Full disclosure. I'm not a huge baseball fan and I've been to a Tides game before, but this time…read morearound was really fun! I believe it was due to the level of experience I had. If you have the opportunity to see a Tides game and have access to the picnic area that's the way to go! I had tickets via a corporate event and we had seats in section 117 which is down in front closer to 3rd base, but also include access to the picnic area which had a better view and included up to an hour and a half duration of food. The food served is dependent on the menu choice the organizer paid. We had menu 1 which consisted of hamburgers, hotdogs, chips, potato salad, cookies and nonalcoholic beverages. Staff replenished some of the food, but the chips and potato salad and cookies went fast! Their hamburgers and hot dogs are really tasty too! I enjoyed the spread! I think another menu option may include fried chicken, pulled pork bbq, coleslaw and potato salad as well but we didn't have that menu. You can choose to return to your seats to watch the game or remain in the picnic area. I felt the picnic area was a more pleasant experience and had a better view of the field. Most of the area is covered, with a 1/4 of the seating uncovered closer to the field. They have bar counter top seating closest to the field and picnic tables and some four tops. The set up for food was efficient and has both side access for two lines. They have two food buffet areas, At the time there was another company that had an event as well and had the other buffet with chicken. Drinks are served at the picnic concession counter and the women that manned it were friendly and efficient! They also have bathrooms in the picnic area which was nice! The games have fun little silly mini events to break up the monotony between innings. We happened to have great weather that day ! There was a light breeze, wasn't too hot nor humid. I recommend bringing sunglasses and or hat to help keep the sun at bay. You can look on their website regarding parking options. Lot C is the only lot you can pre- pay online for and parking for LOT C is available up until first hit at 6:30pm as long as the lot doesn't sell out prior. ($7), the other lots are first come first serve and is credit card only. I believe the park is cashless pay. Other parking options are riding the light rail or parking at MacArthur mall for free. If you have game tickets light rail rides are free 2 hours before game time.

Sneaks and rubber cleats ok, NO METAL SPIKES. t's a tad far from home but the smiles on players' faces make it worth the drive. Portable mounds and base plugs make the field versatile for multiple age divisions. Some spectators back their cars up near the visitors bullpen, pop their tailgates, hop in the back and enjoy the view. Enough space around outer perimeter and bleachers for Covid distancing. Bullpens on both sides for warming up pitchers and catchers. There's a full sized grass field nearby that's slightly less kept. Sadly, if there are two games happening simultaneously, the mid sized parking lot can get pretty full. 2 porta-potties on-site. Apple Maps GPS gets turned around when trying to nav here.

I can't think of any cons of this place. It's a series of 4 fields (ranging of different age…read moregroups), each of which are highly maintained. The workers are prepared to keep the field in shape in any weather. Dogs allowed! It's free admission to watch your kid's game and there's a parking lot, overflow across the street and the rec center. Also, there's bathrooms in the back of the food stand. They have the best food stand with tasty treats while you watch the game (or for your kids). Just a little tip, bring sunscreen bc the stands are not covered.

Together we stopped by the D-Bat Baseball & Softball Academy located in Newport News. We wanted to swing some bats and hit some balls this weekend. This was my buddy's first time in the batting cage so we gut us a batting coach, who was refereed to us by a friend, Coach "Jay" Sew, knew his stuff. We only had 30 mins to practice but my wife's skills I'm proved in no time. We started out with the batting - T but will return to try out the pitching machines. I wasn't very impressed with with the venue or the gals…read more While they were all good at what they did the actual presentation was bad so my first experience with roller derby was pretty terrible. The commentators at the event didn't really say anything about what was going on for each of the 2 minute jam sessions (if that's what they're called) and didn't really say anything about the particular players or try to get the crowd involved. It was fairly dead. There weren't enough seats set out for the people who were there. So, essentially I paid $12 at the door to walk into a really crowded old and outdated roller rink which had probably 50 or so chairs set out at the far end and there were maybe 150-200 people there so everyone else was forced to stand even further back. That's a lot of money to stand for two hours. They didn't have any half time entertainment so we all just stood around and waited for the time to tick away. So for people who hadn't been to a match before it was somewhat confusing and not at all entertaining. Big disappointment.

That's bad ass. Worth going if you can stomach a scene like I saw. Check them out at Haygood Skating Center. This ain't your Roll Bounce-type environment or your slow song at the rink kind of night. Child has no history of frequent nausea or vomiting. More frustrating is the fact that, once home, she shows no signs of being ill. This has resulted in several work hours lost at my clinic. The facility feeds a large group of ducks in the front lot. These charming animals leave their droppings across the parking lot. It was always a fun game with my children and I to navigate their leavings on the way through the front door each day. This means that people are tracking avian feces into this building. Why this is not illegal I do not know. Bathrooms for boys and girls are located in the main hallway and have no doors. You must walk by each day to drop off your kids. Sometimes the children are supervised and sometimes not. Why this is not illegal I do not know. Do not bring your child here unless you have simply no choice.
