I first my had SMP treatment from John, an operator from Scalp Co, in 2015- and it exceeded all expectations. It wasn't too painful, it was a great customer experience across the board, and it solved my hair loss dissatisfaction 100%. I am not big on reviews (even though, like everyone, looking up reviews is the first thing I do), and leaving this review - well, I am 100% endorsing Scalp Co, specifically Sacramento location. This has been the best experience, from the phone intro with Britteni, to a face-to-face consult within 2 days and my first appointment 3 days later. I have attached a very personal for me to fully show what Scalp Co. (my girl Britteni!) has done for me; she has put in hours of work on my scalp to give me back the confidence that I lost in the last few years. My 'after photo' is a regular day of me living my life and feeling confident enough to take a picture, no special angles, no editing, no filters. I'm 31 and for the last 2 years I have been losing hair in clumps - my hair got so thin that you could see my scalp. Nothing medical was happening but it was probably stress related. I used hair fibers, found hats and tinted dry shampoos. I would cry all the time because I couldn't figure out how not to look bald. For a young woman, it's devastating. My friends and family knew I was "getting my head tattooed" and no one could believe that I had any color implanted - they just saw my hairline getting filled and my hair looking really healthy and full. I was just as nervous as all of you reading these reviews... I wanted the treatment, but I was highly doubtful if it would look good on me, and I didn't want to F' up my head!! I started balding at age 16, and I just got used to the look, keeping the sides and leftover hair as short as possible. I was never truly happy tho... I decided to go in for a consultation (and I went to 2 other places as well, because always get a 2nd). John, the owner, took plenty of time answering my questions, showing me photos, and giving me a real assessment of what he thought the SMP could and couldn't do for me. He was honest, and told me the pros and cons. He even left a patient waiting for a couple of minutes to answer my endless questions (he did the same to me later, but I don't mind!) John made me really comfortable about SMP, and he ensured me that I could come back as many times as necessary to fix any issues that may arise. I said, what the H', let's just try it. If I don't like it, I will wait 10 years until it starts to fade. If I hate it, I will get it lasered off! lol... Yea, I was really wanting a solution. After the first procedure, I noticed an amazing difference! I loved it! It was not full or complete looking, but I loved it right away and I could immediately see a difference. After procedures two, and three, I saw continual improvement and I had ZERO regrets. John always asked me if I wanted to change anything, but I trusted his intuition and experience, and he gave me a very natural looking hairline. 'Naturally' receded back for a guy of my age, so it looks legit. After my 4th and final procedure, John was quite happy with the work, and so was I, but he told me to come back a 5th time a couple of months later, for a final review. He wasn't 100% happy with a little spot way up on my cranium, so he touched that up because he wanted to be happier than I was with the procedure. You start with a scheduled consultation that is free, quick, and straightforward. He will review your concerns, set up a plan to meet any reasonable desired outcome, and give you a set price. Then you set a date to get your first session done (this procedure is a layering process so this part will vary based off of desired outcome). Once your day arrives to get the procedure done here's how that goes. Show up on time and and relax it's nothing scary. You'll go up the elevator onto his floor (5th) and will be greeted by what can best be described as a massage chair. Get comfortable, my sessions for a level 6 are about two hours. Pain is subjective to the individual. Since we are talking about getting a tattoo there are needles involved but don't worry they are super fine and not as bad as a regular tattoo needle. On a ten scale for me it's about a 3. The only part for me that's not so much fun is the front most part in the hair line which may approach a level 4. You'll take breaks between areas he has to work on so don't worry you can "cool" down, get a drink, and if you'd like peak at the progress. Once your done you'll be red in the treated areas (about 4 days time resolved that for me). You can't sweat or get the treated areas wet in that 4 day time so plan accordingly and use that as a reasonable excuse to skip the gym those days. Otherwise just enjoy your first sessions progress! Your on your way to a new hairline/fill! First impressions are that it looks great, people could see the results after session one on me. I'm going in for session 3 today and can't wait! It's actually something I look forward to. No more hats, shying away from pictures/places that don't allow hats, and a higher self esteem. Ending notes: it is not "cheap" per se but all the money wasted on hats and just the cost on your self esteem completely resolved the $ cost for me. I'd say if your thinking of doing it you have nothing to lose and much to gain, go for it! The process is guaranteed for 6 months you'll get everything you need up to par way before that's over. After that just like any tattoo you'll need touch ups every so often (5 years or so depending on how your skin is and sun exposure - ALWAYS wear sun screen if you can just smart practice all around). So glad we found John. Both myself and my husband needed treatment. Personally I was in a car accident in my teens causing scaring on the scalp. Because of the scars there is parts of my scalp that hair is thin or just won't grow. I've styled my hair specifically to hide it or suffer embarrassment. Now I have the freedom to be creative with my hair styles and be more confident....if the wind blows!! For my husband...I'm not gonna lie, I was skeptical about the results he expected. He's been balding since his 20's. At 30 he gave up trying to even hide it and started shaving his head.
