What an awesome experience at SV Wine Company! We made reservations (recommended) for dinner and walked away with a plan to return three days later before departing town. Yes, it's just that good. We began with some wine selections and the Goat Cheese appetizer. The Goat Cheese was adorned with a cranberry and pear relish and served with bread. It was so delicious. There was literally nothing left. For our entrees, we enjoyed the Idaho Trout and Beef Short-rib. The trout had a nice panko almond crust and was served with roasted potatoes. The short-rib was served over polenta with roast veggies--purple cauliflower, carrot and broccoli. Shoutout to Dexter and the other staff for making our experience the best! read more

Wow! 5 stars all around. Service was great and food was incredible. They have a very small menu but each item is fantastic. I loved my plate but I think i would have thoroughly enjoyed each entree. I did get a beer which I know is very counter to this restaurant, but they had a great selection of craft beers for those who are not as into wine. Really nice small restaurant with nice decorations. Nothing too special about the decorations other than the display of wine bottles. Highly recommend! read more

Tucked up on the second floor, with two patios, and views of the beautiful town and surrounding hills. We tried their white flight with wines from Bulgaria, France, and Italy - all were delicious! What a perfect spot for an aperitif! On second thought, ditch the dinner reservations, order a second bottle of wine, a large charcuterie board and flatbread and call it dinner. The Sun Valley Wine Co. is under a new management group including Dexter, (a charming Jamaican transplant by way of University of Nebraska) - and the place is a VIBE! Dexter recommended a lovely Garnacha from Spain that was so tasty, we bought a second bottle to take home. The place filled up with locals, weekenders, and even a young couple with a baby. The welcome is warm and inviting - and the wine approachable. They've even got some big plans on the horizon including a five-course, wine-paired dinner with a private chef. I read an interview about ten years ago with the guy who owns (or at least then owned) this wine shop. He described wine shops and wine bars like this as a playground for wine lovers. Yes, indeed. Being wine lovers we decided to seek this out on a trip to Ketchum. THE VIBE Nice, bright, welcoming space on the second floor of a building. A good amount of wine by the bottle (over 3000 options I hear) well arranged by varietal in some cases and country of origin in others. Refrigerator case on one wall holds chilled bottles. A few tables and seats are dotted here and there with maybe four high stools at the counter as you enter. The best seating in the house is the high tables and chairs outside on the balcony that overlook downtown shops and out at Baldy. This is not a lot of seating but on slow times you might find a place to perch if you want to buy a glass or a bottle (five buck corkage I think) and enjoy some nibbles. Eats options range from soup to salad to pannini to cheese plates with prices from under ten bucks to roughly twenty. THE SERVICE I can't say service was warm and fuzzy. Although it was mid afternoon on a slow tourist day and so there were only four or five people inside, all locals and regulars given the back and forth with each other and the staff, having wine and nosh, no one asked if they could help us as we wandered about. Not that we're not big kids who can ask for help on our own. But you know what I mean. Extending the playground analogy with which I opened this review, no one asked us if we wanted to play. We left without making a purchase. With just a little encouragement we might have picked up a couple of bottles of Italian wines. THE VALUE Bottle prices were not uber high but maybe on the just above our willingness to pay for same for the Vintners and Vintages where we've bought enough to have a price comparison reference in our heads. But we would happily go back here to buy a bottle to go or for a sip and nosh if we made another visit to Ketchum. THIS N THAT: 1) PARKING: On street in Ketchum is tough to find. There is a little lot behind the builing. 2) ACCESSIBILITY: Therein likes one of the rubs of our visit. I have MS and no longer climb extended flights of stairs. And yet from the parking it looked as if that might be necessary to get in. A nice local woman noticing it was going to be damned unlikely for me to do that said if I went around the front there was an elevator inside the building, take it to the second floor she said and there you are. Not marked, but that's an alternative she said. All good...thanks to her...but really, that the accessible route is not otherwise posted (as the law has required it to be for 25 years) seems increasingly unbelievable. But if you need to know it, there you are. 3) OTHER VINO OPTIONS: Atkinson's Market in downtown Ketchum has a pretty darned nice selection of wines by the bottle and if you like to wine shop on vacation, like we do, you might pop in there too. Though a limited selection, the food was good. Good, attentive service. Not a lot of by-the-glass wine selections and they didn't offer a tasting menu/selection. They did offer a lot of different wines to purchase by the bottle. But since we were on bicycles, we only bought one bottle to take with us. read more

Horrible experience, I walked up to the counter with my friend to ask for a bottle referral to bring home, the man behind the counter just glared at me as if to say what do you want? It was uncomfortable at that point and then he had to make it worse by walking up to my friend and her service dog (with a very noticeable service dog vest) and just rudely stated "this is a restaurant". She said it's a service animal and he said hmmm and just walked away. I am appalled by this mans behavior so much so I wrote a review which is not something I normally do. So unfortunately that this is the only wine store in town, we were very much looking forward to going often, not a chance any of us will be back. read more

ATTENTION Yelpers, This is a customer service review as I have not yet had the pleasure to visit SV Wine Company. Based on my long distance experience, I most certainly will when I get to Ketchum, ID. I was looking for store to deliver a bottle of wine to a nail salon in downtown Sun Valley. My lovely GF was going to be there later that day getting her pamper on after a long day of her jewelery designing and event preparation. I found SVWC to be less than 2 blocks away. I called and discussed my plan with Rita. Rita took the time to pick out and gift wrap a bottle terrific Chardonnay and glasses as the salon did not have any to use. Rita (awesomeness increasing) explained that she would be off work at 4pm, offered to personally deliver the gift bag. She said that was her nail salon too. As the transaction was nearly completed, she said she would call me back to confirm pricing, time of delivery and credit card success. Five minutes later it was a done deal! The SCWC should know that that kind of customer service is incredably valuable and can be rare to find these days...especiallyover the phone! I went here with a friend of mine for a ladies lunch. What a FABULOUS place for wine and light fare. Pick your wine from the fridge and it is brought to your table. No muss or fuss. Plenty of choices. We shared a cheese appetizer which was too die for. I had a salad and a pizza. My friend ordered a sandwich. Everything was delicious. I would come back here every week if lived nearby. Our server (I think one of the owners) left us for our ladies lunch. She didn't rush us at all. We enjoyed our wine and food in our own sweet time. Amazing wine bar! The setup is a wine store where you can buy a bottle at fair value and with a corking fee get to enjoy it on premises. The selection is vast and while the food selection tends to compliment the wine, the food is nevertheless superb. The Burrata is heavenly smooth and served with local fruit (in our case fresh peaches and fig sauce) on top of a bed of arugula. The smoked trout and Brie panino was excellent as well. read more

We both love wines from the Santa Ynez/ Santa Barbara area both having gone to school at UCSB and we were surprised to see they had so many! Try the generous clouds of candy-like burrata that spread on crostinis like butter, the tender smoked trout served in big filets with capers, or in a sandwich with creamy brie. The crisp cracker-thin flatbreads are big enough to share and made with great modern flavor combinations and lots of toppings. We have the flatbread du jour with prosciutto and parmesan, fig and date drizzle - the leftovers were just as good the next day. Locally sourced ingredients - great menu. Caesar salad needed extra dressing. Have wine by the glass from the well-curated list or buy a bottle from the terrific in-store selection and only pay a $5 corkage. I recommend a bottle of white burgundy with your snack or lunch. Service is great. Best view in town from the second story patio. There are only a handful of tables. read more
