Empty plates from all of us. 3 adults and two kids and everyone was happy with our food. We had Fish & Chips, Shrimp Tacos, The Chicken Sammy, Chicken Pesto Sandwich. I'd been wanting to try this place but the hours of business are not on yelp. I showed up once when they were closed, don't recall the day of the week, and another time the whole restaurant was closed for a special event. It would be so useful to check Yelp and see the hours or that there was a special event. Anyway, I finally made it in tonight. I was a single diner so I sat at the bar. The bar tender was super nice and helpful. She made a really good Hot Toddy, despite saying it was her first time making one. She took the time to look up the recipe and did it right. Didn't take too long either. On a cold night, stop in for the hot toddy! It'll warm you up and lift your spirits. I asked her which to order between the Cubana and the Prime Rib French Dip. She didn't hesitate to recommend the Prime Rib sandwich. So I ordered that with the string fries. First the good: The bread is focaccia and is really good! I wonder if they make it there. Second, the sauce they have on it is amazing. Third: a generous amount of au jus. I really hate running out of au jus with a French dip. But at the SawMill, I had some leftover. And it was really good! The fries were OK, nothing special. Now the bad: The prime rib was way over cooked. Usually there's a good amount of pink in the prime rib, this had none. What's worse, is it was on the dry side and the edges were even more dry and rubbery. It seemed like it was sitting all day in a warmer. Despite that, the bread, the sauce, the Au jus and the flavor left in the beef was enough for me to not hate it and enjoy some decent flavor. Imagine if the prime rib was cooked right! It would have been awesome. I was thinking of giving a three star review because of that, but the server totally made up for it. I gave her my feedback about the prime rib being over cooked and kind of dry but that I still found good flavor in it. I wasn't a jerk about it but thought I should bring it up. She apologized and said she'd talk with the chef. I didn't expect that she really would. When she came back with the bill, she said she had a discussion with the chef about the prime rib and they will fix it for next time. I was happy to hear that and that would have been enough to try again. But she also took 20% off the bill! She apologized again and said, "'cause we don't do that to people". That was super considerate. She really took the feedback to heart and did something about it. I will definitely be back to try it cooked right! Can't wait to try other things on the menu as well. This place is Flippin' Spectacular!!! Went here on a date last night with my Husband and he ordered the Black Elk BBQ Burger and I ordered the Fish & Chips, to which are the BEST EVER!! We were blown away with the scrumptious taste from the first bite to the last bite!! I loved my huckleberry moscow mule as well!! The only suggestion I would have is that the coleslaw was super bland, so I think they can fix that easily. We will be back! You don't want to miss this place!! read more

We'll... it's been a while since reviewing an eatery we've tried! Here you go... 1. Fish Tacos - bland flavor... try some seasoning in the batter! Room temp at best. The macaroni salad ordered as the side, was like eating some cold pasta with a little mayo mixed in! 2. Shrimp Tacos - these need a new name, "ColeSlaw Tacos"! They were filled with coleslaw, then they strategically placed 3 popcorn size shrimp, and one that wouldn't cover a quarter, across the top of the coleslaw! The shrimp looked like frozen shrimp thawed out. And the side of French Fries were cold and old tasting. 3. Bone in Wings - They were crispy, but sitting in a bowl of sauce. Had to remove them out of the soupy sauce. Enough sauce to season a few more batches of wings! But, they were the best tasting meal on the table. Oh... the server gal... nice... but, constantly affirming the fact of herself, "not being busy, but just in her own world" as she constantly forgot requested items... ie... water refills, extra ranch dressing, etc. She would've been better to remain home and get her head together, remembering what her job entails... so she could serve the paying customers more efficiently... without excuses! Really want to love this place since Post Falls need more options, however the food was terrible. The chicken thigh on my sandwich was so overcooked and tough, it wasn't edible. Chili was both oddly sweet and way too spicy. The sweet potato tots were good, but they're the standard food service type that come frozen. It also took 45 minutes to get our food after ordering. We expected steaks and meats on the menu, since the name contains "Grill", but the dinner choices were only salads, sandwiches, or mac and cheese? Although the staff was very nice, the food was not kind to our stomachs. We got the spicy guac burger, the pulled pork sandwich, and the jalapeño artichoke dip appetizer. Overall they were very bland, and the portions were way too big for how heavy the food was. The burger was equivalent to fast food, if not worse, and we didn't finish anything. If you're under the age of 40 and value quality over quantity, we wouldn't recommend. You're better off eating at Applebee's, which says a lot. read more

We has the stinky wings...not the real name but the staff knows. All of it had bursting flavors. So good. Pricing was spot on especially for qaulity and portions and perfect. On the large size but not crazy. My favorite part was Wes the bartender he had good energy and never out of it. I would knock down a point for lack of purse hooks since bar stools have no backing but he informed me they will be put up tomorrow. We went here a couple weeks ago. Didn't have the best experience however we knew it was new so we didn't want to judge. We actually overheard the staff being sarcastic about the fact they have NO idea what they are doing. So fast forward to last night, our second go at it. The menu changed again. Our server was less knowledgeable than our first one. Couldn't answer any of our questions whatsoever about drinks, menu, sides, etc. Our food took forever and the most embarrassing part the person who ordered wings didn't get them for 15 mins until after everyone else's food....wings! For what this place is charging I get the atmosphere they are trying to put together. Unfortunately they dont have the process or right people to give a flawless experience worth anywhere near that amount. Sawmills Grille is pretty tasty! I loved how we could choose breading or not, different types of meat, and then the veggies. The restaurant is nice and open. The waitress asked me what I wanted to drink and said that my could order any drink from the bar. I ordered a pina colada and she she said she didn't know if they had that. I asked for a margarita and she said she didn't know if they had a blender. So she went and checked and they didn't have a blender or items for the pina colada. So I went with a margarita on the rocks. Our meal was pretty good. What we didn't enjoy while we we were eating was that there were flies flying around inside the restaurant. Granted I know they have outdoor seating, ect and doors open and close but flies buzzing around our food (and us) wasn't appealing. We'll try them again when the weather cools down so we won't be bothered by the flying insects. read more

i went to the Saw Mill Grill last July 2022, I was astonished! I'm originally from the East Coast and I hadn't had a decent fish and chips since I moved here. hav been dying to come back to the mill just fo that. well.... I brought my family back tonight and everything, including the fish & chips was terrible. I was so excited to come back, they must have changed cooks or something. Just terrible. I really like this new spot in PF!! They are still in the "soft opening" phase - their grand opening is 9/18/19. The menu on their website is exciting - I can't wait to try more as it's a limited menu at this point. We ordered the poutine (with sweet potato tater tots - very interesting) - the cheese was perfectly salty, just wish the tots didn't get quite so mushy and maybe needed a bit more sauce? We also got the shrimp tacos and they tasted great, though the tortillas were a bit doughy. My only gripe was that they don't have a large beer menu - only one IPA on draft (waaah! So we walked the one block to PF Brewery afterward!) The atmosphere was lovely and the service was great (lunchtime on a Friday). Excellent spot for lunch and amazing cocktails! We just moved here and tried this spot twice now. You can really tell that they get fresh produce. As someone who has cooked in restaurants for years I always really appreciate when a restaurant has really excellent salads as I have worked in places that didn't really put much thought or effort into salads. If you find yourself in Post Falls and are looking for a great burger, this is the place! Had the House Burger and it is hands down one of THE BEST burgers I have ever eaten. A hand pressed and perfectly broiled patty forms the foundation of this amazing burger. It had just the right amount of char plus juiciness. Then, it has ... (wait for it...) BACON JAM!!! It adds a wonderful smoky-slightly spicy-bbq component to this burger. It comes with lettuce, tomato, red onion and pickles on the side and sandwiched between a soft bun that holds up very well. I'm always excited when Post Falls gets a new restaurant and hope for the best. Unfortunately this place was a disappointment but since it's new, I'm going to be harsh but hopeful that they follow Yelp and take some action to solve some of these issues. I ordered the Poutine made with fries rather than sweet potato tots. (I'm not a sweet potato fan so it was nice that the server offered me the option). In my humble opinion, Poutine should have nice, thick gravy. This plate was soaked in very thin brown gravy. The cheese curds were okay but had the consistency of melted mozzarella rather than squeaky curds. The pork belly was very tasty and was the star of the dish. For my entree, I had the Fish Tacos with Corn Salad on the side. The plate as served looked great. Digging into the tacos was a disappointment. They were cold. Tacos are all about the meat. Hot meat. These were a cold flour tortilla stuffed with cabbage and then the grilled halibut was laid over that. With the cold stainless steel taco stands, the cold tortilla and cabbage, all of the heat was drawn from the halibut. I think the fish tasted okay but it was overcome by the lack of heat. There was a small serving of guacamole that tasted great but was also cold so it didn't help the situation. As I worked my way through each taco, I just lost my appetite. The Corn Salad was fair. The corn was a bit soft and overall the dish was over spiced. Leave about half of the spice load out of the dish and this will be a winner. One more thing...A Blue Moon should always be served with a glass garnished with an orange slice. As I said before, I'm hopeful that this place makes it. It's got great potential. We'll come back for a second try in a couple of months and let you know how things go. read more

Easily the most flavorful and diverse food I've had in Idaho. We were visiting family in June and this place was back up and running for indoor dining. We ordered a spicy chicken curry and a Mac n cheese with pulled pork. When the dishes came they looked a little small so we ordered the street fries. Don't be deceived! We ended up having to take the (mountain) of fries to go, we were stuffed from the first entrees. The curry really stood out and was full of flavor. I've been to the Sawmill Grille twice and haven't walked away with a complaint yet. Several food items have all been awesome, the Hog Boss is one of the better burgers I've had anywhere lately and the tacos are fantastic as well. Not little tiny tacos like some places, sizable with lots of meat and not skimpy on sides. Would love it even more if everything were a few bucks cheaper, but you get what you pay for I guess. My family had dinner there this evening. They both had the summer pasta. They told the waitress it wasn't good and all she said was " sorry about that". They said it was quite possibly the worst food they have ever had and didn't eat it. I felt the waitress should have offered to get them something different or at least take part of it off of the $50 bill... Now they are still hungry and going somewhere else to eat.. truly disappointing service. We won't be back. read more
