Sav-Your-Money!! Sav-A-Tree is disingenuous and disorganized and heartless. My family engaged the Bloomfield, Connecticut office for their advice on saving our Mother's beloved Rose of Sharon tree. When we initially met with their arborist, we were clear that the tree had sentimental value and that we'd be willing to invest in it's health, but we asked for their realistic prognosis as it didn't make sense to spend big bucks on a project that might be destined to fail. The arborist told us it looked like an easy fix (just some pruning, a little fertilization and a brace for a cracked branch). Sav-A-Tree proceeded to charge us upwards over $900 for the job which was done over two visits. Several months later, we are almost $1,000 out-of-pocket, staring at a dead tree. Granted... nobody messes with Mother Nature... but my Mom is heart broken about the dead tree in her yard, and the money spent at the encouragement of this company. When a Sav-A-Tree rep came to survey the situation, he was unfamiliar with the work that had been done and, initially, could not find the company's record for having braced the tree, which clearly was their plan from the beginning. He went so far to accuse us of having someone else do that part of the job. Eventually he "located" and their tree bracing documentation and, conveniently construed his records to absolve the company from any responsibility whatsoever. The kicker? When my 93-year-old mom asked them to please at least just cut down the tree and take it away. Their answer was "Sorry, not our problem." So much for customer service and good faith. The business replied acting like there was some sort of misunderstanding and that they could change services after the fact. There is no misunderstanding. I reviewed anti-consumer behavior. If I tell somebody up front I don't want recurring services and they force me to sign up for them anyway, that warrants a poor review. Several weeks ago, I contacted Garrett, Licensed Arborist at SavaTree in Bloomfield to visit my property to inspect my trees, arborvitae, and hemlocks. Garrett visited with me and provided excellent advice/suggestions and I concurred with him. He provided a very timely, complete and reasonable estimate to remove one of my trees, couple of hemlocks, work on an injured tree and perform some required pruning of other trees. The following week 3 technicians from SavaTree came to my property to perform the work. The technicians were Leo, Devon, and Brian. These gentlemen have performed other tree work/pruning for me in the past and did an OUTSTANDING JOB! Once again, the work of Leo, Devon and Brian was OUTSTANDING! The removal of one of my trees and a few hemlocks was done just as I had requested. The repair to one of my injured trees was done beautifully and the pruning made my trees look much better. These 3 gentlemen are courteous, friendly, very knowledgeable and do impeccable work - very neat!!. With a team led by Garrett, the Arborist, Leo, Devon and Brian, you are in excellent hands. I am very fussy about my lawn, trees, and shrubs and I will have no one other than SAVATREE perform all of my landscape work (e.g. lawn treatments, feeding trees, arborvitae, application of organic tick treatments, and tree care and tree pruning. Angel and his Crew#3 showed up. Angel reviewed the quote and asked what I expected and made sure I knew it was going to be a drastic cut- 2 crab apple trees over 30 years old and never maintained. I had to leave but when I returned I could not believe my eyes! The work was incredible!! Beyond my expectations! This crew was respectful, tidied up after and I hope left knowing that they made a customer happy! read more

They may do great work, I don't know, as they gave me an estimate, which I approved, and was told I was put on their "list" for October (got the estimate in August or Sept). I never heard from them again. If they are as reliable as that, I'm glad I didn't hire them​ read more

SavATree has done two jobs for me in the last few years. I had a Maple in my backyard that promptly dropped all of it's new spring leaves and Bruce came out and determined it was beyond saving. He took it down but we were unable to have him grind the stump due to the fence in my backyard prohibiting the entry of the large stump grinder. This year it was my Japanese Maple in my front yard that went through the fall, lost it's leaves and never grew them back again when spring came around. He came out, gave us a good estimate, took it down very cleanly (not tons of sawdust left in the yard), took away the wood and a week or so later (after "call before you did" came out to confirm the area was ok for the stump grinder) returned to grind the stump. Everything was tidy, professional and good. Though they've yet to "Sav" my trees they've done me right with great service and great prices. read more
