If you appreciate Nordic design you will love this unique shop. Nice layout. Friendly staff. Limited home decor. Seasonal decorating. Unique gifts. A rotating selection of imports so if you like it, buy it bcz it will most certainly be gone! The kitchen section offers gadgets, teapots, cutlery, dishes etc. In the rear of the store there is culinary retail such as jams and a frozen section for perishables. And the kitchen cooks & bakes familiar Scandinavian specialties as well as beverages. Minuscule tough parking.

This is how Marianne talks to customers about shipping delays. Unbelievable rudeness. Also lying, we ordered 2 days before Thanksgiving.

Having been customers for many years, it pains me to write this review, but the way they've treated us after our most recent order left a bad taste in my mouth. After waiting nearly a week without traction of any kind and writing in for an update, we were subjected first to an impersonal, unhelpful canned response, and then further rudeness from their staff in subsequent emails. As we came to find out, the reason for the delay was not the holiday that they initially blamed (1 day out of an entire week) nor being short staffed, but instead because they did not actually have one item in stock (red cabbage) out of our entire order. Rather than inform the customer, they opted to leave us in a vacuum, content with having taken their money and not shipped out anything. On top of that, they had the unmitigated gall to respond to our inquiry and complaint by telling us they'd "let our belittling slide this time" because we were repeat customers. Apparently they are arrogant enough to think they are the only game in town and we should be fortunate that they did business with us. Seriously?! We have spent literally thousands of dollars with these people, repeatedly placing large orders, multiple times a year, for several years now (especially for the holidays). A cursory glance at our order history shows that just in the last 12 months, we've put in orders for over $950 across 9 separate orders. We've also referred colleagues, friends and even my wife's hairdresser to their on-line store, trying to give them more business and help them to thrive in this pandemic. And now, when there's an issue with one and only one order, after all this time, *this* is how they treat us? Unbelievable. All they had to do was apologize for the delay, explain that it was because of the red cabbage and offer to cancel that part of the order so the rest could ship out. Had they simply done that, we'd have happily remained loyal, long time, high spending, repeat customers. Instead, they displayed nothing but callousness and arrogance towards repeat customers who rightfully called them out after first patiently waiting a week with zero communication and then receiving their unhelpful canned response. We gave them the benefit of the doubt and far more patience than they were entitled to, considering they took our money and immediately ghosted us for a full week. I think they must be confused, because we're customers paying for goods and services, not a bank offering short term loans. The worst part of all this is that they still have not uttered a single word of apology, or shown even a modicum of empathy for their customer. They should be utterly embarrassed for the way they handled this situation, and needlessly insulting their customers. Hasn't anyone ever told these people that you should always try to be nice, but never fail to be kind? I've asked them for an apology for the way that 'Marianne' treated us, but I don't expect to get one. I'm happy to update this review if and when I hear from them, and I'd really like to remain a customer, but the ball is in their court now. UPDATE: We did receive a phone call from Marianne, but the first words out of her mouth were that she "did not believe we would be getting an apology from her." After that, she proceeded to launch right back into the adversarial, argumentative, hyper-defensive nonsense. For someone who complains about how she has no time to respond to a customer's email, she certainly had plenty of time to call us and prove how petty and profoundly arrogant she is. We finally just hung up on her in the middle of her psychotic ranting about how rude we were to have expected an apology. Stay FAR away from this place, especially for online orders. Customer service is disgraceful and the owner, Marianne, is unbelievably rude and condescending, even to long time, repeat, high spending customers. Your loyalty and patronage will never mean anything to this business.

Slightly off the beaten path, I surmise it is well known to Darien residents. The layout is somewhat unusual -- you enter into the dairy aisle, with produce at the other end of the building. Make sure you try the prepared foods -- the chicken scarpariello meatballs are our favorite item so far. Soups were excellent -- chicken matzo ball, sausage gumbo and carrots ginger all pleased. Pulled pork was savory but could have used some sauce. At Easter they were sampling delicious ham and scalloped potatoes. Fresh meats appeared to be of high quality, I can vouch for the hamburger patties. The fish counter is small and is not attended by a fishmonger. I've only had free samples of the baked goods so far, but they look great. Produce is solid, but as expensive as you would expect from a gourmet market in Darien. Service from the counter folks and check out was uniformly excellent.

Where else can you stroll the aisles with a free coffee in hand, pretending you came in for "just one thing," while slowly filling your cart with items you didn't know existed but now absolutely need. And the rotisserie chicken might be the best financial decision in the whole store. Somehow it's the one thing that feels like a bargain while everything else gently reminds you that quality comes at a price. In the end you walk out with great groceries, a lighter wallet, and the comforting feeling that at least you did it with a cup of free coffee in your hand. Honestly, worth it.

I've seen a lot of incorrect info on Yelp, but this one is ridiculous. Yes, this Whole Foods Market is in Westport, and they sell pizza along with many other foods, but "Westport" and "Pizza" are not part of the name. Not sure how someone mistakes a a supermarket for a pizza joint, or how Yelp moderators miss this mistake. Shouldn't be difficult to detect and correct problems like this if you had a few clankers on the team. Also, the hours are completely wrong. See my photo of the doors with hours listed.

I could barely reach for an item with those personal shopper carts blocking it. The aisles are jammed with the "shoppers". Most days, they have their carts in front of the products, as pictured in my bakery photo, without regard to the actual patrons stopping in to buy groceries. Amazon should just shut this location down for the store shoppers. It's consumer unfriendly to the fullest. Plus, wtf do we want to see a Zappos ad on a Whole Foods bag? I'm definitely not buying from Zappos now - not like I would in the past. This cross advertising the Bezos empire is disgusting. It is so very unpleasant to shop at this location.
