Absolutely amazing!! You have to check out Roots Inn for lunch. So delicious, everything we got was so fresh and well done. We had some awesome salads and tacos and the chips were to die for. Being vegetarian, this place made me so happy with all the options! There's something here for everyone! They have limited hours, so be sure to check before you go!

Such a unique and lovely hidden gem in Door County! This place is tucked away in a quiet corner right outside the usual chaos of Sister Bay. We came for lunch and were seated on the patio out back. The inside was a super cozy, rustic vibe, decorated beautifully. Their menu is small and mostly vegan. Thoigh, they do have a brat special that changes weekly (can also be made vegan). They have new specials every week, which is what I ordered. It was a curry wrap with sweet potatoes, raisins, apples, and more delicious fillings I can't quite remember. It was tasty and unique. I got the vegan kale Caesar on the side which was perfectly made. The person I was with ordered the walnut tacos and absolutely loved them, they looked delicious.

Usually with service this slow, I would give a 2 or 3 star rating but the delicious food made up for it! There were many people waiting, we ordered at the counter, and then waited for 30-40 minutes before approaching the counter and asking about the status of our food. Apparently it had been done for 20 minutes and was now cold but no one notified us that it was done. While i'm not too pleased with the service, I'm very happy there is a vegan restaurant in door county and their menu is great. I got the vegan Mac n cheese waffle and I still dream about it! So good! Will definitely be back, but will allot more time to be served.

We are vegans from out of state, and we struggled to find good places to eat that had more than just a Beyond burger and fries, etc. A local shop owner recommended Roots Inn, and this was hands down one of the best vegan meals I've had out in YEARS. Everything was fresh and delicious, and the service was quick and friendly. My daughter and my niece were also blown away by the food! I will go out of my way to come here the next time I come back!

LOVE LOVE LOVE Roots. If you are heading to Door County, this is the place to stay and eat. You can tell that owners Collin and Sara take a lot of pride in creating a special experience for guests. Pictures won't do this place justice- it's absolutely adorable and something out of a storybook! We had a great time during our stay in the cottage room! This couple clearly has an eye for design. From the quirky decor to the locally sourced menu, they have spared no little detail- which is what makes Roots so special. The rooms are squeaky clean and so comfortable, and the food and alcohol selection at the eatery is hard to beat. The hosts are amazing and accommodating- they make Roots feel like home! Trust me- you won't want to miss out on this place!

My friend and I stayed at Roots Inn for a 3 day trip to Door County and had an absolute blast. The innkeepers Collin and Sara are phenomenal at accommodating your needs, making delicious breakfasts, and giving great advice and recommendations for anything you want to do while there. The room was extremely clean and cozy and the bed was so comfortable to crash in after long days of hiking and swimming. We both would go back in a heartbeat and can't recommend it enough!

Always great food at Roots Inn & Kitchen. Excellent brat on pretzel bun...outstanding kraut, great salad, fun drink selection. We've stayed here as well...beautiful rooms & fantastic hospitality.

The food here is amazing! Absolutely delicious and a lot of it is vegan! I highly recommend stopping here during your stay in Door County. The staff is so nice and the place is clean. It's also a bed & breakfast, but we didn't stay. I hope next time there will be vacancy so we can stay. There are tv's playing sports and great music playing. I will be eating here again before our vacation is over.

Visiting Door County will forever go down in history as one of our favorite vacations, and the Roots Inn played a huge part in that. We stayed at the Inn for 2 nights, and wish we could have stayed longer. Each morning they served a delicious breakfast (accompanied by the best coffee ever.) and either Collin or Sara would sit down with us and help us map out our day. That was one of the kindest things to me, that they truly cared about our stay in Door County and wanted to make it as fun and action-packed as possible. The Inn itself is in the perfect location, walking distance to the best parts of Sister Bay. The grounds and interior were so beautifully decorated. It felt so cozy and I cannot wait to come back again! We feel so grateful that we were able to have this experience, and would recommend it to anyone looking for a relaxing and hospitable getaway.

They have a great location atop a hill on main thoroughfare Highway 42, and a short 5 minute walk away from the heart of Sister Bay's vibrant commercial strip.  They are also a relative good value and get bonus points for having an English theme.  Having had many memorable and pleasant stays in the UK, any place that takes me back is a plus, and this place did that to a degree.   The owner and innkeeper Mike was at the desk when we arrived.  He's my kind of guy - a friendly Brit with a sense of humor.  When I said we had a party of 2 for 1 night, he dryly replied "Oh, but we have you for a party of 1 for 2 nights". As I rolled my eyes, he broke out into a chuckle, ha.  He's a native of Portsmouth, England and has owned and run this nice property for 25 years.  The 2-story property is homey, inn-like and not hotel-like, nicely and quaintly decorated in English style, and has a bar and several cozy sitting areas.  There's a 24 hour complimentary bean grinding coffee machine and the bar works on a self service guest honor system.  A swimming pool is also available in the back for those interested.  The included breakfast is comprised of a large and delicious selection, and their particularly delicious almond Danish pastry was more pie like and quite distinctive.  Each room has a name (ours was #104, the Winchester) and a small patio and it was comfortably laid out.   I really want to give this place 5 stars particularly for its location and value and theme but will have to hold back to 4 stars.   The reasons being that I didn't get a great sleep because 1) the pillows were too spongy and soft for me, 2) the king bed was a bit soft and bouncy, and 3) the wall A/C was quite loud when it kicked on briefly and frequently.    We may be back someday during the quieter heating season and try a different room (i.e., bed) also.  I may also start bringing my own pillows as my pillow complaint is not uncommon and not aimed just at the Inn here.  I really do like this place and the owner.

Started with the cheese plate and very much enjoyed the selection. I wish they would have provided more bread or crackers but that is because I'm a carb lover. Additionally, we had to clarify what one of the items on the cheese plate was because it tasted like alcohol to my husband. Looked like olives or cherries. It was indeed a type of cherry and had alcohol. I was grateful we had asked before trying myself at 8 months pregnant. My husband got the pressed 1/2 chicken and we both loved it. It had an incredible depth of flavor, great seasoning. I got the braised short ribs and enjoyed these as well. However, I wished they had been served with mashed potatoes instead of what I believe were grits. We ended our meal with the flourless chocolate cake which was the perfect cherry on top. To begin with, the accommodation lacked any hot water entirely, rendering showering impossible, and the hot tub was also therefore useless. Furthermore, the presence of mold and mildew was evident, and predictably, I suffered allergic reactions, respiratory irritation, and ultimately, lung infections, which necessitated our early departure due to respiratory distress. Although a dehumidifier was provided, its filter was clogged, and despite my attempts to clean it with cold water, I discovered substantial mold growth in the unit itself. Upon inspecting the collection bucket, I found it to be in a deplorable state. When we opened the windows, we were greeted by an influx of lake flies, only to discover that the screen had become detached from the frame, which was also warped, allowing house flies to enter alongside the lake flies. Additionally, the stove was dirty, with aluminum drip bowls caked with burnt oil, which seemed like a simple matter to rectify with new replacements of four available at a reasonable cost of $12 at any Walmart. The uneven flooring, exacerbated by the addition of new vinyl over old, presented another issue, and the flooring's appearance was unappealing, potentially due to the poorly chosen color. The overall condition of the furnishings was decrepit, with the stained and smelling faux suede sofa being particularly ill-suited for high-traffic use. I also noted that the plumbing's exposed pipes detracted from the ambiance. Regrettably, the accommodation appears worn out and in dire need of renovation. The breakfast was subpar, and the provision of instant coffee was disappointing. While there are potential positives in its excellent location and pleasant grounds, I must advise against booking here until significant refurbishments are undertaken.
