Went in with high hopes. A place that's been in business for so long, has to be good right? Well, not really. We ordered the egg rolls , wontons, fried and stir fried sweet and sour chicken and the beef and broccoli. The beef and broccoli was fair and the egg rolls were tasty. However , if you wonder why the chicken is shaped strange...like in strips. Well that's because they use frozen chicken breasts that are thawed, sliced and fried or stir fried. There's no flavor and you can definitely taste the frozen. Notice how the batter barely clings to the chicken. It's just unacceptable. The fried rice has no character, just some rice with a couple pieces of egg with soy sauce. The sauces were bland with very little flavor. The staff was super friendly and the service was good. The restaurant is clean and well lit with and has a nice atmosphere. But if you're going for the food, don't expect much. read more

This was our meal for our first dinner in Canyon. We had not been in a restaurant for a year with Covid, so this was a bit odd to get back to normal! I'm so glad this is where we picked. The hot and sour soup was probably the best of that kind of soup I have ever had anywhere. I would go there just to eat that and be done. The Pad Thai was hot and fresh. I asked to change to adding green peppers and that didn't happen, but it wasn't a critical mistake. The food was nice and spicy like I like. My husband had BBQ fried rice that was basically just rice with BBQ sauce and a side of BBQ sauce. Very different from what we were expecting. He said it was good, but kind of weird. Not very Asian-food which is what we thought it would be like. We ordered the chips that you normally get at an Asian food place and they came out just made!! They were so good...I kept saying just one more...and then they were gone! Our server was great. She was super friendly and efficient at her job. No problems at all. This restaurant has come a long way since 2020 time frame. Service has gotten a lot better. The bartender is very high energy and runs the bar and the tables all around the restaurant. We decided to stop in here for a late lunch while visiting family. It is located in the 'historic' downtown square of this sleepy little college town. I am a huge Thai fan, so I was tentative to try Thai in this tiny cowboy town ;) First impression - atmosphere - It was a bit run down with dreadful flooring that was all scrapped up from the chairs. It wasn't very open or appealing, but hey - some of the best places I've found are dives. Certainly not a great place to take someone if you trying to make a first impression. This is more of a go here for the food kind of place. Service was fine and the young lady answered all of my concerned questions about the menu - not what I was used to seeing in Thai place. But she pointed out they did have the dishes that I wanted - they were just listed differently. She even went to ask the chef if they could make a vegetarian version of one for me - and she agreed! We had several dishes: tofu green curry, chicken phanaeng curry, a vegetarian stir fry special, and shrimp pad see ew. I was very satisfied with the flavor of all the dishes. I was actually very content with my green curry too - though I found it a bit sweet and not spicy enough. Overall this place surprised me. I'd go here again if I came back to town and would recommend it for people to try! read more

Inside needs a little update but the food makes up for everything If you call in an order, expect to wait longer than you anticipated but, again, the food. Ambiance is hometown friendly. I grew up in Canyon and was excited to trysuch a nice looking restaurant gracing the town square. The ambience was okay, but--as has been pointed out by other reviewers--the wait time was long. I have lived in Thailand for several months and know the cuisine pretty well. The website mentions a pan-Asian cuisine, but the offerings on the menu were more like a grab-bag of stereotypical Asian dishes. But what was most disappointing was the green curry--way too sweet, no lemon grass and not even green. The other dishes our party ordered were passable, but certainly not stellar. read more

I had the garlic basil shrimp, sayakomarn's pad Thai, steamed potstickers, a couple cocktails, and the mango sticky rice. I am so happy I found this place!! Turns out that the Amarillo area hosts a lot of Thai and Laotian families. The owners are Thai. Sayakomarn's is really delightful and I enjoyed my dinner here. First, Katie did a really good job going over the menu with me. I was specifically looking for a Lao dish like laab, which they do not serve. I chose a Thai dish yum nua with udon. It came out very flavorful with the mint positively exploding with flavor. They serve sticky rice for dessert with either fresh mango or ice cream. I selected the rice with mango, and it came with a sweet coconut "sauce". Really good. A couple of miscellaneous notes. The ice tea is some of the best black tea I remember having, better than what we make at home. Strong but extremely fresh. Their Pandora channel played a very nice mix, including a couple of lesser known artists that I follow. The music was not too loud but complemented the dining area. In a college town at that! Last, the servers were running taking care of large parties yet my tea glass never ran dry. From looking at the dishes passing the table and a couple of overheard comments, I would trust any dish on the menu for taste and quality. A very good experience in a small Panhandle town. read more

In a semi-post Covid-19 dining out world, I have to say this place hasn't lost it's touch. We spent 3 days in Amarillo this weekend eating out the entire time, fast food places as well as dine-in restaurants. I am so glad we went to Canyon for Sayakomarn's, the food was amazing, the bartender was our waitress because we ate at the bar so we didn't have to wait for a table. The sign on the door says they don't make fast food, they make good food as fast as they can. So true. It wasn't fast, but the dining experience was so nice. DELICIOUS! While in Canyon on a Saturday night we stopped in after a friend recommended Sayakomarn's to us. I had Vegetable Tom Yum which oddly enough also came with chicken/beef/pork/shrimp but also included broccoli/cabbage/carrots etc. It was excellent although served near the boiling point. (I had to put ice cubes in it to cool it down!) My dinning companion had combination banker's which was good. I really enjoyed the rice. This last time we made it into the restaurant the experience was set up for failure from the beginning. Good service. Good atmosphere. Full bar. Huge menu of selections with lots of photos (helpful). I love the Ginger Garlic Shrimp Appetizer. It isn't like anything I have had before. Like others have stated, this place isn't anything fancy, it just does what it needs, makes great food and a good experience. The pad thai is a great staple, last time I got the garlic chicken with fried rice and it was so so fulfilling. This is the place to go for Thai food in the area for sure. Food is really great! But get it "to go", unless you have an hour or more to kill before getting your food. To Go orders get priority, which is probably why so many tables were empty. Been here twice now because I wanted to give them a second chance since they have had a help wanted sign up for a while now service was slow but gave them grace but wish they could of made it up in food. Lacked flavor. Fried rice was good Bc it had black pepper on it. Hate to see them go out but defiantly not a place I'll be back drinks are pricey and for almost 100 for 3 people I may pass 3 drinks 1 appetizer and 3 meals. With no flavor.
