Years ago, I broke my wrist really badly, and they did my surgery, and then all the therapy I…read moreneeded to be able to use it as before. They took excellent care of me, and I have had no issues with it since the accident. I recently had them check out my artificial hip, which, after many years, has started popping out of joint. I originally had the hip done at Augusta Medical College, but it now needs a revision. Dr. Holtzclaw examined me and is a good man to deal with. I am now waiting on clearances from other physicians to have it fixed. The front office personnel treat you like family. If I could give 7 stars, I would!

I had a generally positive experience with the medical side of Chatham Orthopedics. The doctors and…read morenurses I interacted with were professional, respectful, and provided good care overall. That said, my experience with the billing and payment process was extremely frustrating. Before surgery, while I was injured, vulnerable, and had not even had time to collect a paycheck, I received multiple separate payment demands. The surgery center told me I needed to pay about $2,000 up front and indicated that was the only up-front payment I would be responsible for. Then the physician's office contacted me requesting another $1,500 and also represented that as the only payment I needed to make. After that, the anesthesiologist contacted me requesting roughly another $1,000 before surgery. It felt relentless and deeply stressful at a time when I was already dealing with a serious injury and preparing for surgery. I ultimately paid the surgery center, but the whole process became even more frustrating because my insurance out-of-pocket maximum is $3,500. Because of the way these charges were handled, my insurance has been slow to catch up, and I have had to keep paying money out of pocket even though I should be at or near the point where my insurance covers 100%. I understand that medical billing is complicated, but the way this was handled felt disorganized and unnecessarily aggressive. The care itself was good, and I respect the nurses and doctors, but the financial experience left a very bad impression.

Optim Orthopedic SUCKS!!! Three stricks and your out!!!…read more If you like being treated with disrespect and like mindless cattle being hearded to slaughter go to OPTIM ORTHOPEDIC. Liked doctor OK seems to know what he is doing but is too rushed to hear what you are saying or listen to anything new. I HATE office staff and office manager refused to come to talk with me for the second time today. They will not get another penny of my money they are not the only group in town and the other group worked on me for a Workers Comp and were 100 times nicer. The only problem is my insurance has alreay paid for my MRI and they keep making excuses why I can not ge a copy of the MRI - I called insurance company and advise and they are going to demand a copy be mailed to me or they will recover full refund and make me not liable for the bill so a new doctor can make one. Today I wated 45 min for a copy to be made asked for office manager. The girl left came back 1 min later said supervisor on phone and office manager wanted to know what I wanted before she would walk up to front. I told receoptionist she walked off came back 1 min later and said supervisor said to have a seat and she would be with me in 10 - 15 min when she finished her call. I told them I already waited 45 min and I could not wait any longer that this was my third attempt to get a copy. I have had every excuse under the book given to me from I have to see the doctor before they will give me a copy, the girl is done to lunch and their machine is broken. At this point my insurance can deal with them. But they need to know that word of mouth and social media could real hurt their business.

They couldn't really explain why it was so expensive, but they wouldn't remove the charge either. His office basically dared us to send a letter to their billing department. Don't make the mistake I made. If you are referred to this doctor, don't go to him or else you are risking being overcharged. There are other doctors out there.

I am a new patient. Dr. Winchell appears OK. However, his support staff sucks. His assistants are…read morerather unprofessional. They are rather impolite and I have not seen them with a smile on their face. My prescription was not called in. Went to my pharmacy 30 minutes away from where I live and no prescription. I called the office and left two separate voicemails. No call back. Before writing this message I called the office manager and asked to speak to Dr. Winchell specifically stating I had a complaint. They did not put me through, and to date, Dr. Winchell has not called me back. Still waiting for my prescription. 10 days after seeing the Doctor. I guess I will now have to look for another Orthopedic Surgeon.

Adequate pain control is amazing! Doc assistant said there was a lot of popping during procedure…read morethat was scar tissue. I have a pop that feels like components are binding then popping. It is consistently at the same degree when extending and flexing. I called doc's assistant but he thinks its scar tissue. I told him I have had scar tissue popping after the first manipulation and this is way different! He said he'd get back with me. I'm a bit worried about that aspect of it only. Knee is straightening awesomely, and bending to 130° during procedure and during therapy to 115° thus far. PT hurt really bad today til I shed some tears. However, it was much better experience than previous post-manipulation therapy in from another physician/therapist. Unlike previous ordeal with other doctor, this time I did not sprain my neck during PT and I was never put to the point of that would have been counterproductive! Thank you Dr Mark Winchell, Savannah Bone and Joint , for your concern for my welfare outside of the office to ensure that I didn't injury myself further by giving the extra protection of the brace and crutches. Also for understanding that things that are generally done may not fit this not so general case. The femoral block was a great success just as you assured me that it would be with your confidence in St. Joseph's/Candler 's anesthesiologists. Pain has been the least of my concerns for the most part which has enabled me to follow the therapist orders concerning the exercise regiment even more than I had imagined possible. With all this being said, I move throughout my tasks thinking and saying aloud, "Scar tissue is not gonna get a chance, Flexion has no choice but to increase, and Extension will remain zero'd out! Granted that my pain medications maybe doing their job and then some (LOL)...but these are very sincere words from my heart. I am very confident that I will have a excellent outcome, whether it ends with this procedure or not!
