Savory Roots offers a wide variety of delicious food, but what truly sets them apart is their staff. They are consistently professional, attentive, and work seamlessly with our venue and other vendors to ensure everything runs smoothly. Their coordination and attention to detail make a significant difference. Melanie Armstrong, in particular, was amazing. She supported us through every step of the planning process, and her suggestions were truly invaluable. In addition, the food is outstanding. We especially enjoyed the Tomahawk carving station this year--and trust me when I say you absolutely MUST order the bacon-wrapped dates. They are phenomenal! Our wedding took place in Dade City which is conveniently located near Savory Roots. We searched for a while for a caterer for our wedding that checked all the boxes. Savory Roots checked all the boxes for us. They offer food and bar at a reasonable price, and with competitive pricing it seemed to others in the general area. Before fully committing to them, they offered group tastings and gave us a rough estimate of what everything we desired would cost. After the group tasting we were able to better fine tooth what we wanted on our special day by having a private tasting. The way they have both of these tastings set up is very organized, and the private tasting is just you and who you invite. The cost to do the tastings is well worth it even if you weren't looking to find a caterer! (Lol) Throughout the months leading to our wedding, various members of SR kept in touch with us via email/their website board. The constant communication we had with them was what mattered the most to us. Not all of our vendors had great communication, so it was nice SR, our largest expense, kept in touch. They made everything less stressful for us and it was just great. Day of the wedding everything went flawlessly. Other than the excitement of getting married, I only had 2 worries. I worried about it raining (ceremony ended just moments before the skies opened up), and everyone enjoying the food and drink. The service staff were excellent, while we (bride and groom) and wedding party took pictures, they were bringing us appetizers and ensuring we were taking care of while our guests enjoyed everything elsewhere during cocktail hour. Staff constantly checked on us during dinner and made sure we were happy with everything. All service staff were excellent and just can't say more about how great they were. My main interaction with SR the day of was actually with Stephanie, who bartended for our wedding. She was an all star. I never saw a line at the bar, but everyone had a drink on hand. She was fast, and she made our signature drinks spectacularly. If you like gin and want a signature drink, she makes a mean gimlet! She always had one waiting for me when I was just nearby. I honestly can't say enough good things about Savory Roots. If I needed to use them again for any type of catering event, I definitely would. Everything went perfectly, food was great, drinks were perfect and staff just were top tier. Thank you from both of us for making our special day truly something to remember. We hired Savory Roots to cater our wedding on 11/16/24, and our experience was top notch! From the delicious food to the professional and friendly service, they greatly contributed to our amazing wedding experience (and that of our guests). We and our planner worked with Megan to design an incredible menu and make sure everything went smoothly on the day of the wedding. When our first private tasting did not go as well as we had hoped, the owner, Melanie, promptly responded to our concerns and offered a complementary second tasting, where we were able to finalize our menu. We greatly appreciated Melanie's professionalism and willingness to go the extra mile to make sure we were not only satisfied, but excited, for our wedding menu. At and after the wedding, our guests were raving about how amazing the food and service was. We used Savory Roots Catering for our wedding. We worked with Megan over the course of our planning to create the perfect menu for our guests. We made several changes along the way and Megan was a dream to work with while answering our questions and updating our menu. The food was truly amazing and the service on the day was exemplary. We were so pleased with the results and have had several of our friends and family tell us it was the best food they've ever had. Hurricane Milton Evacuation Scam. I paid Savory Roots $3478.95. Then our wedding was cancelled because of Hurricane Milton. So we asked Savory roots for a refund and they refused even though it would have been impossible for us to have our wedding and use their services. I spoke with 2 representatives at Savory Roots. Megan Comer (Catering Sales Manager) and Stephanie Minton (Operations Director). Both of them refused to answer my questions other than to say "This is coming straight from the owner" and that they had no power over the situation. They also sent us screenshots of their contract stating "we're just following the terms of the contract". They said they were unwilling to work outside of the terms even in the case of a natural disaster that made it impossible for us to use their services. Although, I found that strange because Megan Comer told me on the phone that she felt bad for us and pushed her boss, Melanie Armstrong, to offer us a partial refund of $775.75 (which we're not entitled to in the contract). But, to us this felt unfair. It felt like neither Megan Comer, Stephanie Minton, or Melanie Armstrong actually cared that our wedding was cancelled 3 days before it was scheduled because of Hurricane Milton. The sad part is, my fiance and I held on to the last second. We wanted to follow through and use Savory Roots. Their food looked amazing and we were so excited to get married. But, the Hurricane made it impossible. And that's when Megan Comer showed us her true colors. It seemed like she knew it was unfair but she was unwilling to let go of her sales commission. But maybe it was out of her control. Maybe this has more to do with the owners of Savory Roots like Megan Comer told me on the phone. Maybe this is really a case of Melanie Armstrong (the owner) being the type of business owner who takes peoples money, doesn't deliver service, and refuses to give people back their money - even in the case of a natural disaster. Anyway, leaving this here as a warning. I'm a business owner myself and by the grace of God - we don't *need* the refund. We have been blessed financially and my family and I have begun our life in Nashville, TN. But I couldn't imagine being a couple who did *need* this money - but got taken advantage of by Savory Roots who is using a natural disaster as their scape goat. I can't say enough about Savory Roots Catering and Events! We had them cater our small 50 person wedding and it seemed like it was a huge wedding with the amount of food and hospitality they gave to all of our guests! We never went hungry and we had a wide variety of foods at cocktail hour and reception hour. They set up our tables beautifully, and were always walking around seeing if we needed anything or taking up plates as they saw people were done. And the food, oh my gosh the food! It is so so so good. Some of the best food I have ever tasted at any wedding I have been to! Leading up to the wedding the amount of communication we had with every one on the team to make sure our wedding day would run smoothly was awesome. The amount of group tastings to see what foods we would like at the wedding was such a great concept. And then when we did our personalized one on one tasting it was so personalized to us and an actual one on one experience just for us. On the day of our wedding the staff came up to the bridal suite to drop off a care package for me of snacks to keep me going for the wedding day. I can not say enough how amazing Savory Roots is! Fo yourself a favor and book them for any of your catering needs! We can't wait to use them again for any special occasion! read more
