We visit Sun Valley several times a year and have driven past Sawtooth Brewery Public House more times than I can count. There is almost always a large crowd gathered out front, which usually tells you everything you need to know--but we finally made a point to stop in for lunch on a beautiful sunny day. The Brews Since it's a public house, the beer list is extensive. I opted for their Pilsner and Lager. Both were exactly what you want on a warm afternoon: light, crisp, and incredibly refreshing. The Food We decided to put their "best in town" claims to the test, and they did not disappoint: * Fish and Chips: They advertise these as some of the best around, and I'm happy to report they aren't exaggerating. The breading was perfectly light--not greasy or heavy--and the fish itself was delicate, flaky, and cooked to perfection. * BLT with Grilled Halloumi: My wife went with this, and the addition of the halloumi was a game-changer. Served on a pretzel bun, it was a unique and delicious twist on a classic. * The Fries: You can't have a pub lunch without good fries. These are those "just right" beer pub fries--crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. Easily my favorite style. Verdict The atmosphere was great, the service handled the crowd well, and the food was fantastic. We will definitely be back for lunch on our next trip. It's a pub! Come in, order, and find a seat! They offer both alcoholic and nonalcoholic tap drinks or cans. So there is something for everyone! From the mug club, it seems like this is a local staple. There's trivia on Tuesdays. TVs on the walls. Picnic tables outside, if you're so inclined. I think some pubs just order from Sysco, fry it up and serve. Five stars because they're not doing that! Their food was "pub" but the elk burger was handmade and fresh, the pot pie wasn't out of a can thought the veg maybe been frozen not fresh, and some of the store bought stuff like their pretzel seemed better than a defrosted ballpark. read more

The Nachos are so bad we had two bites and returned them, not my flavor. Top it off I found out it never was taken off the bill. The cider and beer was great, sliders was great wings are great. This review is for the Oktoberfest they attend and basically run as the only vendor. There were plenty of sizes of souvenir glasses and plenty of options for drinks. Their food truck offered a few things as well and we had an overpriced but delicious pretzel. If they are in charge of this event, why not provide a few more chairs under the tent? read more

Nice place to grab a beer and dinner. The weather was nice enough to enjoy the patio, which is kind of hidden and wasn't crowded on the evening we went. Good selection of beers and a good selection of pub food. I got the fish and chips. I substituted tots. Both those and the beer battered fish were nice and crispy. Really delicious! The tarter sauce was really good too. The broccoli slaw that came on the plate didn't have much flavor at all. The staff talked my husband into the elk burger. Huge hit! Let's just say this place had the most delicious spicy chicken sandwich I've tried in the area. It was so fresh, and spicy lol something about the cheese made the sandwich just unique. Lol the atmosphere was great! Definitely not a date night type of thing. But more of a let's go hang out and catch a bite and have a very drinks vibe. But had a Great view of the mountains if you sit outside. The staff was welcoming and sweet and knew their menu. The only reason I am giving this place a 4 star and not a 5 is because I didn't like how we had to wait in line to place our order before sitting down. As people were leaving I felt like I was in the way which of course i was because I was in a line in front of the exit and entrance door. Great spot for lunch/dinner/just drinks to hangout. You really can't go wrong with any of their beers, Idahome is a favorite for us. Their food was great as well. Quick tip, order your apps and then your mains because the food comes out quick/when ready. Definitely a good stack of nachos - well layered and evenly distributed goods throughout, decent chips and perfect amount of everything. Ghost burger was good but I wish we tried something different. Spinach goat cheese salad with raspberry balsamic was great. We didn't love the jalapeño poppers, they were a bit too greasy but hey, that's on us. One of my favorite brewery stops during our time in Idaho! They seem to be taking COVID precautions pretty seriously with "Masks Required" being written right on their front door. Though I do wish there was a bit more social distance enforcing given that the front counter service ordering area started to feel a bit crowded when we were placing our orders. They have a small outdoor patio in the front, but then tons more outdoor seating out back (which we happily took all to ourselves). We got a flight of beer and enjoyed all of them. Food was pretty good too! I especially enjoyed their Korean Street Taco and my husband enjoyed his gyro. I got a fish taco, but I'd skip that one. We were here today for a post wedding celebration. We had 30 people and had the outside deck to ourselves. The lady with the blonde hair, about 50 years old, was rude from the start. It was clear she didn't like the extra work that was required to serve us. We had a reservation until 4pm. Our $1,000 bar tab was split two ways. The first $500 was tipped at 6%, the next $500 was tipped at 18%. Average of 12% tip (generous for the level of respect that we had received during our two hours there). The blonde hair lady came up to us at 4pm, and I quote: "You guys had this reserved until 4, and since the gratuity was horrible, the party is over and you need to leave". This waitress kicked out 30 customers who were likely to spend well over $500 additional dollars over a 12% tip. Absolutely appalling service. Went here last night, after a beautiful drive down from Missoula, and it was the perfect spot to unwind. They have an extensive beer list, there's something for everyone. I loved the Sheepherder Saison aged in Pinot Noir barrels- FANTASTIC!! My husband preferred the Idahome IPA. We both really liked the peanut butter stout too! The food was great, as well. I stopped into Sawtooth after a hike this afternoon. I had a flight of beer. I can't lie, I don't love beer and I mostly wanted to try the Hazy for a friend to see if I wanted to take her back some. It all still tasted like beer. I did really enjoy the Shandy and the Petite Gose. The Gose was really lite which made it unique!
