No justification for assessment decision. Incomplete documentation and lacking in a detailed interview.

My review has been over 10 years in the making. (Not joking) I chose to wait to not "blackball" myself from obtaining a job, I suppressed my response until now. I've seen Dr. Clifford Saxxe over 3x for multiple jobs in the last 10 years. On the initial written exam, I did not understand a question, when I asked a proctor she told me if you don't understand a question mark "YES" on the exam that way you can discuss it in the Interveiw. I followed instructions, once in the interview as we came to that topic she scolded me like I was a 5 year old child doing something horrible, only giving me 2 min respond and the Interveiw was over. 2 years later I took a test again this time I said "NO" on the exam. Once in the Interveiw she read her notes from the first interview. EVERYTHING she wrote down was 100% incorrect. She never listened to what I said from the 1st interview, then called me a liar and said I was being deceitful. I knew at that point this was a dead end. I paid a pretty penny for a 3rd party psychologist who evaluated me in the same manner. I never told this other Dr. It was Clifford Saxxe I was having issues with. He figured it out all on his own, plus had a few words to say which I will not speak for him but correlate with this review. I ended up going a 3rd time 6 years later, knowing what I know from the two previous attempts. I was prepared, answered appropriately. Once we came the topic, again I confronted her on her notes and shared my piece of mind (respectfully). I was railroaded, She showed no interest in listening, and basically took my 4-6 hrs of testing that day and just called the Interveiw in under 10 min. Fortunately I over came this obstacle and obtained my job with persistence, but because of one simple answer on an exam I didn't understand and following her offices directions it cost me 3 agencies and 10 years of a career I could have easily obtained. It's unfortunate that this occurred and cost me time, money and opportunity to further my career. I hope this finds Dr. Clifford Saxxe in good health, I have no I'll will towards her, but do wish that she would reevaluate her stance on how she tests candidates. Many good men and woman work hard to obtain their dreams and goals. Take a few extra minutes to listen, be accurate and not change peoples stories or timelines to fit your narrative or judgment on candidates. Respectfully read more

F*ck the OCSD, they lied and told me I was "randomly selected" from a list of 50 (or 100) people. I'm not driving to porn valley to pay this old hag $200 to incriminate myself, and you shouldn't, either. If you do go, remember: She doesn't have access to your medical records (past hospitalizations, medication history). Don't ever sign away your HIPAA rights. This place is a joke. After taking the questionaire for my CCW, I went into the room with this so called professional. 5 minutes into it she ask me questions about why I got suspended in high school when I was 16, and I said gee, that was 20 years ago, kind of hard to remember, and she replies.. No it was 10 years ago. I said lady Im pretty sure I know how long ago I went to high school, if Im 36 now but suuuure. Cant even get basic math right at the beginning of an interview and of course me correcting her dumb comment didnt help. Dont bother trying to do it the legal way, it doesnt work. I spent $250 on a defense course required by CA Weeks on paperwork And $125 non refundable bill for the kook and shes the only one they let orange county go to? Like I said dont waste your time, the cops and the laws arent followed anyway these days so just save your money, this place is a scam like the other websites have said. read more

This psych is garbage. They fail people for minuscule and unsupported reasons. No cultural sensitivity, no follow-up questioning, and no solid and sound reasons for their "evaluation." I've been employed with my agency for 10+ years. I've been carrying off-duty for more than that. I'm a POST certified firearms instructor. I'm working on a masters in psychology, and I've been through mental health crisis intervention training multiple times. Did she ask me about my credentials? Not even. Instead she fixated on a time when I kicked a stray dog that was attacking me during my walk, and that I own 10+ pistols and rifles. I appealed, and eventually got the position I was applying for. There are too many agencies going to this lowest bidder quack shrink! They need to take her off the POST list... read more

I give her a huge FAIL as a psychologist. I had two Psyche tests with her with different agencies. She passed me on one and failed me on another? So, what changed in the year and a half between the two tests? As mentioned by someone else, I believe she made her decision based on personal reasons, she seems very biased and vindictive. I have had a long and un-tarnished career in LE and this person has no clue or business being in this field. I have never shown a "John Wayne Syndrome" she claimed I exhibited. The best part of this horrible experience was that I passed the very next Psyche test, no issues (different psychologist) with a better agency. So sad to think this she has this much power to fail good LE candidates. read more

I applied for a position within the LA County Probation Dept and interviewed with her for less than 15 minutes and failed me because she stated I was being deceptive. She never asked me any follow up questions to probe further information and I felt that I was not given a fair opportunity to explain any of the concerns she addressed in her assessment. I applied to a different agency outside the county and when I found out she was contracted with them I withdrew my application because it would have been a waste of time and money. read more

I was sent to Dr. Susan Saxe-Clifford PHD for a CCW Psych exam. After reading some of these colorful reviews, I went in prepared for the worse. However, Dr. Susan was an absolute DELIGHT! The interview process was seamless and quite enjoyable. I believe your interview process may depend on how you answered those intrusive questions. As uncomfortable as they are, however much needed for this process. Go in with an open mind and just tell the truth. Its soooo much harder on yourself if you go in deceiving her. She's very good at what she does and deserves the respect she's earned. read more

Was sent here by ocs for my ccw permit and the psych I don't remember her name but she was very judgemental about things and very opinionated. Seems she let's her personal feelings and views cloud and alter the outcome of your evaluation. Also kept insisting I tell her how many guns I own and I told her I did not find that to be her business and that there all registered and they can look that up at the sheriff's department. But she kept pushing so I was like fine I'll just tell you it's 10+ and her comment was outrageous. One of then was "so your a radicalist" and "why do I need so many." And ps if you hunt she is angst that also was very clear by her comments and questions about my hunting. read more

I was sent here for an evaluation prior to being hired on with my department in October 2018. I passed with no issues and was hired. Three months later my department sent me back for another evaluation as I was moving to a different assignment that the department sends everyone for a second evaluation (same test I took in October ) prior to being transferred. The person who interviewed me compared in front of me my test from October and my current test and said the answers were the same. She interviewed me for about ten minutes and said you've been in this line of work for a long time. She concluded the interview and that was it. Fast forward to now when I was informed by my department I didn't my pass the evaluation to my surprise. They will not share any information in regard to why they did not pass you so I can only speculate. I know all my answer were the same because the interviewer confirmed it. The interviewer had just had back surgery within the last week prior to conducting this interview. I was sitting in the lobby when she had to be carried in because should could not walk due to the swelling which was causing her legs not to work (she shared this information during the interview). During the interview she was shaking the whole time and fidgeting around. I know she had to be on some type of medication for the pain and I just wonder was she in her best frame of mind or physical health to be conducting these evaluations. read more

Dr. Saxe is one of the most down to earth people that I have had the pleasure of being psychoanalyzed by. Dr. Saxe is extremely friendly, direct and to the point. She made me extremely comfortable and went over my past two exams that I had taken with her office in the last year. Her office staff is extremely professional and accommodating. Make sure to bring cash if you want to take advantage of their deal with the parking company downstairs. read more

I had a good experience at Dr. Saxe's office. They are open Monday thru Friday from 8:30-4:30; their hours on Fridays vary. First things first, parking costs $18 if you park in their parking but the garage can only fit small cars no vans or trucks. I ended up parking at Rubio Professional Center Parking ($20 for the day) which is right next to Encino Atrium building. The office will validate your parking in the Encino Atrium for $9. When you go in for your tests expect to be there about 3-3 1/2 hrs for just the test portion. Once you complete the tests you will wait to see on the psychology associates. Make sure to go in rested and ready for your tests. read more
