The first fix did not work but he then took the machine and laboriously tried many optional updates, eventually finding that an "optional" update was actually required for the update I was getting pushed to not brick my machine. Early February, my Apple Airport Time Capsule goes on the fritz (which shouldn't be a surprise given that it's a decade old), and I fall into a mini-panic because I realize my backed-up data is at risk. Crud! I've recently moved to Tucson, so I can't turn to my old stand-by guys who've saved my cookies so many times before. I have no idea how to find a good repair shop, so I check Yelp and ping a couple of repair shops that have good reviews. "Geeks 2 You" has a quirky name, and it sounds a bit better when I realize that the "2 You" part means they do on-site & pick-up/delivery. Cool. I send up the SOS smoke signal during lunch time on a Thursday, and I get a reply four minutes later. "We can definitely help" with a quote for an hourly rate. We message back & forth about process a couple of times, and I finally call to talk with the tech about replacement gear -- no one's going to recommend trying to fix a 10-year-old hard drive. I've gotta get two new boxes (back-up drive & wifi router) to replace the one Apple device, but I'm standing in Geeks 2 You's office Saturday morning with everything they need -- cables, new drive, old Airport and my precious data -- and the very nice counterperson says I should hear from the tech in a couple of days. Noting how nervous I am about the data recovery, she practically pats me on the head before I leave. "It'll be OK." It was actually a little longer than a week before I heard, but I was feeling alright. I got a call; Shelby said, "Things look good," and explained that she was certain she'd be able to recover my data. Whew! ...but it might take a bit longer to get it loaded onto the new drive. I'm still OK and happily go in to the Geeks' office in early March to pick up my stuff. I'm a little concerned about the bill because I have no idea how much time Shelby actually spent on it or whether I'm paying for bench or computing time. Once again: Worrying is a waste. The bill is perfectly reasonable -- represents about 3 hours of Shelby's time. Wow!!! I get the devices home, and everything looks good... ...at first. I try to access the old backed-up data (that Shelby'd recovered from the Airport), and I can't get at it. I call; Shelby spends time with me. We're both stumped. Next day, I bring everything back, and Shelby & I talk some more. Here's the deal: This went on for weeks, but it wasn't wasted time. Shelby called me at least once a week to keep me informed. She kept trying different ways of getting the recovery done & in a place where I could access it. She tried different computers, different formats, different configurations. Because we were talking about 2Tb of data, it could take hours to move it from one device to another, but Shelby didn't quit. In mid-May, I sent Shelby a note: "YIPPEE!!!" I'd got the new hard drive home and confirmed that I could connect to it and access all of my old data. Moreover, it was in a format & folders that were perfectly readable, so I can find things I'm looking for. Here's another good part: Even though it took that much more work, Geeks 2 You didn't charge me another dime. "All part of the service," Shelby kept saying. Throughout it all, she never once got impatient, always had nice things to say to me, always was positive. Did I say she was relentless? Absolutely. Now, *that* is customer service. I'm not a computer person by any means so when my technology breaks down or is malfunctioning I have to take it to some one who knows more than I do. This was the case for an external hard drive that I've had for almost 10 years. When I got deployed to Iraq I had two things that were essential to keeping me sane. My laptop so I could make Skype phone calls to my Girlfriend now wife and my external hard drive that has all my movies, tv shows, and music on it. When I got home it started getting silly. But then I remembered someone that I met a yelp event. Mr. Enzor. I sent him a message via Facebook messenger and he responded so fast that I couldn't even think of what I wanted to say. He told me, that his team are the best in the business and he is gonna try everything he can to do what he can for me. Not because we are Facebook friends or because we are yelp friends but because his passion is helping people with technology needs. Let me tell you folks, this place is legit. They have a very small Office but the professionalism is on point and they are taking precautions during this pandemic. They provide a Mask if you need, hand sanitizer and face barriers for the crew. This team was able to extract my external hard drive and put it into a new one. I feel very blessed to have this guy in my corner. on 12/30/2024 I was schedule for a Free 20 minute Counter consultation to discuss the problem I was having with my HP Laptop, which would not power on. The Tech check the computer and stated that the motherboard was bad. I then asked him to check to see if I would be able to access the hard drives data in order to move it to another computer. I gave him permission to open that computer to check. He then tells me that the hard drive was corrupted and un-readable and suggested that I purchase their $200 membership to attempt to access the information with a "Level-1" assessment. I did not trust him and decided to take the computer to SWS in Tucson, that very same day. The check the hard drive and told me it was fine and then sold me a SATA Hard drive SSD to USB 3.0 Adapter so I could just pull the file off the hard drive myself. Total cost was less than $40 bucks. I feel like your employee just tried to rip me off. I should not have gone your store in the first place. It was just a waste of my time. read more

Then my Bluetooth was out turned to be my battery inside my JBL speakers. Lesson learned do not leave your speaker plugged in all the time with lithium battery. My desktop computer was only able to boot Windows in safe mode, a fan was broken and the inside of the case was choked with dust. The geeks came to my place, and determined a course of action. They had to take my case back to the shop, but it was only for a week. Fortunately, I had my laptop as backup. When Randy the geek brought it back, he took great care hooking the cables back up and making sure that everything worked properly. He also explained exactly what was done and answered my questions. It turned out that one of my 2 video cards had gone bad. They replaced the bad fan and thoroughly cleaned the interior of the case. They also checked for viruses, malware and other nasty traps. My trusty Surface Pro 4 couldn't be turned on so I submitted an online from to see if it can be repaired. A very nice lady called within 15 minutes. She explained that since it's a hardware issue and it's close to 5 year old, it's probably not worth repairing. If I could give a 0, I would. They replaced my harddrive a little less than 1 month ago. It's acting up, so I called them. They said their parts are guaranteed 30 days! They delivered the "repaired" computer on January 18. Today is February 13, and they said it's "outside their 30-day window of repair." How do they count days? They said they could do nothing. It's also a travesty that a $300 REPAIR WITH PARTS IS GUARANTEED 30 DAYS. (The actual repair work is guaranteed for only 1 week.) REALLY! Oh, they said I could call Samsung and get a new harddrive, but then, I'd have to pay for installation. These people can't count days or figure out what is wrong with a computer.
