Recently saw this place on Tik Tok with rave reviews about the food and live music. Went on a Friday evening and didn't have a problem finding a table but after 10 min with no service a spot opened at the bar so we took that. Went were sitting near the entrance but all 4 bar tenders were only serving the opposite end of the bar. Another couple that sat before us hadn't had any service yet either. Not even a greeting. 25 min was my limit. I'm fine waiting for good food and drinks but I like to be acknowledged. The live-ish music was decent, hence the one star. read more

I've been a loyal customer of SC Bar & Grill in Reynoldsburg for years, and usually, I can count on them for a 9/10 or 10/10 meal. Sadly, this visit was a huge letdown -- especially after spending over $100. The good: Our bartender, Karen, was amazing -- super attentive and made sure our drinks stayed full. The dumplings were the highlight of the night. Easy 10/10. The cocktails were solid, too. The bad: * We ordered three mac & cheeses -- all were dry and lacking flavor. * The broccoli was oversized, bland, and nearly inedible -- more like giant chunks than something appetizing. 1/10. * When I brought it up, Karen explained that's how it's always served, but no offer of a substitute or fix was made. * The famous blackened sauce tasted off -- a 4/10 at best. * The salmon was under-seasoned and came in two tiny pieces -- another 4/10. * And the catfish? Seasoned well, but completely undercooked -- pink on the inside. Totally unacceptable. -1/10. I get that every spot has an off day, but this meal was far below the standard I've come to love here. Came in and walked out because I thought I was in the wrong place. Once my girlfriend confirmed that, yes, this is the place that has amazing food, we sat down to the best spinach, mac & cheese, catfish, and salmon with that outstanding sauce that is out of this world. We've been supporting this business for awhile and it's decent, but lately feel the need to find another place to frequent. A few Saturdays ago, we came at 12:15pm and while outside was told that the bartender was on her way when they are supposed to open at 12:00. Needless to say, we left. First I must say that the food is always good, cooked well and very well presented. My only issue is that I feel it's over priced for what you get and you can depend on them not having this or that from the menu. Last time I was there, I had a $22 fish dinner, not salmon, and with one piece of fish. It was just ok and honestly not worth the money. As far as drinks, expect them to be very very weak and not any kind of happy hour. Bartenders are nice enough but don't really know how to engage customers very well unless they know you. They don't smile much at all and you can tell it's a job and not a place they really want to be. They take your order and make your drinks. Don't expect any banter or even to be asked how you've been, even when you know they have waited on you many times before. Expect to spend some serious money here if you plan to be here for a few hours. This is not a 5 star restaurant. It's a bar. So to hang out on a Friday evening and spend the money that we do here, I can think of several other places with friendly staff, good food, nice drinks and I don't have to spend over $100 dollars. This bar has been around for quite some time but their food is what keeps me coming back. The salmon asparagus and macaroni and cheese are a staple on their menu I'm on there menu. The wings are are not my favorite as I've had them 3 times at this point and they are always a miss.. Even if you ordered them "fried hard" They are pretty much not edible at that point. This place is AWESOME! We were in town on business, and a local told us about this spot. BOY-O-BOY, was this a treat. We got sharables, so we could try a variety of food. Our order consisted of: dirty rice with pork, mac & cheese, chicken wings (sauce on the side), shrimp & grits, spinach and blackened salmon....OMG, EVERYTHING WAS AMAZING. Perfectly seasoned, good portions, great service, and fun environment. If you are looking for some GOOOOOOOD homestyle cooking, this is the place to go. Appears to be a very unorganized and misleading restaurant. They never answer their phone which makes it impossible to place a to go order. I came on a Thursday night at 9:35 and told by the bartender that the kitchen was closed for the evening. I was told to return the following day at noon. Show up at 12:08 and the doors were locked. A few minutes later, a woman exiting a jeep came and unlocked the door. This is when I was told that the establishment opens at 12:00 but the kitchen did not open until quarter till 1. Well I had to be back at work in Groveport by 1:15. I came back a 3rd time that Saturday during the mid afternoon. I was disappointed they were out of their signature Korean wings. I settled for a Turkey club with fries and a side of their dirty rice. The food prices are fairly reasonable and the quality supersedes that. Based off of those two factors, I would return just to try some other dishes and maybe come by when the kitchen first opens so I may get the Korean wings. read more

Yelp did it again! What a great find! With this being our first time, we ordered quite a bit for sharing and trying. We had the shrimp & grits, mac and cheese, homemade chips with blue cheese, Vegetarian Korean Dumplings and Vegetarian Eggrolls. The chips were really good - the perfect balance of crunch and salt; the dumplings and eggrolls were truly veggie and really good - with the dumplings being the better of the two -quite a bit more flavor, and perfect amount of crispiness. The mac and cheese tasted just like homemade - my husband's favorite; the shrimp and grits were really good and very savory; I would have preferred the offerings of the mac and cheese and grits to have been switched - the grits became overwhelming towards the end. The only downside is what brought me out of the house for a meal is that I really wanted Bloody Mary - they were out of tomato juice, then I ordered another drink and they were out of another ingredient.... I feel that this is very out of the norm, and the bartender/waitress was very apologetic, but very much a bummer for me. I look forward to trying more things on the menu, and potentially becoming regulars... but lets be real, I may just order a bunch of dumplings! It's an old school kind of bar. At least that's the feel I had when I got it. It's an older crowd so the ambiance was pretty chill. That's not what I'm accustomed to but I did enjoy it. The bartender made great drinks & was pretty cool. That right there goes a long way for me in any setting. I had the Korean wings along with egg rolls & it was amazing. However, I notice that a lot of the times I call to order (carry out only) they are out of side dishes.. Today was one of those times. I initially called to order a meal with asparagus on the side. The person taking the call explained that they ran out of asparagus. So Becasue I don't eat pork, my options were slim. So i ordered fried rice instead. She told me wait 25 min and to call when I got outside so she could bring the order out. Once I got here, I called in to check in for my order because it had been past the 25 minutes. She then says that they were now out of fried rice. So i had to order French fries because the other menu items had pork. I asked asked her was it often that they run out of things like this. So I tried SC for the first time yesterday and I was kind of disappointed. I got their wings, asparagus and mac. The mac and cheese was decent really cheesy and creamy. I say decent because I'm picky. The asparagus was cool. The wings was the biggest disappointment. It was kind of salty and not hot at all! I arrived at the store at the time they said my food would be ready so I'm not sure why it wasn't hot. However, I'll give them the benefit of the doubt because of COVID. I could not have been more wrong. They were so loaded with grease that they were inedible. I tried to save them by scraping the filling out but it was still greasy but not as bad. I did taste it and the flavor was there, I just could not get past so much grease. They should consider investing in a toaster oven or air fry them for a product that has potential to be really good. Also, do not give them your credit card which they require. If you do you will find large sums of money mysteriously debited from your account. So I walked in with my family and almost walked back out. Had seen pics of an fb friends food online and thought I'd give it a try. This place/bar does not look like it would serve great food but let me tell you it does! This is an old school bar with really good food (shocker!). She seemed to be working alone and the place was fairly busy so I won't ding her for not coming to our table more. Food: The wings are good (typical wing experience and taste). I had the blackened salmon dinner with spinach and Mac n cheese. The salmon was perfect! It had a Cajun style creamy sauce on it that was amazing! The spinach was cooked and seasoned to perfection. The Mac n cheese was good too but I've had better. I tried my brother's red beans and rice and omg was it good. I don't normally like red beans and rice but would definitely order this. This is my 1st time visiting this establishment...The only issues with this establishment I see is that: 1) They don't use gloves (as shown) 2.) The guy is cooking while sucking on a lollipop(as if he's at home cooking) 3.) The other guy comes in to assist and begins to dump ingredients into skillet with his BARE HAND. 4.) The food is a lil salty The DRINKS are good, the staff was friendly & I didn't wait long for the food as I anticipated from reading prior reviews. Mr. Sean, please don't take this as an insult, but merely constructive criticism for room to improve. None of us are perfect and I too am I Black Entrepreneur that love to support my people and always let them know when I see something so that we all can embrace one another and lend a helping hand. The food was tasty. Just not enough... can't put my finger on it. It was definitely tasty. Unfortunately the offerings are a bit sporadic. Many of the picks on their Yelp page are curtesy of the chef. Several entrees looked great, but all but a few are not being offered at this time. Bummer. I did enjoy my meal: grilled salmon with fresh asparagus and their mac and cheese on the side. Ooey gooey cheese. Lots of cheese. Perfectly done, al dente, spiral pasta. Creamy cheese with a light brown color baked top. Rich and full of flavor. The piece of salmon was also quite good. Not over cooked (so many places do!). Perfect light pink color. Great salmon taste. I love asparagus. So, yes, this side was a great, healthy add. Like I said, the food was decent, so negatives. It's just this visit was not memorable. Our server gal mentioned that the head chef doesn't come in till later at night. Thus, all his specials are not offered until later in the evening. You have to literally drive there knock on the door then wait 20 plus minutes because although it's take out you can't order over the phone. The food is pretty good but the customer services is below decent. I want to always support black business but supporting black businesses should not mean horrible customer service! Update: went in today and ask were they still taking orders and the lady responded no we stop at 8:30pm. It was only 8:18pm. I'm not usually one to write reviews (good or bad) but my experience tonight deserves a review. Let me start by saying I've been to SC multiple times and each time I'm a little less impressed. My first impression of the place (many visits ago) was delightful. The staff was friendly and the food was out of this world. It's a little pricey for the atmosphere but the food was of good quality which made me visit again and again. However, things have been changing (in my opinion) and going downhill with each visit. My first poor experience with SC was probably a year ago when they wouldn't let me in to eat without paying a cover charge. Mind you, I wasn't there to sing or to be entertained. I had 2 other people as well. I guess they didn't need the business because we only wanted to eat and leave but paying $15 just to get in before we even ordered on top of what would have been another $55 easy for food... Needless to say I didn't say. Just a few months ago I took a friend for her first time. We went on an evening and to their defense they were busy but the food alone took over an hour. Not to mention in the meantime I couldn't have a glass of water while I waited I had to pay for a bottle or buy a beverage even though I ordered food. No one ever checked back on us and acted annoyed when we tried asking for something. The food came out... and it was delicious. So I let the service and wait go without complaining. This time I had company from California (and she too used to love SC before she moved away less than a year ago)! Since she's 79 and not sure when her next trip back across the country would be we decided to come in for dinner. This time was absolutely the last straw. We waited 15 minutes at our table without a single ounce of acknowledgement. I proceeded to the bar to place a drink and the bartender looked at me and said it would be a minute but never acknowledged me again, so again I stood waiting. Luckily someone else was working and offered to assist me. I explained I wanted to place a drink and food order and expressed how we waited for a while before anyone came over and the bartender snapped at me and basically said they were busy without any kind of sympathy. I placed our order, waited 45 minutes and finally the food arrived. The blackened chicken was tough and over cooked, the once creamy mac and cheese was cold and dry and the other part of my order was wrong. At this point another guest I brought (another first timer as well) wondered why we hyped this place up so much. The staff wasn't very friendly or empathic at all but removed one of the meals from the bill. They were incredibly rude to us from the time we got there until the time we left. Needless to say, I'll absolutely not be returning. Customer service is important. Kindness in general is important. I'm truly sorry to even have to write this review but have a right to share my experience. I believe this place has potential but lately it's really lacking. I remember the days of great customer service and delicious food I once had here, but won't be visiting anymore. A bar that has great food and drinks is a win in my book. It was Wednesday karaoke night and thank the heavens most of the people that performed could sing! The service at the bar was quick and accurate. However, the service for the food was horrible! The wait was so long (over 45 minutes), that we had to inquire about it from the bartender. Not sure if there is only one person doing the actual cooking or they were short staffed, but the wait time was ridiculous. The food that I was able to sample was delicious! I have been a few times service was ok , they were busy my last time , Last evening 3-3-20 I stopped by myself to have a drink , and unwind from a long day @ work I sat at the bar and there was 7 ppl at bar whom had their drinks, a guy cam up and got a beer , I'm still waiting to be greeted, 2 bartenders both of them saw me and the one just smirked and looked away and asked the ladies next to me if they were good, the pother brought food out to someone walked past me and nothing,, I'm confused is my money not good here ?
