So you can imagine how happy I was when they decided to open a love bird in Winter Haven just a few miles from my permanent office. I think this location is even better than the Lakeland location because it is a little bigger than the parking lot is much better. They still have that absolutely fabulous crispy fried chicken that is so delicious. I love that you can cater it to your personal spice level. I like mine medium, but my mom prefers hers with no spice. Their fried chicken stays crispy even when it gets cold. Sometimes I'll go and grab myself some lunch while I'm at work and then get some fried chicken to take home to my husband for dinner and it's still crispy and juicy and fabulous. I also love that they have a meal that was invented for me. My favorite thing to order is called, The my girl ain't hungry. It consists of one giant chicken, tender in your choice of fried or grilled with a side and a drink for eight dollars. It is the perfect portion for me. Now, when people come to visit me in Winter Haven, lovebird is always one of the places I recommend we grab lunch.

The hot dogs are a quality thick beef hot dog and they are tasty. They have many toppings except chili. The fries are thick Krinkle cut and prepared just right today, crisp on the outside and soft inside. The Tacos were ground beef and topped with lettuce and tomato. We added sour cream and salsa fir an additional charge. The cheese curds have to be the best we've had anywhere. They aren't salty at all like some places and they have a nice Italian seasoning in them. The menu is pretty extensive so there are a lot of choices. The dining room is long and narrow with mostly tables of two, just a couple of tables fir 4 then they have counter or bar seating. Staff is friendly and helpful. We will most definitely be back and we can recommend this fir lunch or dinner.

We waited 20 minutes for iced tea which was delivered without a word and placed heavily on the table (perhaps it was my fault because 2 minutes before that I commented that our waitress must have gone home). 40 minutes later our burgers and fries were delivered. Burgers were perfect - fries were cold. Only then did the waitress say that the delay was due to a party of 14 seated right before us. Not once did the waitress stop to ask if we needed our drinks refilled or explain why our food was delayed until she actually brought the food. She did ask if we wanted to speak to a manager. Cam came over and spoke with us for several minutes. He worked hard to make it right. He is a respectful young man who saw things from both sides. It will be a while before we go back. We want to give them a chance to get their staffing needs filled.

He was very social and answered all our questions and socialized about personal life as well. We ordered the Cuban eggrolls, and they were quite good but had smaller cubes of ham as opposed to pictures showing slices in some older pictures posted to this establishment. The drinks were spot-on. Although I may sound disappointed, I'm looking forward to trying more on the menu that they have to offer. I plan to return to try more. Recommended!
