The reason I'm bumping up this review to five stars is because I lost my Fitbit there (Fitbit Zip, an old one that sits on my waist, not my watch) and when my husband and I got to Kern's and realized it, we rushed back to the store to check there first (it was 530pm). The (owner? Employee?) welcomed us back, and another customer immediately pointed to it on the floor. Saved us a lot of hassle and had they closed immediately at 530pm, the doors may have been locked. Looking forward to checking this store out again the next time we are in town.

On our initial visit to the store we spent over an hour, like it were a museum. This isn't the dime store, so know that you'll be paying a hefty price for most any clock here. Again, it's an investment that justifies the price. This is also your place for authentic German Christmas pyramids. We bought the pyramid with Seiffen church for under $100. A neat little wooden pyramid with a German church, carolers and a Christmas tree. When the tea lights are lit, the rising heat causes the blades to turn. It was and for good reason- it's the sister store of a home decor shop in Tawas City that I remember shopping last summer. That store was super cute and kinda eclectic and so was this one. The store just opened in April and is very much like the shop up north. They mirror each other pretty well, from layout and service to selection and price point. Customer service was nice and attentive and the stock was ample, showcasing plenty of "farmhouse chic" type of decor- candles, vases, furniture, clocks, artwork, signage, etc, much of it in a rustic, upcycled motif. The prices are kinda on the high end for even simple items, but the furniture was pretty reasonably priced. Some of the pieces are pretty garden variety and nothing that unique or that you can't get at Target for much less, but other items (larger pieces) are rather interesting and worth a real look. Overall, a nice store with great service and a mid-range price point for the most part.

The store is full of eclectic and vibrant decor that will speak to the hearts of artists everywhere, ranging from clothing, to furniture, to toys and museum quality gifts. It has a variety of quirky finds that I've never seen before. The intention here is almost like a local gallery exalting each stunning piece of art, no matter how small. The pieces ranged from the very tiny porcelain dog, which was about the size of your thumb, to the very large bears, that were furry and taller than me. Colorful, diverse art dotted the walls and were displayed in all different living room themes for all different tastes and styles of home. This was a clever idea. You could picture the decor in your own home. "Buy local" is the intention here and deteriorating properties were bought up by the owner and given a stunning facelift to elevate the community. This was a closed down roller rink. There was also a cinema next door that turned to a gift shop and off beat eatery. The unique history of each is preserved in the original artifacts throughout. Being that this is art focused and unique, don't have the expectation of Walmart prices. Of course you're getting one-of-a-kind quality pieces that will make your heart sing when you see your selected art displayed proudly in your home. It's quite festive and nice for a browse. They have all sizes is trees and some real ones as well. I can smell the subtle scent of Frazier fir inside or is it is in my head and what I want to smell inside this mask? This location is not as chaotic as the bigger one by my house in Troy. There is so much to choose from during Thanksgiving and Christmas, and lots of it is marked 50% off or more after the holidays. Besides holiday décor, I found several really cute planters on my last visit. The pink and white face planter only cost $7.99. I've seen face planters at garden nurseries for as much as $50, so this was a good deal. The green "plant lover" planter was only $2.99. This is a good place to shop for anyone looking for inexpensive holiday and year-round decorations for one's office, cubicle, classroom, or home. There is also a section with generic brand snacks and cleaning products.
