested. I am shocked, as i really believed she was trying to help me with all my issues. read more
