I enjoyed the infused water available at the front desk. The staff seemed more focused on making sure you were out of the gym area by its closing time than on refilling water in the gym. The cleaning man hung out in the women's room cleaning or whatever, some 20-25 minutes before closing on one evening, which kept my wife from being able to use the women-only sauna. The next night, the hotel had the nerve to send a 'security guard' or some authoritative figure to ensure we were out by closing. For clarity, we weren't aware of the closing hours for the gym the first night, and the cleaner informed us that the gym was closed; we'd just asked the front desk to turn on the sauna, and they'd said nothing about closing when acknowledging that we wanted to turn it on. Of the four nights we stayed, half of those had no water in the gym. There's no phone or way to contact the front desk for more, so more consistency in checking would be nice, at least as much care to kick out patrons trying to get in a post-exploration workout. Also, one day we asked for new towels; they left a stack on the counter, and left all of the dirty towels. They took that quite literally, but the implied task was to pick up the old towels left on the floor. Lastly, just a preference, but I like the double beds better than singles placed next to each other.

Improvements needed; 1) For the receptionist; don't work in a hotel if you don't like the service industry. 2) For the hotel; Don't hire employees that doesn't belong in the service industry.

We followed the google commuter route suggestion and got here within 1.5 hours using the 3 day travelers pass, no extra cost. The 74 bus also takes you to Stanskull underground train to Central. Keycard provided needed to get up elevators which is a good security measure. This hotel has a sauna and workout floor at the penthouse on 15th with great views of the ski slope. Room has wide window to look out from. Water pressure is fantastic for the shower and shower gel provided. A yelper commented about no toilet paper, but maybe staff just forgot about it that time. Tea and coffee making facility with a kettle. Tap water is drinkable! Room has a safe and heating temp is perfect this cold Feb night.

It is conveniently located next to a 7/11 which I've been going to religiously. Beds are super creaky and annoying, but that's what ear plugs are good for I suppose. The room I was assigned though had apparently been cleaned, but briefly used; the bed was untidy and one of the towels had been used. I called reception and was asked whether the room was usable at all (and that their computer had shown the room as cleaned). I replied that the room would be okay if they gave me new bedsheets and towels. Then the same poor young man from reception came up to make the bed and bring me towels. He apologised for the inconvenience and I was happy I could finally go to bed and get a few hours of sleep. Other hotels might just have upgraded me to a better room, but I was okay with that solution at half past one at night. At least the bed was comfortable and I got a few hours of good sleep. Breakfast was pretty decent, with good selection and many options for those with special dietary needs (lactose free dairy, soya and almond milk, gluten-free stuff etc.) And I enjoyed the lactose-free scrambled egg, which is a rarity in hotels. So the Scandic provided a very mixed picture: friendly and helpful staff, a messed-up room, but good breakfast. That makes for a fair hotel overall, a guess.

The hotel has about 40 something rooms and the one I got had a decent sized bed with a good mattress, a really nice Samsung 40 inch TV and a really fresh and clean bathroom. Breakfast is included and although it isn't the biggest breakfast buffet, everyone will find something good and enjoyable. Even vegetarians Why not 5 star rating you say? Well, my room (no. 8) and about 7 others are situated a mere 100 cm from the restaurant and you feel that everyone can hear absolutely everything that goes on in your room. So if you visit with your spouse, girlfriend or boyfriend, then sex is out of the question. And for God's sake, no farting!!!

Starting on a negative note (sorry) my biggest gripe was with how horribly our stay started because of the reception manger (middle aged woman with wavy hair). She was HORRIBLE and honestly had everyone else not been so great to makeup for her issues I would have likely left 1-2 star review. After I calmed down a bit felt it better to leave a more fair review but to also warn management that they shouldn't have someone like her in charge or working with people, everyone under her or who worked the front were so much more personable and normal! The short of it was when we arrived for our stay I was sick with a cold. Upon check in I politely noted that I was really sick from traveling and requesting if my room was ready if I could get in early. It was about 12pm and check in isn't until 3pm. The woman did her lookup on the computer and noted that the room was not ready, she acted sincere and said it would for sure be ready at 3pm but that if it was ready earlier she would let me know. Totally appropriate and I told her okay, I would kill an hour at the restaurant and come back. Came back around 1:15pm and room was not ready. Again, I was understanding and since I was only getting sicker I just had to plop down on the couch in front of her in the lobby and wait. What more could I do? Sat there from 1:15-2:30 coughing, sneezing, not a good situation to be in their main lobby. Finally with no word from room keeper at 2:30pm I was shocked. Most hotels given my circumstances would at least have asked housekeeping to finish up the room (check out is 11am, Pretending it wasn't ready by 2:30pm seemed like she was pushing it). I noted a second male hotel receptionist started working at the screen beside her so I politely went up to him and asked how much longer would it be for the room. This gentlemen goes "oh your room has been ready for awhile" here's your key. (Insert wide eyed emoji here). The anger that coursed through my body, that lady was lucky I was sick. The real kicker is after he gave me the key I had to pass her and she goes "have a nice stay". What a miserable you know what. She was the clear example of someone on a power trip who clearly has very little going on for her in her life. Mind you this woman watched me in the lobby for almost two hours sick, and wouldn't allow me to go to my room. Insane. You'd think I'd leave 1 star but after I got to my room everything was smooth sailing from there. The rest of the women and gentlemen I encountered with reception, at the restaurant, and on the grounds were lovely. They are what make this place great. The hotel was also darling inside and super cutely decorated. I was really impressed. My hotel room was cozy and cute. The beds were super comfortable and the room was a good size. Nice courtyard outside of the room. Would I stay here again? Eh. lol. That lady at the front really tried to ruin my experience but thankfully everything got better once she left. Thankful for a good experience just come here at your own risk.

No toiletries, and unfortunately we had to settle for two separate beds. However, clean and quiet and nice views over the lake. Restaurant was great, especially the day after brunch which was one of the best I visited!
