As we pet owners know, it is about the facilities AND the people. The staff at this vet is the best, from their front desk staff to their groomers and doctors. Have been a patient here since 2015. Was extremely happy with Dr Esbeck and staff. This facility is not what it used to be since his departure. The demeanor of the current staff is just sub par now. Not sure the animals are cared for properly during boarding either. Will be finding another veterinarian. There has to be better than this. read more

Can't say enough good thing about this place. Took my 15 year old dog for a 2nd opinion after his condition had been deteriorating under care of another Vet so much so that they recommended hospitalization! Dr. Esbeck thoroughly examined the dog, made correct diagnosis and prescribed different medication. Within a day our dog was already improving and has almost completely recovered now. And he only charged us for the price of medication and re-exam fee. read more

I was so excited to read that they took all types of animals. My daughter drove her little sister there early on a Saturday morning. Our beloved little Sugar Glider (aka Pocket Pets) had an obvious issue with his leg. They asked what was going on. My daughter tried to show the tech a picture but he didn't know if he really looked at it (not blaming him due to the Covid crisis). They brought him back out with a splinted (basic stabilization) leg and said it was broken. Which we said (when we brought him in) we thought was the issue and the pic was very clear and should've been obvious to any barely trained eye. Told us we would need to go to UGA for xrays and surgery. I'm not thrilled at the thought of a costly surgery. But, I don't understand why they say (in their ad) they take Pocket Pets as patients if they can't do X-rays/surgery . That quick exam and a piece of tape cost us $68. Only to have to start searching for a vet, that is closer then UGA, that actually does work on Sugar Glider/Pocket Pets. I never would have gone had I known they are apparently extremely limited as to what they do with them. Now, I'm looking at a $300+ to fix this animal. During this economic downturn, due to Covid 19, wasting that $68 really hurts. Yes, they let us know up front that was their exam fee. But, they should tell people they can't do anything. We weren't there to get his teeth checked. They were told the issue and they had to have known there was nothing they could do. read more

I have been taking my pets there since 1995. He is very kind and gentle to all animals. He will see barn animals to exotic birds! I have also seen dr randy working as a umpire at midway park. I like that pet parents don't just hand over their pets. You go in the back with them and are a part of their care. My dogs are well cared for. He has a surgery center and also boarding facility. I am very disappointed in Swanee Animal Clinic. That's the reason they deserve the stars they get. The week before Thanksgiving, I had boarded my Ambilobe Panther Chameleon Ranger -he would have turned 2 this December 22nd. The only reason I boarded him was because I didn't want one of my friends to take care of Ranger over the break due to the antibiotics he was prescribed for his 'Respiratory Infection' I only say it like that because It wasn't officially confirmed that's what was wrong with him. So I didn't want my friend forcing him his oral medication. Now I gave Ranger to Swanee hoping that they would take care of him, and make sure he got his medicine in. I trusted them. The week of Thanksgiving I called them from Florida asking them how he was. They told me he was fine, he was drinking, and eating, and his colors looked great. Which in all terms was fantastic, because Ranger has always been a picky eater, we would often have to force feed him to get him something so hearing that he was going after crickets was great news, because he always ate superworms. So picking up Ranger would have been great, we would have gotten a perfectly healthy eating, drinking, colorful Cham right? They told us over the phone he was doing great. Wrong. The last time I came to pick him up, which would be the last time I would ever go there I found out how he really was. We asked them if they saw him eat his crickets, and they told us 'actually we didn't see him eat, we just noticed that the crickets were gone' Hmmm not what I was wanting to hear. Getting Ranger back we knew automatically he wasn't right, his colors were dark and his eyes were severely sunken into his head. This is not the chameleon they were telling us about over the phone. This Casque, the fatty deposits at the top of his head were also severely sunken in. Ranger was severely dehydrated, if they gave him back to us like this. Then why did they tell us he was drinking? We take Ranger back to our home, and put him in the shower to get his humidity up, and entice him to drink something, we got nothing. We force him to drink some water he throws it up automatically. Ranger died two hours later after we picked him up from Swanee So I'm just a little frustrated with them. I believe that something could have been avoided if they were just honest to me about his condition. I take my chameleon there, expecting that they should know what they are doing and he comes home to me worse for wear, and almost about to die. They told me, the whole entire week that he was eating, and drinking, and his colors were bright, but I didn't get that Ranger when I got home. read more

Dr. Esbeck is the best around! Our pups have been patients for many years. His prices are lower than anywhere else and he discusses all the options for treatment and their respective costs. I've had two "emergencies" and expected to have exorbitant bills and was pleasantly shocked when I got the bill. Great care and great value! read more

Been going here since 1999, The Doctors is great. The cost has become too high. Their is no idea of what you will pay until the work is complete. I asked the clerical staff to take me off the three year vaccination plan which was 100% higher in cost than the annual vaccinations. She assured me this was done, but was not. I have two dogs and wanted to schedule them for visits together, she could not do that either. She could have me wait while she talked to her friends and fix her nails. If you don't mind wasting your day to see the Veterinarian. Imagine $600 for two dogs to get annual shots.....crazy! read more

I've been bringing my fur babies here since I moved to the area 3 years ago. They are the best. My cats are getting older so I've been going through new things with each of them, like diabetes, hyperthyroidism and renal failure. Dr. Esbeck always takes time to explain things in a way that is easily understandable. The staff is great and very friendly. They put my cats at ease the best they can in a what is a scary situation for them. They always call to follow up on treatments they have given too. I feel lucky to have such a capable, friendly vet and staff to help care for my boys so close to home. I feel like they really do care about my animals and that is important to me. read more

My dog was very sick as if something has been stuck in his throat since yesterday. I called SAC and was told they could not see him and I take him to the emergency room or wait until Monday. I have been paying for a wellness plan for almost a year and have used it once. I called back to cancel the plan and find a new vet who could help my dog and I was told I would be charged a fee to cancel the plan! I once admired this Vet but when you turn my dog away who is very sick and I pay you monthly for a plan to take care of him which includes emergencies and you send me away I clearly need a new vet. Wait until Monday and he sounds like he is choking? Wow. read more

We have been using the services of Dr Esbeck for 6+ years. We took our kitty to the clinic twice in the last 3 months for a shot for his runny nose. Today we were going to get another shot and was told he had to have a wellness check. He's an indoor cat with 2 friends to go crazy with. The shots were $45. Each and the wellness check is really not needed. Not happy. Used a different vet. read more

Took our dog here recently for a problem with her ear and to update her rabies vac. They were great dealing with her and were very nice. I was pleased to receive a phone call from them to check on her ear wrap the following Saturday, and also receiving a welcome card with a laminated pet ID card inside. Will definitely be coming back, and bringing our other pooch here. read more

Dr. Randy is great. He has a professional and dedicated demeanor. I first had him treat an ailing goat, Belly. We had another goat treated by someone else and she passed away. Belly was a dear pet and I decided to take her to Sawnee Animal Hospital and I am glad I did. He treated her with another medication and she recovered and did great. They are very compassionate and will call to check on you and your pet after coming in. Today they worked me in on what I thought could have been an emergency and treated Bear. They are reasonably priced and never crowded, since they try to space appointment out so you have no wait. They are the Best vet I have ever used. read more

I brought in a very young kitten that my friend rescued and I had begun taking care of. Everyone was very kind and loved my kitten. But then the doctor decided to deworm him without even testing for worms, and he didn't have a bloated stomach or any symptoms of worms. I suppose it was just standard operating procedure. However, I explained to the doctor my kittens situation. He was taken from his mother much too early and was found in the grass by the side of the road. His tiny immune system was not ready for the poisonous deworming treatment, and he died the next morning. This veterinarian killed my tiny perfect kitten. I am never doing business with them again, and I recommend that whoever reads this do the same. read more

Not real happy with Sawnee Animal. Vet(s) are capable, but today we took our cat in to be seen and they refused treatment because we had not gotten the rabies vaccine recently. I'll take responsibility for not having gotten that done, but because the Vet wanted to prove a point to me, he failed to help my cat. NOT COOL! read more
