It's an excellent hotel in many ways. My friend and I took our one year olds to Door County and shared the room. It was really nice that the room had two separate bedrooms, each with their own bathroom attached to the room. One room had a large tub whilst the other had a shower. The rooms were separated by the living area, which was great because it kept the kids separated enough that if one started make noise in the night the other one couldn't hear and decide to join in. When I say the bed SANK when I sat in it I am not kidding. I may be a fat woman, but their mattresses are either super soft or 20 years old. I was able to sleep in it without issue but I expect that some folks might find them uncomfortable... and I'm not sure how it would be sharing with someone else. When you enter the hotel, you enter on the second level. We were staying on the first. There were multiple exits to the patio spaces outside the room--one from the living area and one in each of the bedrooms. Each of the bedrooms has a television, as well as the living room. The little eat-in kitchen has a full sized refrigerator, dishwasher, and stove. They had provided dishwasher detergent which was helpful. The parking lot is apparently not quite large enough to always provide parking for guests, as they had a sign on the door telling you where additional parking was found. The hotel is not open 24 hours, but I believe they have instructions for after-hours check in (be sure you confirm if you're looking at staying here). There's a nice sized pool as well as a children's pool, but we didn't visit them this time. There may be a breakfast or something?... We weren't told about it when we got here but the woman checking us out said something about enjoying breakfast and we told her we didn't know there was one. So again, something you may want to ask about, though it would surprise me given the full kitchen.

March 12-18 2023 Stayed here for my daughter's spring break. We had the two bedroom unit with two baths. It was absolutely beautiful. Being off-season in Sister Bay, the resort was not at all full. It was a relaxing, peaceful stay. The ladies at the front desk were very friendly and helpful. The kitchen was fully stocked with just about anything you would need to cook with. Only thing missing was a wine opener and I packed one just in case. The pool was lovely- heated so no cold water to shock your senses. The hot tub was a tad on the hotter side- took a bit to get used to but still very relaxing. After returning to our room and showering, I sat out on the deck and just enjoyed the silence. The occasional owl hooting was all that I heard. Bliss. The beds were so comfortable and there were plenty of extra quilts and pillows if you needed them. This place was wonderful and we hated to leave. 100% will return.

Would stay again. It was clean and comfortable. Dated but who cares when you are out and about enjoying Door county.

The walk takes about 15 minutes and is a great way to start your day each morning. There are also kayaks, board games, tennis courts, corn hole boards, a pool and hot tub available for hotel guests. The rooms are very clean and the beds are comfy and are well appointed with bath robes, a small refrigerator/freezer, seating area and outdoor balcony for upgraded rooms with a lake view. A basic continental breakfast is offered in the lobby every morning with coffee and tea available throughout the day. This family run resort is a family favorite for a reason! The variety of breakfast is a little lacking, but it is a small operation. Our suite was a bit funky, as you walked in through one king bedroom to get to the Living area. There was another king bedroom that was lofted and both have their own en suite bathrooms with a fabulous shower, set up, with a regular head, range, showerhead, and three body sprays. There was an issue one night, where there was a constant clicking, and being a musician. I measured it with my metronome, it clicked 42 time per minute. The manager and this person went on the roof themselves to try to discover the problem, along with her HVAC service, and found the issue, comping us one entire day. We will definitely try to stay at the same resort on our next trip, and will try to book far enough in advance to get the penthouse suites!

Dorr is a lovely, comforting, modern hotel with the hot trendy Scandinavian vibe that's all the rage right now. Their open lobby is like a living room in a big beautiful home or lodge. Cozy fireplace with a bar on one side. Grab coffee or tea any time of day or night and relax by the fire, or engage in a jigsaw puzzle or game with your kids. The best part is that the location couldn't be more convenient. You can easily walk to shops, restaurants and the beach right across the street! The harbor is right there too so you can hop right over for your boating adventures. Chop, the steak house right next door is literally steps away. Famous Al Johnson's is a quick stroll (which is important to note since that place usually will form a line out the door early that lasts all day). We also enjoyed shopping, ice cream after dinner, bowling on rainy days, and Lure, the seafood restaurant (similar to Chop with emphasis on sea). Plus it's an easy drive into Ephraim, Fish Creek or Egg Harbor to enjoy what the other towns have to offer as far as shopping or dining. (I think Fish Creek has the best shopping. While my husband and sons are boating, that's my jam!) The hotel rooms all come with balconies or patios. There's a nice open courtyard with a fire table to enjoy later, or at happy hour (Chop next door has a happy hour, but so does the hotel bar). I think it would be cool if they brought a rolling bar outside for happy hour on the patio...Chop might not like that tho. The hotel rooms are padded with modern comforts one expects these days. Unless you or someone you know owns a cabin up here (which can be great too), why bother to stay somewhere else?

They have a great location atop a hill on main thoroughfare Highway 42, and a short 5 minute walk away from the heart of Sister Bay's vibrant commercial strip.  They are also a relative good value and get bonus points for having an English theme.  Having had many memorable and pleasant stays in the UK, any place that takes me back is a plus, and this place did that to a degree.   The owner and innkeeper Mike was at the desk when we arrived.  He's my kind of guy - a friendly Brit with a sense of humor.  When I said we had a party of 2 for 1 night, he dryly replied "Oh, but we have you for a party of 1 for 2 nights". As I rolled my eyes, he broke out into a chuckle, ha.  He's a native of Portsmouth, England and has owned and run this nice property for 25 years.  The 2-story property is homey, inn-like and not hotel-like, nicely and quaintly decorated in English style, and has a bar and several cozy sitting areas.  There's a 24 hour complimentary bean grinding coffee machine and the bar works on a self service guest honor system.  A swimming pool is also available in the back for those interested.  The included breakfast is comprised of a large and delicious selection, and their particularly delicious almond Danish pastry was more pie like and quite distinctive.  Each room has a name (ours was #104, the Winchester) and a small patio and it was comfortably laid out.   I really want to give this place 5 stars particularly for its location and value and theme but will have to hold back to 4 stars.   The reasons being that I didn't get a great sleep because 1) the pillows were too spongy and soft for me, 2) the king bed was a bit soft and bouncy, and 3) the wall A/C was quite loud when it kicked on briefly and frequently.    We may be back someday during the quieter heating season and try a different room (i.e., bed) also.  I may also start bringing my own pillows as my pillow complaint is not uncommon and not aimed just at the Inn here.  I really do like this place and the owner.

First time I stayed was Christmas travel. Called direct to make a reservation. It was Christmas so, He was so nice and waved the pet fee for my two large dogs. We arrived and checked in quite easily. He was helpful, answered all of our questions and gave recommendations. Very nice. On arrival. We went hiking and cove park and White dunes state park and it was cold! Snow storm. Even still, there was a really nice fenced dog area. Quite large really. There was a nice basket for toys and extra leashes, dog bags of course. The dogs loved it! They ran around and jumped on the picnic table in the middle. The room. See pics. I was very surprised. It was quite large, lots of space. Bathroom large. Plenty of space for the dog bowls. Oh wait let me say that there was a basket for pets! Dog bowls, a bag of treats, a bed and a blanket and a beloved tennis ball. So sweet. The bed and bedding was comfy with plenty of pillows. Larger room than usual in my experience. Plenty of entrances and ways to the outdoors, front desk and dog park. It is very welcoming, even during a snowy storm and cold. there are areas with comfy chairs outside with a gas fire pit that is toasty. I was surprised but it was quite nice and warm! We stayed again in January for some ice fishing and the dogs knew right what to do and where their treats and ball were. Throughout the whole hotel, there were pet decorations and just really cozy. Very clean and upkeep was amazing. The property is beautiful. They do have a small amount of wine and beer at the desk, pizza that they can make you if you're stuck in and snacks. Prices are very reasonable and convenient. Oh yeah, there is a really cute, nice pool area. We didn't use it but I would recommend it! Highly recommended! I'm not sure what it'l like in season but I would definitely recommend it in off season! They do everything right at this place. What great planning on a wonderful property!
