We have been customers of hers for decades and continue to be so despite our having moved out of the US. There are no finer and more trustworthy persons in the jewelry business than Sondra and her son Anthony. In fact I am writing this review while awaiting a call from Sondra in order to have her tell me that she has THE bracelet I've been looking for to give to my wife. There is no question in my mind that she will select precisely what my wife would had she selected it herself. You couldn't do better anywhere.

I went to Sondra's 9 years ago because I always heard them advertising on ESPN Radio. Anthony spent hours with me teaching me all about Diamonds and Rings. He ordered many diamonds and helped me pick just the right one. He explained the reasons behind each metal and why I would want to choose a platinum setting for our Tiffany style engagement ring. This was crucial as the ring went 8 years before it experienced any damage. I was in my early 20s and Sondra's let me make weekly payments for many many months without interest or fees until the ring was paid off and I was ready to propose. We moved out of state and were still planning our wedding. We corresponded by email with Anthony about the wedding bands knowing we would only see them 2 days before the wedding and they had to be perfect as there would be no time to change them out. They were perfect. This weekend we went back to Sondra's to have the aforementioned damage repaired and I haven't seen Anthony in probably 5 years and he remembered me and remembered where I worked 5 years ago. Amazing. The repairs were fantastic and super affordable. I am forever in debt to Anthony and Sondra's for teaching me about jewelery and changing my life. Thank you!

I have been in here various times over the years when purchasing jewelry, having it reset or…read moreresized. The owners (John and Lucy) are absolutely lovely to work with. They are very friendly and listen to what you are looking for when it comes to picking the right piece. My first experience here had to be about 10-12 years ago. I had purchased an inexpensive Claddagh ring in 9K gold on a trip to Ireland back in the late 1990s. The ring cost about $150. My Claddagh was really special to me because I'm part Irish and it was purchased on a vacation. The ring came with a created emerald (fake), but I somehow managed to knock the stone out and lose it. I went to a couple of area jewelers to get quotes on fixing this inexpensive stone and ring. I was shocked by what some people wanted to charge me! I came to this shop and John charged me a LOT less than what the other stores quoted me for a repair and resize. Fast forward to the current day, my Claddagh ring looks great and the stone is still securely in place. I think this speaks to the fact that John clearly does quality work. I stopped in this week when I was back in Albany. I assisted my friend in purchasing an engagement ring here. It was still a pleasure to come here and no pressure. We were shown various diamond options and I think the pricing was fair compared to the expensive mall jewelers. While I was in here I talked to John and Lucy about my own engagement ring. My husband purchased it elsewhere, but it's a 6 prong Tiffany style setting. I had bent one of the prongs about two years ago. I was lucky, John fixed it for me that day, it only took about 10 minutes. After my ring was repaired, cleaned and polished, it looked GORGEOUS. He did such a nice job fixing it up for me. I went to see my sight impaired grandmother the next day and she even commented on how she liked my ring. My mom also loves coming in here too and has had a couple of great visits with jewelry repairs. She also found John and Lucy to be very pleasant. I especially like that this is a family owned and operated business. I moved out of the Capital Region in 2014, but I always recommend this spot to my friends when they need a jeweler. Wish I could find a place like this where I currently live.

DO NOT GO HERE, avoid at all costs!…read more Absolutely horrible experience, ruined my wedding ring and so rude and unprofessional. Do not risk bringing your jewelry here, they will ruin it and take no responsibility, it's clear they don't know what they're doing. Brought my wedding ring in for a loose main prong, received it back weeks later with the prong even looser than when I brought it to them, with two stones completely missing which were perfectly fine before, and a huge black resin burn on the main diamond. Not only did they not fix what they were supposed to, they sent my ring back mangled. I have no idea how or why this would happen and how they wouldn't notice this before returning it to me. They also apparently don't take photos or videos of rings before and after repair for documentation, which is wildly unprofessional and is basically jewelry repair 101. Thankfully I took my own photos as evidence, as we're suing the company for the cost to repair the damage they did. They also don't do the repairs in store, which they weren't transparent about, and send it out to god knows where, so be further warned that it's a massively sketchy and unprofessional operation. On top of having no skills as a jeweler, their customer service is atrocious and they treat customers like garbage once they have your money. When I called to discuss my concerns with the state of my ring, the old woman working was immediately defensive, insulting, rude, and accused me of lying and swore at me. Not sure what I would gain by lying about their botched job, I just wanted the situation rectified. She also admitted they don't do repairs in house and don't take pictures or document what is damaged and what they fixed, insanely unprofessional and a scam of a business. They should be ashamed of how they damage pieces that mean the world to people, and then treat and talk to customers horribly. Save soo much time, frustration and heartbreak and go to a business with actual skill and integrity and who treats their customers as they deserve. Edited to address business comments below: Ma'am, I did not swear at you, and have the recorded call as proof of your unprofessionalism and rudeness. You did offer to 'fix' the damage, but who in their right mind would trust you with their jewelry for a second time to fix the issues you carelessly caused, after you sent back my ring with the original issue not fixed, and more damage added on top of it, that you didn't even notice? Insane. For you to say 'I did not want this done', is wild, I shouldn't have to bring my ring back to repair burns you left while not even fixing my issue. Potential customers, do you really want to put your trust and jewelry in the hands of unknown 'contractors'? Very sketchy. Even if my mom was happy with past, non complex, jobs you did, it doesn't mean this one wasn't a total disaster that you did not take accountability for. Everyone, save the headache and lawyer fees and go to someone sane and professional!

They helped select a stunningly effulgent round diamond solitaire style pendant, with my first choice for any karat, color, or clarity as they will be happy to personalize for me and their asking prices are very reasonable market-wise. They thoroughly and attentively explained to me the differences in the grades and gave me helpful input about whether I should choose white gold or platinum, round or princess cut, etc. I needed the chain customized for both 16 inch and 18 inches, so I will be picking it up on Monday so I can wear it both ways, no additional charge. I left there really happy about my purchase as well as their exceptional service and I don't even leave Tiffany & Co. half as excited. If you want to treat yourself to a luxury item, definitely take my word for it, you won't be disappointed as they are the one of the best in the business.

The first was half off and the 2nd about the same when they matched a price I found online for the same watch that was better than the 25% off the shop was already offering. I went in earlier in the day to look at it and didn't feel at all pressured by the salesperson and I could tell she genuinely liked watches, jewelry and helping customers. I went back later and showed them the deal online and within a few short minutes I was paying. They adjusted the bracelet as I waited too which was much appreciated, even after I offered to leave it until later. I did have a watch I did not buy from them adjusted about a year ago and the service was very reasonably priced, especially considering I tried myself and gauged the band. I definitely recommend giving this local shop a shot before you buy from a chain or online. They have a nice sized clearance section and other sales too. Also some pretty cool vintage pieces that may interest some. Haha they even had Downton Abbey jewelry! Who knew!
