I honestly cannot think of a reason to give this place a bad review as some have. First off, I've been coming to this haunt for 4 years now. Every year they have a new story line, maze, concept. So far, it's half and half in regards to the intensity. The first and last were by far my favorites and the two in between were OK but still better than any other haunt I've been to. So a little background, this place is a nonprofit and all of the actors are volunteers. All proceeds go to breast cancer research. They function year around as Ghost Town Lorraine and they have a little bar/grill. The prices at it are the cheapest you'll find in town. Seriously. Yes, it gets busy and sometimes you'll wait a while for your group to get called. That means that everybody's experience is just that, THEIRS. That's a good thing guys. Every tour you'll have a tour guide to help you get through where you're supposed to be. This is also fun because it's 100% interactive. I'd suggest NOT wearing nice clothing, most of the times I've gone, I've seen people in hunting clothes or just very casual wear. You WILL get doused with fake blood and YES it DOES wash out. If you pay attention to the video you have to watch before you start, they even give you advice as to how to clean your clothes. I've never had a problem with it. The actors DO touch/grab you, if you're reactionary, don't go. If you're claustrophobic, you may not want to go. All I'm saying is this, after going to this for four years and finally hitting up House of Torment, I wasn't scared of the latter. I knew they didn't blood you or grab you. Therefore, I just entered every room doing the robot and talked smack to the actors. This place also has a bonus haunt called The Boneyard that's a maze and the actors will SURELY grab you. If you're a stick in the mud or have a stick up your a$$, you probably should sit this one out. read more

So let me start out by saying I'm not a haunted house person... or at least I didn't think so before this experience but this is SO FUN. It is amazing what this group of volunteers put together. They spend months building and creating a different world. I knew this was for charity but when you are actually there you get to see how much time and effort people have put in and it's really awesome. BUY TICKETS IN ADVANCE- they tend to sell out! I went with a couple of friends on a Thursday night. When you arrive you sign a waiver (yikes) and then watch a video of rules. Next (at least this year) we were taken on a scary bus ride and off to a zombie apocalypse! Going through the haunted house you interact with very talented actors and you can joke around with them and make the experience unique. You absolutely will leave covered in "blood" but don't worry- it washes off (eventually). It was scary but also just really fun. I can't wait to go back again next year! read more

Every year has been a blast. I think this year (2013) was more fun than last. I really enjoyed the Zombie Wasteland Haunt a few years ago but i don't think they'll do that haunt again. Always go as "RED LEVEL"!! I would suggest you stick to the main attraction "Fairy tail Nightmare" and not do the side attractions unless you're a hardcore person and always have to do everything a Haunt has to offer! The Boneyard was OK for $5 but I wouldn't do it again. We didn't do the other haunt so I cant comment on it. I would do the Fairy tail Nightmare again tho! Regardless, this is the best Haunt around that Ive been to. Plus they are nonprofit and always treat you right! Actors are really cool and like to chat and make you feel welcome. My friends & I had an awesome time!! Do not wear your nice clothing! There was WAY more blood than in previous years! It was an extremely interactive experience. We had to find clues, run, climb a few boxes, crawl, choose whose side we were fighting on, & there were a few surprises. The crawl spaces had padding & my group found it very doable even for those in the group who are less active. I would recommend it to anyone. I am also reviewing the experience- not the cause . I was actually excited that it was located in a remote area out of town (better setting right?). The ticket booth was un organized. We went up to check-in and were told to come back in 15 min. So we saw what looked like a bar and heard music. We were rudely run off from back there by a volunteer who said we couldn't be back there before going through the haunted house- so they missed out on selling us some drinks. So we went back up front and waited and waited, and were finally called back in our group. And there we waited in a barn/ camp counselor setting for over an hour. Why purchase tickets for 8:15 when you don't go through the haunted house until an hour later. We were starving by this point. The whole experience was advertised as 45 min. We arrived at 7:50 and left at 10:15. Wow! Sorry not worth the time or the scare (which it was not scary) even it was for a good cause. read more

Thought someone from Scare for Cure would comment about the complaints first...since they were soooo wrong. First those whining kids forget this is a CHARITY event run by NONPAID volunteers, so you have to cut them some slack. First day shows are always problematic even Disney had issues:p Second that first section is just a holding area, not part of the haunt. If you have been to Scare for Cure in past ya'll would know that. They just keep us there until it is our turn to go through. Next on opening night the director came out and addressed us telling us there had been some issues, and offered us all free tickets to to the Boneyard or Mystery at Ghost Town as compensation for the issues. So poor taste complainers, poor taste. I had fun anyway, cool costumes, makeup and storeline. Didn't have time to check the other attractions though. read more

This year was my fifth year going. I usually love it. Very interactive with good actors and for a worthy cause. Best haunted house in the country, or at least out of what I have experienced. I signed up to be in the first "red" group on opening day. This year was lacking. The storyteller in the waiting area couldn't read very well. He kept losing his place. We were told to find "George", but then there was no George. We were told to give the "dog bones" to the werewolves. I still have my clay bone. The ending also wasn't finished. As a consolation, I went through the maze. I was told not to push on the walls of the maze. However, after going back and forth looking for the exit, the chainsaw guy finally told me I had to push on the wall to open a door. Would have been better to be a bit more obvious about the exit. The group that went in after me had the same problem. Overall, I would recommend it highly, but go later on in the season, not opening day. That way they should have all the kinks worked out. read more
