Let me just begin by saying that I'm very well versed in Thai cuisine, having worked as the only non-Thai in a Thai restaurant for five years and having spent several months vacationing in Thailand. This is not only the worst Thai food I have ever come across; it's also the worst food that I have ever paid for.
The truck came by my workplace today so I decided to grab some lunch. Menu selection was decent for a food truck, including Pad Thai, Pad Kee Mao, Pad Se Eew, Fried Rice, Panang Curry and Pad Kra Pow (Basil) as entrees, and several appetizers.
I went with the Pad Thai with chicken as my protein, and a Thai tea with boba to drink. I knew immediately upon opening the styrofoam box and seeing the Pad Thai that it was going to be a train wreck. I am 100% sure that it was not cooked fresh when I ordered, based on how incredibly dry and lukewarm it was. The texture of the "sauce" also drew my attention. This was not house made Pad Thai sauce, and I'd wager it came from a powder packet. The noodles and chicken were caked with powder, which was either be from a seasoning packet that was not well mixed, or it was an excess of paprika (used by many restaurants to give the sauce a deeper color). Disregarding how unappetizing the dish looked, it was the dismal flavors that made me throw away more than 70% of it. There was no tamarind flavor to be found, nothing that even remotely resembled the flavors of Pad Thai. If I'd closed my eyes and taken a bite I would honestly not have been able to tell that that's what it was. It was dreadfully salty (ummm???) and so dry that the noodles were almost al dente. The chicken was sliced into awkwardly big slices and was as dry as jerkey. It was so horrid that I wondered if those cooking it in the truck had ever even tasted Pad Thai before creating a recipe for it. The Thai tea was watered down and the boba's texture indicated that it was massively over boiled. A coworker of mine had the Pad Kee Mao (drunken noodles) and it literally looked like a glob of boiled rice noodles and vegetables with soy sauce poured over it. Coworker stated that it literally tasted only of soy sauce. There was absolutely no evidence to show that any of the ingredients ever touched a wok. I also have to mention that the only form of dried Thai chilies that they offer is packets of Italian crushed red pepper. Seriously.
To top it all off, not even 30 minutes after eating their food I made my first of MANY trips to the restroom. I'm still not out of the woods even as I type this review. This is bordering on food-poisoning levels of stomach issues. I wish I was joking or exaggerating.
This is not Thai food. This is not even American-Thai food. This is a travesty. You simply will not ever find worse food than this, regardless what type of cuisine. read more
