I buy Tin Roof Bakery items at the farmer's markets all the time. I hadn't been in the restaurant in a few years. I went in around 9 am and there were few bakery items, guess I got there too late. I ordered their last ham and cheese croissant and a coffee. They didn't heat the ham and cheese up they microwaved it and turned the flakey croissant into a rubbery brown thing - NEVER microwave croissants unless you are at home and like them that way. So the croissant is mouth burning hot so I drank my lukewarm coffee while I waited to the croissant to cool down enough to eat. Croissant microwaved too hot and coffee too cold. I don't plan on going back if that is their service level. read more

In Chico you know tin roof bread is popular, this is my first time trying at the source. The croissant is amazing warmed up. The unfriendly service had me a tiny bit uncomfortable, and I'm not an extrovert so my expectations are low. The Coffee is very bright, fruity, bitter and extremely sour which isn't really the profile I look for with coffee so personal preference. Ambiance is mid, cold, but clean . Think cliche industrial cafe. I would possibly come back as off days happen and while prices aren't listed (bougie) the sweets cabinets did look amazing. read more

Came in at 12PM so most bakery items were sold out! Would recommend coming earlier in the day to get their full selection. We actually found Tin Roof through the Saturday Market and those pastries are insanely good. Scones are not too sweet, one of our favorites, Morning Bun is a must have. Almond Croissant was very tasty as well. We ended up showing up at their bakery just downtown. Soup of the day: minestrome. Vegetarian, very tasty with a strong tomato base, balanced well with lots of veggies and pasta. This was with their tuna melt as a combo and that tuna melt was sooooo goooooood. Today I went to the Sunday farmers market and noticed you have a spot here to sell you pastries. I also saw you at the Wednesday market but you were all out of pastries. I so love a lemon anything....today there was a lemon croissant- here was me thinking it was going to have a nice crunch and buttery taste - no such thing. By wrapping all of the croissant type items in Saran Wrap really takes away from what a croissant should have is a crunchier exterior. My pastry was soggy and dry at the same time it this makes sense. It's almost like it was wrap right after coming out of the oven. There was a person in front of me experiencing the same with her plain croissant. She felt each Saran wrapped item and every one of them have the same day old feel. When you're charging upwards of $6 for a croissant why would you wrap it in Saran Wrap get a proper staging rack. Also imagine the savings you have from not wrapping all of you pastries in wrap - the planet will also thank you. (Here's to hoping the cheese sticks are better, but these too are in a plastic bag. This has quickly become one of my favorite coffee spots in Chico! Their coffee is great, and I can't get enough of their turkey cranberry sandwich on a flaky croissant--it's seriously delicious! But the real star for me is their unique donut-croissant hybrid; it's one of my all-time favorite pastries here! great to pair with a good old americano! Unfortunately this place does not compensate their employees well. Baker positions start at minimum wage, no tips and no benefits. Probably the lowest paying baking position I've ever seen. Company changed ownership February 2023, seems like there's been issues since then. New owners are the same owners of West Coast Sourdough company, which has subpar standards in comparison to what tin roof bakery used to be. read more

Decided to give them a chance, after about 5 years, after they closed 2 hours before they're posted time, even though they were in there and they were just messing around because they hire children here, telling us that they wouldn't open the door. Was trying to find a good tune amount and decided to give them another chance. Ordered through the only online option I could which was toast, and within 5 minutes of my order got an email from toast saying that tin roof has yet to confirm my order and I need to call them. I called them three times in the span of 30 minutes and not only did no one answer but it didn't even connect to a voicemail service so I had no idea if it was even the right number, the number both on Google and their website. No evidence I was calling a business at all. I was ordering from about 30 minutes plus distance away so it was a really big deal having to go out of my way to pick this order up because this was not the direction I was going otherwise. But toast refused to help me and had no way to contact anyone customer service related except if you were the business. I told them to just refund me because I'm not going to drive out of my way to pick up an order to a restaurant that may not even freaking be open or know that I placed an order and toast refused to help me in any shape or form so never order through them! Got here to pick up my order and it was clear they never even received it and I was here about 35 minutes to 40 minutes after I placed it. And instead of just being honest and saying it never came through in their system or they didn't bother to check they just made it while I stood there for 15 minutes never once admitting they never even received it. Went to order a cake and the brown haired girl behind the counter, was very short and not engaging at all and had to go back because she didn't ask if I wanted anything written on it. When I went to pick it up later that week, I walked in and while waiting the same girl didn't greet me for a couple of minutes. A simple, "Hi, I'll be right with you?", would have gone a long way. Im writeing this review cause couple of Saturday's ago i would say around 1/18/25 i went there for my first time and i noticed how busy it was thats fine good for them im sure but i desided to walk out cause how slow the line was and plus no sitting at all so i came again today around 10;30 /10am or so the same reason slow line and this time it was around the corner inside i got a couple of peanut butter cookies and they were fire!! it was really good but the reason im giveing it a 2 star is because how slow it was and i won't be back some advice i would to give is there needs to be some sorta of handie cap a least 1 hour would be fine per table cause how small the place is And i did notice there was outside sitings area which is nice as well thats the main reason im giveing it a 2 star and i would no problem give a better review if the problems are fixed intill then im giveing it a 2 star read more

Let me start by saying this is one of my favorite coffee shops in Chico. I was devastated when it temporarily closed and was excited when it reopened. Everything I've ever had here is absolutely amazing and therefore I will be continuing to come back but not as much because of the recent customer service experience I've had. The last three or four times I've gone in there it hasn't been super busy and I have ordered a sandwich and a coffee. Sometimes the sandwich is cold and sometimes it's warmed up. The last times I've been there they've forgotten my sandwich and I've had to ask for it after I've received my coffee. Although the lady that has been making my coffee does an amazing job; my coffee is always delicious. I have seen her give customers dirty looks(specifically younger jock type dudes) and she seems to be completely bored and not wanting to be there. I feel like I've had numerous people take my order and they do the bare minimum with greetings etc. I really enjoy the food/coffee here and the space is small but cute. I will continue to go here but now it won't be my top choice unfortunately. read more

We don't live in Chico but this place always pops into mind when me or the girlfriend happens to be in town. Maybe it was a bad morning, I get it the holidays can be rough, but when you're unpleasant over the phone it definitely doesn't make someone want to come to the store and deal with you. She didn't say anything rude per say, but your tone and euphemisms go a long way in customer service. Pretty much a no brainer. Great bakery! We ordered the morning bun, and ham and cheese croissant. Super flakey and delicious. The morning bun is different from what I used to eat as a kid. I remember them being more sticky. Ordered Tuna melt I was expecting mayonnaise... cheese....I didn't really have time to read the ingredients because they asked me what I wanted the minute I walked in the door which I despise. can I have some time to read the menu and then walk up to the counter? so anyway I went ahead and ordered that and when I got it it smelled delicious took a bite it tasted odd. I was going to eat inside but there was another customer coughing so I chose to eat out in my car. When I open the sandwich to see what the strange taste was it was olives!!!I hate olives and they were cut so tiny I couldn't pick them out. As well as red onions and other things I didn't recognize. that's why it did not taste like tuna or cheese. The bread was excellent.
