The rooms are very clean and the beds are comfy and are well appointed with bath robes, a small refrigerator/freezer, seating area and outdoor balcony for upgraded rooms with a lake view. A basic continental breakfast is offered in the lobby every morning with coffee and tea available throughout the day. This family run resort is a family favorite for a reason! The variety of breakfast is a little lacking, but it is a small operation. Our suite was a bit funky, as you walked in through one king bedroom to get to the Living area. There was another king bedroom that was lofted and both have their own en suite bathrooms with a fabulous shower, set up, with a regular head, range, showerhead, and three body sprays. There was an issue one night, where there was a constant clicking, and being a musician. I measured it with my metronome, it clicked 42 time per minute. The manager and this person went on the roof themselves to try to discover the problem, along with her HVAC service, and found the issue, comping us one entire day. We will definitely try to stay at the same resort on our next trip, and will try to book far enough in advance to get the penthouse suites!

The ceiling height in the rooms is pretty grand, windows are large ( but had darkening curtains). Overall while the place was busy- guests were courteous about noise levels in common areas. The common spaces were a lot of relaxing areas- just chairs and sofas and tables. They offered a small selection of board games which was nice for families. We did bring our own board games which so it was nice to have a place to be able to sit at a table with our friends and play. Outdoors there is a nice looking fire pit, but we only saw it actually in use once. The rooms have a wine fridge style fridge and a keurig. A microwave was out near the ice machine in the hall for anyone to use. They have happy hour 4-6 and offer a selection of of ciders, beer and wine discounted. The room was clean and hallways were kept nice. THE CONS: We had warned that we would be checking in late- they did make me aware that after 10pm I'd have to use a code sent to my phone and there wouldn't be staff available. So no warm greeting for us which was weird but at least I'd been warned I felt misled though on arriving to the room because the guy on the phone told me I was getting a "king suite"- what I actually got was a normal classic king room. That was a big letdown. I just wish I hadn't have had that idea put in my head. And due to the high rate $$$$ I believed it had to have been more than just the room. That was also a major drawback- every hotel online ordering place I found it it on said to "call the venue to book"- no prices published anywhere - even on their website so when calling you have no idea how much things are. As to the facilities or real extra perks- no pool/hot tub-no gym. Though my husband said they told him he could use an off-site place (not sure if there was a discount offered on that), but it didn't interest us enough to want to go figure that out. They did offer a breakfast, but the con here was that the offerings were basically anything I could have just grabbed from a grocery store store (fruit, bars, bagged boiled eggs, muffins, snack stuff) no hot breakfast here. Last cons were personal experience and will not apply to everyone, but for some reason the toilet paper irritated my skin - it was a recycled brand (which I appreciate normally on principle), but clearly it didn't agree with me. I ended up using Kleenex instead. I use a wheelchair part-time - so I didn't need an ADA room - so I never mentioned that at booking, but I was offered 2 different rooms one on the 1st floor and one on the second. Thinking I would be avoiding waiting for the elevator I chose the first floor. Unfortunately when we arrived we discovered the lobby and entrance are actually on the second floor because it's built into a hill. So to get to the first floor you have to take the elevator down- so much for my plan to help avoid the elevator. OVERALL: It was clean which is my #1 priority and it has a fantastic location. It's high end with great location and pricing reflects that- very expensive - though you won't know that until after you call to book. I feel like for the money we should have stayed elsewhere, but we were booking on short-notice.

They have a great location atop a hill on main thoroughfare Highway 42, and a short 5 minute walk away from the heart of Sister Bay's vibrant commercial strip.  They are also a relative good value and get bonus points for having an English theme.  Having had many memorable and pleasant stays in the UK, any place that takes me back is a plus, and this place did that to a degree.   The owner and innkeeper Mike was at the desk when we arrived.  He's my kind of guy - a friendly Brit with a sense of humor.  When I said we had a party of 2 for 1 night, he dryly replied "Oh, but we have you for a party of 1 for 2 nights". As I rolled my eyes, he broke out into a chuckle, ha.  He's a native of Portsmouth, England and has owned and run this nice property for 25 years.  The 2-story property is homey, inn-like and not hotel-like, nicely and quaintly decorated in English style, and has a bar and several cozy sitting areas.  There's a 24 hour complimentary bean grinding coffee machine and the bar works on a self service guest honor system.  A swimming pool is also available in the back for those interested.  The included breakfast is comprised of a large and delicious selection, and their particularly delicious almond Danish pastry was more pie like and quite distinctive.  Each room has a name (ours was #104, the Winchester) and a small patio and it was comfortably laid out.   I really want to give this place 5 stars particularly for its location and value and theme but will have to hold back to 4 stars.   The reasons being that I didn't get a great sleep because 1) the pillows were too spongy and soft for me, 2) the king bed was a bit soft and bouncy, and 3) the wall A/C was quite loud when it kicked on briefly and frequently.    We may be back someday during the quieter heating season and try a different room (i.e., bed) also.  I may also start bringing my own pillows as my pillow complaint is not uncommon and not aimed just at the Inn here.  I really do like this place and the owner.

Both times I've visited, we sat outside. It's in my top tier of places to eat in Door County. Like I said, if you are not a vegan or vegetarian, don't be scared off by the fact that most of the menu is meatless -- with flavors like this, it doesn't matter.

Larger room than usual in my experience. Plenty of entrances and ways to the outdoors, front desk and dog park. It is very welcoming, even during a snowy storm and cold. there are areas with comfy chairs outside with a gas fire pit that is toasty. I was surprised but it was quite nice and warm! We stayed again in January for some ice fishing and the dogs knew right what to do and where their treats and ball were. Throughout the whole hotel, there were pet decorations and just really cozy. Very clean and upkeep was amazing. The property is beautiful. They do have a small amount of wine and beer at the desk, pizza that they can make you if you're stuck in and snacks. Prices are very reasonable and convenient. Oh yeah, there is a really cute, nice pool area. We didn't use it but I would recommend it! Highly recommended! There's also a well-appointed great room with a huge fireplace, comfortable leather furniture and board games for gathering inside with friends. A continental breakfast was served each morning in a dining room where guests have separate tables. The breakfast was not your average continental breakfast. They had several types of delicious pastries that changed each day, fruit, juices, good coffee, hard-boiled eggs, toast, bagels and a meat/cheese plate and a fresh berry yogurt parfait on request. My husband especially liked the pecan pie bars and I enjoyed the blueberry coffee cake, rhubarb muffins and chocolate croissants. We overate daily! We had a minor issue with our AC on day two of our visit. The staff called a technician out immediately and the issue was resolved while we went about our day. The only suggestions I have for improvement is that the internet is painfully slow and the mattress in our room needed replacing--you can only get so far on a foam pad on top an old mattress.
