I enjoy going to Savemart here in Paradise. The store is clean with bright, wide aisles and the produce is better than Safeways' down the road. I don't shop here to get a bargain, but it's convenient being located off a main drag. The customer service is always exceptional and even the baggers are pleasant. One complaint I do have is the deli department. I have never ordered anything directly from them but the folks behind the counter are quite loud and talk about non- work related stuff. Where do I start with this place... Gouging prices that make no sense, weird gimmicks for groceries, and discriminatory practices that are really disappointing to witness. The selection is decent, but it doesn't outweigh how terrible this place makes me feel every time I visit, so I stopped. As a vendor who works outside of Savemart, I have to go to the back to deal with this one person that is so intolerable, and I don't know how they have hired her and she treats everyone like this, Her name is Julie , she is the receiver of this hell hole, the store is so slow, but she acts like she owns the store. She is a receiver, not the manager, Her attitude is so disrespectful and so abrasive, she needs to be told to calm down. She does not own the store. We know what we're doing. I have been going to sav mart in Paradise a couple times a month for the last 2 years, mostly to buy what is on sale or to get a couple things instead of going all the way to Chico. Most of there prices are not reasonable. If you buy items that are on sale you have to setup an account and then clip coupons to go to your account which is a real pain. Half the time when I go to checkout and use a coupon there is an issue. Like I said a real pain and that's why I make a big grocery list and then go to Winco in Chico. Now to the real reason I'm writing this review. On Saturday August 30th I went into Sav mart in Paradise and it was pretty busy because of the holiday coming up. I went to self checkout and the manager says I could not buy beer at self checkout, so I say to him it's non alcoholic beer and he says it doesn't matter it's still beer, so I got in line at the regular checkout. Here we go with the coupon game again. I clipped a coupon for hamburger meat and the regular price was 5.99 a pound and the coupon price is 3.97 a pound. The package I had was about 3 pounds, because it was not the max pack the manager would not honor the price, even though it was the same grade of meat and the same regular price. The clerk was not friendly nor the manager and the clerk did not even try to bag my groceries. Look I'm a customer and the reason the manager and clerk have a job period is because of customers. If you don't have customers Sav Mart then you don't have a business period. For 42 years of my life I dealt with the public and never had a complaint against me because i took care of my customers and I knew I had my job because of customers. With that said Sav Mart get with the program and treat your customers like family. Put a smile on your face and do what ever it takes to make your customer happy. P. S. I shgop at this store at least a few times a week. 4 days ago I lost my car and house keys somewhere in the store.Had a friend bring me to the store this morningandthey had found my keys saving me hundreds of dollars! Thank you so much folks!!! read more

Well to start I only ever shop here when a trip to Chico is to inconvenient or if I need a few basic things. The prices are ridiculous for just about everything besides alcohol. Twice I've bought garlic bread here and have found that it started to mold over a huge disappointment when I have dinner on the stove. I remember long before the fire when I was a kid this store was a pretty decent choice for essentials and since the closing of Holiday Market it's the only choice for anyone here besides going to Magalia it would be nice if they stepped up their game a bit. Y'all this place is horrible with their pricing like 5.49 for 1 thing of cream cheese at Walmart it's 3.50 for 2! A little bag of grapes was 8.99 at Walmart in oroville it's 4 bucks max. I needed 2 cans of coffee to give to the guys working late at the church. All the stores were closed! Including this one. But the manager came to the door and I told her about the coffee and she opened up and let me buy them after closing. I didn't get her name, she is nice with blonde hair. read more

My favorite place to shop. Great prices and selection. The staff is so friendly and helpful. The bakery/deli staff are so nice and fast. Getting dinner is so easy because they something for everyone in my family in the hotcase. Love there salads also. read more

The only reason we've ever gone here is because it is cheap. We have repeatedly received terrible service by one of their clerks, somehow she always seems to be the only one with an open checkout line. She asks our children how they are enjoying school every time and every time they tell her that they are homeschooled. Then she rolls her eyes and makes a disapproving face. She's even lectured us on "socialization." We have one school in our district, and they have utterly failed our children academically and socially. We live almost an hour from any other schools. Our kids deserve a quality education. So, they are homeschooled by myself and my husband, who, between the two of us have three graduate degrees. She has no right to judge us or our educational choices. Our children are learning Latin, German, gymnastics, karate, Guitar, Violin, Piano, Philosophy, Yoga, meditation, along with all the basic core subjects. They are both beyond their peers in all subject areas and getting to spend quality time with dedicated, loving parents. I hope that the store supervisor posts a copy of this for his employees to read. My children are well educated, it is time that this woman was as well. We only go here after going to the grocery outlet for everything else. We get our veggies from our own garden, raise our own meat, and get our milk from our own goats. We only need a handful of basics every month. From now on, we are taking our family to Safeway. read more

I usually shop at Safeway but lately I have been doing my shopping at Save Mart. And it is all because of Phil, from Hawaii. Not only does he remind of the island home that I miss so dearly but he is the true embodiment of the aloha spirit. Always smiling, laughing, super kind hearted, and spreading joy and aloha wherever he goes. He makes me so proud to be from Hawaii! I recently called asking for a pumpkin donation for a fundraiser I am helping with at work and I was transferred over to the customer service desk to someone named Julie. I have never spoken to a more inexperienced, rude, and just outright informal employee as I have today. Right when I asked if they were going to be selling pumpkins this year she interrupted me to say she didn't know what I was talking about. I remained calm and tried to explain that I was interested in applying for a donation from which she immediately put me on hold for an un-specified reason. I waited on hold until she got back on the phone and said rudely-"You still there?" I have shopped here before and I have never had a problem with customer service until now. I did not deserve to be treated so unfairly and rudely by this person. If they are not interested in making donations to worthwhile causes then DO NOT post on your website that you are. I will be coming in this afternoon to not only give my donation request directly to the manager, Paul, but I will also be talking to him about this employee. read more

It's a great store with great employees and so much better than that rotten Safeway where they don't give a fig about the customer. I like Save Mart so much better than Safeway or Raley or any little discount grocery store. They are always friendly and helpful. I even commended them and their store manager to the corporate office. Positive feedback is what these employees deserve! Keep up the great work...ALOHA!!! read more
