There was many options for breakfast and lunch, we opted for the blueberry pancakes, Silvermine omelette, and bad boy panini. The pancakes were my favorite - super fluffy. Over the years I have regularly brought visitors to Silvermine Market and enjoyed their breakfasts and lunches. Kindly note that this business is CLOSED for expansion although their website shows it is open for business. In addition their phone is permanently busy with no message indicating that the business is closed. I suggested to owner Scott that he update his website to notify customers that the market is closed and to have a voice message to alert his patrons that the market is closed for expansion. Last year our son and daughter in law hosted Thanksgiving at their home in New Canaan. The meal was prepared by Silvermine. There were twelve people and everyone raved about the turkey and the trimmings. The turkey was moist and delicious. The stuffing was perfect. Everything was great. So this year of course, with 15 people coming we went back to Silvermine hoping that last year wasn't a fluke. IT WASN'T. This year was just as delicious. We have some gourmet cooks in the family and they couldn't wait to have this year's meal. We were all so happy. We are Silvermine all the way. If you're in the area try their pancakes. Had the pleasure of visiting this place this weekend on a gorgeous fall September with temperatures hovering at 63. It was a bit unseasonably cold, but more the reason to try out a nice breakfast joint. Been living in this area for 23 years now so was surprised I had not been to this place which was like a 10 minute drive from my house. The place looks very artistic and has a cool vintage vibe to it. It is in the famous silvermine arts district and there is a gallery right across from it. It was nit busy when we walk Ed ina round 11 A.M. we ordered the eggs Benedict that's comes with a side if fries and my daughter ordered the buffalo sandwich. The food was really good, with the sauce on the eggs nicely done and a bit tangy. The eggs were done to a perfe tin and it was a very filling breakfast. I did manage to get a bite out if my daughters sandwich too, which was nice as well, but I feel mine was better :) They have settings both indoors and outdoors, but for a nice cool fall weather, sitting outside was the perfect experience. We were in town for a wedding and ended up at the Silvermine Market after some internet searching. We ordered an omelet and the Big Breakfast Platter (with French toast). It was so delicious we decided to go back the next day with some family. We also tried the breakfast sandwich and pancakes. Again, everything was delicious. I've been here twice in four days and I think I've found my new favorite spot! As soon as you pull up you know you're at one of those classic, salt of the earth restaurants. It's a hidden gem and it's perfect that way. It has all the characteristics I (and I would think most people) want in a restaurant. Great location, not crowded, pleasant and accommodating owners, great decor and of course the most important thing- DELICIOUS FOOD. My first visit here was for breakfast. Being the procrastinator that I am I lounged around all morning and waited until I was starving until going out at noon for breakfast. I got the the market around 12:15, browsed the menu and then went up to the register to order the French toast and the Silvermine Omelet-- only problem with that was that they stop serving breakfast at 12... If it was my restaurant I would've told you that breakfast ends at noon and that would've been the end of it. The owners kindly let me know that It was passed breakfast but they made an exception for me anyway which they didn't have to do at all. I felt bad about being "that person" but not bad enough to give up that French toast! FRENCH TOAST: No exaggeration- this was Top 3 best French toast I've ever had (and it's not #3). Thick (Challah bread), Sweet, perfectly cooked with generous serving of butter. 10/10 SILVERMINE OMELET (fresh basil, tomato and goat cheese): To be honest I'm not a huge fan of goat cheese so I don't know what prompted me to get this but the omelet was the perfect contrast to the French toast. Fresh, savory, and the goat cheese made it taste just so. 8/10 On my second visit, armed with more knowledge than I had the first time, my girlfriend and I ordered off of the lunch menu. SOUP (Ida's butternut squash & Chicken Noodle): This is not an episode of Seinfeld so I'm not going rave about soup, but they were both very good. PHILLY CHEESE STEAK: This came at the recommendation of the owner who said they make their own roast beef on site. I'm not sure how to describe the difference because the only other time I've had a Philly cheesesteak was in Philly but the fact that they were on par, I think, is a compliment to the market. BAD BOY PANINI (cutlet, bacon, cheddar, tomato, ranch): CRUNCHY AND DELICIOUS and that's all you need to know! I will be back again and again and again. read more

The owner is a real character, so I could see him not being to everyone's taste, but he was a fun and engaging guy. The overall service was excellent. I've only been here once and for breakfast. Everything was superb! Eggs done to order. Sausage patty (and I'm a links guy) was perfect. Nice seasoning, but you could still taste the pork. I had 1 buttermilk pancake and it was excellent. Best of all was the home fries. Perfectly cooked and seasoned. On top of all this, the place was quaint as heck, yet immaculate. Outdoor tables and benches as well. Good internet service provided. I'd have given them 5 stars if I had more than the single experience --and perhaps if the owner had a bit less of an edge to him. Ordered a roasted whole turkey, mashed potatoes, gravy and stuffing for an early Thanksgiving dinner and everyone declared it the best they'd had in a long time. Turkey was flavorful and moist and the sides were so good people went back for seconds and thirds. Everyone thought the filling plus the crust was perfectly delicious -- that is very hard to find. I am remaining mum on the actual hot food quality-- which we tried. We had a Thanksgiving dinner at our son's house in New Canaan. We ordered the turkey and trimmings from Silvermine, as we had taken our grandkids there for lunch, and we're happy with the wraps and pancakes. The turkey, 18 pounds, was the absolute best turkey that any of us had ever had. It was moist, and truly delicious. The stuffing was perfect, as well, and every one of us had seconds or thirds!!! Took my husband for Father's Day Breakfast. Really great cup of coffee.. nice and hot and strong. Wish it was free refills since even the large isn't really enough. I was disappointed with my omelet since I got the goat cheese, tomatoes and basil omelet but I don't care for basil so I asked for without. They served me an omelet that had the very obvious basil leaves throughout and took it back when I said something. Then I got a new omelet but somehow it still tasted of basil. My husband and daughter ordered the French toast and pancakes and those really were what made this review 4 stars because they both raved about their food and a bite proved I had ordered the wrong thing. Love this wonderful place. Right around the corner. We can drop in for breakfast or order take out. They have amazing sandwiches. They are elaborate and require a lot of analysis to choose your pick of the day. I can't remember the catchy names they have but I love the (I think) CA tuna club sandwich- it has fresh tuna salad, avocado, blt, on your choice of bread. Awesome! I can only eat a half, so I have lunch for the next day. My husband loves the Italian combo sub( they have a fancy name for it) . Kids love the turkey sandwiches and salads. I stopped by Silvermine Market and had the egg sandwich and coffee. The sandwich had two eggs, cheese and bacon and was on a hard roll. It was absolutely delicious. The bacon was crispy, the eggs were just right and the coffee was filled to the brim of a dark roast which "hit the spot!" And the price was right. You could see it's popular with nearby residents and art students from the Silvermine Arts Center across the street as at least several patrons popped in by foot.
