I got my Shih Tzu here almost 10 years ago. They are friendly, offer tips on the pet you adopt and make the entire adoption process seamlessly easy. Bowie came to us after being rehomed multiple times in his almost 2 years of life. None of the issues for his rehoming were ever seen. The staff is friendly and willing to answer any and all questions. All the animals we saw were well taken care of, nonaggressive, and relaxed. I loved that the animals were responsive to the staff as well as visitors. Keep up the good job, Saving Grace Staff! Y'all are rockstars! read more

My experience with Saving Grace was wonderful. We had to have our cat of 22 years put down due to kidney disease. His health had been declining. Even though we were very sad. We decided that we would open our home to another cat. The staff at Saving Grace was very welcoming. We, filled out an adoption application and were shown the room where the kittens were. We looked at many kittens. And. Finally I picked a little boy kitten named Lefty. I fell in love with him. What surprised me was how easy it was to adopt my kitty. No hassels or waiting. And for the $ 100 adoption fee, it covered his vaccinations, neutering & a chip implant. I am so happy with him. . He is so sweet .I will recommend this shelter to anyone looking for a dog or cat. We adopted a kitten and were given ointment for his eyes and told it was normal for a kitten to have watery eyes sometimes. Turns out it was sick and has now infected our other cat. Have spent so much money at the vet already because of your negligence. read more

My cat was taken in to Saving Grace and was there for one day and they put her down. She was elderly but healthy she was eating fine and not sick. An elderly friend of ours was driving through Roseburg with her cat when she had an emergency medical situation and pulled into the rest stop. Thankfully, a policeman was patrolling the area and had an ambulance come take her to the hospital. He locked up her car and sweetly took her cat to Saving Grace to hold until arrangements could be made. They were not pleased with this. I live in Salem, hours away. They called me in the evening, foaming at the mouth and furious to be bothered with this cat. They said they had no room for it, even though the cat was in its own kennel with its own bedding and dishes. They called so late that I didn't have time to get there before they closed that evening. I said I would come the next day, and I did. But they called me many, many times, threatening that if I didn't come get that cat that they were going to sell it or send it to the pound. The one woman that called me the most was so rude that I would even say she was an outright B-word. When I got there, they insisted I sign paperwork that they were not responsible for anything in the situation, which made absolutely no sense. Then, B-word sent a girl to follow us out to the car to verify we put the kennel in our trunk. We noted that there were plenty of empty cages there when we picked up the cat, so "we don't have room" and the threats of selling the cat were just bizarre. This cat was someone's beloved baby. Saving Grace? That name is completely inaccurate. read more

We adopted two kittens from Saving Grace, and the experience was amazing. We lost a beloved cat, and this was a very emotional adoption. Several other shelters could not be bothered, but Saving Grace was incredible. No appointments, no waiting list, and the staff was fantastic. A big shout out to Danny for her personal attention. Our kittens are making themselves at home, and I recommend this shelter 100 percent to find that perfect furry friend. read more

We are very impressed by the great job everyone does at Saving Grace! The pain-free adoption process (compared to the "others" who demand way too much personal information to adopt their cats) was fast and friendly. A smooth transaction for little Tuppence/Bambi was complete 4 days later when our older kitty accepted Tuppence as her foster daughter. The only downside is that we wish we could adopt more of their animals. read more

My grandkids love to go to Saving Grace to see the animals, it is always clean and organized and they encourage contact with the animals. Over Thanksgiving we went to see a cute puppy named Ginger Bread and two days later we brought her home! (We dropped the 'bread ' and just call her Ginger.) She is now 5 mo. old, loving, playful and rambunctious, everyone loves her. Grandkids live in Calif. and have been doing FaceTime to see Ginger. They want to see her badly so Ginger is traveling for Christmas! Thank You Saving Grace for this wonderful puppy and the good work you do! read more

I brought a stray kitten, that wondered onto our property, and had a wounded eye to Saving Grace. They told me they would neutered the kitten and heal her wounded eye. I paid the $10.00 for her to be adopted out. 3 days later, they dropped this kitten off at my property and drove away. This kitten had half its ear removed, with here stomach shaved and her eye was bleeding. Never did they tell me they would drop it off at my property. Not to mention, I have a P. O. Box address and how did they access my home address. I clearly told them my husband and I are disabled, on a limited income, and have 5 cats of our own. This kitten came directly to our back porch upon them dumping her off. I have never seen an eye cut off like this ever. I have seen them notched, but not cut off. There practices are not right, morally or ethically. They should have notified me or at least told me of these practices up front. Make sure you know your rights before you go there. read more

We adopted our Toby Pugs di Bistecca from Saving Grace nearly 10 years ago. I REALLY needed another pug, and the staff were so caring and helpful! I stopped in one day to put my name on the list for a pug .. I didn't care what sex, colour, age, or health issues there were, but I had been pug-less long enough. They called me within a week. He was such a blessing to our family! He even had his own Facebook page. When he went to the Rainbow Bridge at age 13, we decided to give another shelter pug from Saving Grace his spot in our home, as he would have wished. We contacted Saving Grace, and before long, our sweet Clara della Pranza was introduced to us. Needless to say, she has joined our family and I'm thrilled, as I'm sure Toby is. I had a wonderful experience two years ago adopting a rescue dog. She is sweet and fun and loving! So on the 20th of this month I went back to rescue another pup..., we looked and talked about the right one for over an hour! We sat down and decided which one we wanted, and began filling out the paperwork. Everyone was so helpful and kind trying to get us the pup we wanted. However we where approached by a rude, smug, and grumpy older woman with shoulder length hair dyed black and a pudgy round and very pock marked face. She only asked two questions... first do you have any large dogs, and did you bring them with you...? We said no large dogs and she explained that the dog we chose was adverse to large dogs... fine. Then did you bring your dogs? No we didnt because its 90 degrees and we where planning on spending time with the dogs to choose the right one then bring ours back for a meet and greet.... this woman simply said if you didnt bring your dogs you cant have her and just turned and walked away...! How are they supposed to help animals with attitudes like that? Didnt offer us an appointment to come back, didnt offer any options, and was not only rude but completely unreasonable!!! I didnt catch a name, but avoid her at all cost! We unfortunatly will not be back! read more

DO NOT ADOPT FROM HERE! We adopted an adorable 2 month old kitten who we were told had all his vaccines and up to date on all deworming, ear mites treatment etc. we took him to his complimentary exam 4 days later at our local vet who we trust and love and were told he has worms, ear mites and there was NO indication that these had been treated as my paperwork stated. We payed for our kitten to have the treatments and immediately called the shelter to figure out what was going on! We were never told he had ear mites, worms or any existing issues and they refused to help us. We spoke to the manager who said they cannot guarantee that the animal does or does not have worms or ear mites and they can be adopted out with pre existing issues without the adoptive parent being told. THATS WRONG. They offered for me to return our kitten that our children have already grown attached to and love and found a place in our hearts and that just isn't going to happen. We were NEVER told our kitten had worms or ear mites at our consult and we were at the shelter for over an hour. All of my paperwork given to me at that consult does not indicate he has those either. Point being, do not adopt an animal from this shelter. They may or may not have a pre existing issue that you will never be told about until you take them to your vet and the problem gets worse for them and more expensive for you. We have no intentions of returning our kitten, we will take care of the issues and love him just as much as before but we would have appreciated a heads up and an honest consult from this shelter. read more
