It's an okay show. I laughed a little bit not as much as I expected to. It's relatively inexpensive entertainment at less than $15 a person, that is if you don't calculate in the cost of an Uber to avoid parking downtown (~$24 RT). They offer a full service bar and pizza by the slice ($5/ea which is a rip-off as a personal size pizza upstairs is 6 pieces and around $12.99). We were smart and arrived about an hour and a half early to eat upstairs. The food and service at 49th did much better for me this second visit. Each show is unique to the crowd that suggests topics and such. Think Drew Carey's Who's Line is it Anyway? I don't think I'd see this show again unless invited and paid for by a friend ;) read more

This place gets five stars based on the fact nothing compares in Anchorage, at least that I have found. This is just great, fun entertainment! The show is only $10.00 (don't forget to leave a tip!), affordable and a great Saturday night. It runs about two hours with only a ten minute intermission in between. read more

It was an ok show. If you have ever seen who's line, you have already seen the much better version of this. Although it's the only kind of fun of its type in anchorage, you would be better off spending your money elsewhere. read more

I…read morefeel like Koots is somewhat of an institution to the town so I was definitely curious about the bar. I'm glad I went to check it out, but outside of going there for a show I don't see myself going back. Seriously gave me college bar/frat house basement party vibes. Considering I went to a Big 10 school in the middle of Illinois I'm very well versed in that type of establishment/vibe. It's not exactly the kind of place I want to go to as a 30 something year old. I went there for a burlesque show. Shout out to Pulse Dance Company! The show was amazing and tons of fun. The bar itself I don't think has had any updates since like maybe 1995, and that estimate is probably generous. This bar was probably the place to be when it first opened, but now it's kind of just tired and sad. It could probably be better if they took the time & money to renovate it, but they don't really have an incentive since people go there regardless. Koot's kind of just exists, but considering Anchorage is the biggest metropolitan area Alaska has it's a confusing type of establishment to find here. If you're looking to party though it seems to be the spot!
