My desktop's hard drive took a dump. I took the computer to Savvy Computers on Broadway. The unit is back up and running, with a new solid state hard drive. I always research the Reviews of others prior to making a decision to visit any business, dentist, doctor, etc. I thoroughly researched Hoon C (owner)...and found ZERO negative reviews for him....and SEVERAL positive reviews! He diagnosed my slow computer, made appropriate recommendations...then he went online with me and found a new computer within my price-range...I bought the computer and returned to him...he then transferred everything I wanted and needed from my old computer to my new one. I've been having massive sharing issues with my Linux fileserver and couldn't stand the frustration. I was going to move to a cloud solution instead of a local server, but the bandwidth slowdown would have been way too detrimental. Thankfully, Russell knows Linux inside and out. Had a malfunctioning AC power jack on my Asus laptop. Not easy to fix as it requires soldering the new one on the motherboard. Not cheap, but the guys really took care of me. They even took pics of the repair! Imagine your car mechanic doing that. They were quick, affordable (considering the alternative is buying a new laptop), and customer-savvy. I was panicking about not being able to recover my files from what I believed to be a fatal crash. I called in and was told I could come right in - same day. My experience was that of great service, affordable pricing, and a super nice guy who wanted to help. Hoon, sat me down next to him while he worked on my laptop and he educated me about different technology and what he was doing to my laptop. Much to my relief, he fixed what I thought was a fatal problem, in less than 10 minutes. He only charged me $35 - WHAT!?! - I know, right... I spent more time chatting with him than what it took to fix my issue. Hoon is very professional and knows his business well. My PC was just completely squirrely...odd wireless connection, too many pop-ups and lots of annoying little quirks. The Saavy crew is SO knowledgeable...someone there is an expert on every system. They fixed the problems, uploaded some terrific extra security software and got my computer humming again. Plus, they kept the unit an extra day to make sure they had solved the wireless issue. affordable, dependable, friendly and knowledgeable... door/flap on cd drive came off and the drive would not come out... told me they would see if they had a replacement but when I came in with my laptop... they were able to 'snap' back on the flap/door and the cd drive came out... yahoo... way less then the quoted over the phone...
