Love love LOVE it. After driving by a bajillion times, constantly saying to myself a million times that I *really* needed to check it out, and a recommendation from Lauren S, I finally made it in to this awesome spot on Ponce. As much as I loved the entire place, it certainly isn't for everyone. Furniture, clothes, shoes, and knickknacks are all haphazardly stacked on top of one another. It takes AT LEAST 4 or 5 laps around the store to get a sense that you're seeing everything, and even after an hour perusing the wares I still wondered what goodies I had left behind. You've got to be up for the hunt to find the treasures. I did manage to walk out with the most phenomenal vintage coat and dress, all for a total steal given their quality and condition. Be sure to head to the back and upstairs for the 1/2 off loft, where things are disgustingly cheap. I can't believe I left a chair behind up there. Yes, I may have to completely reconfigure my apartment set up to find a place to put it, but I absolutely loved it and it was $40. Yeah, and in perfect condition. My only regret is not finding this place sooner: I would have happily outfitted my entire place (and closet) from their wares, and could have saved some money doing so. Service is friendly and willing to haggle: exactly the kind of small local shops you want to support these days. read more

Ya'll should know, I dont do haggling. Car lots, flea markets, garage sales, consignments/thrift stores... that whole let's make a deal experience is a wasted effort. Im all about efficiency when shopping; all I need is the asking price and if I feel it's REASONABLE I'll gladly pay it. So given that, I figured I was going to leave this experience empty handed. Alright seriously, this place is literally PACKED to the ceiling and full of great finds, but you gotta dig through it all. I came here looking for bar stools and sadly, I didn't find any. However, I did see a really cool dental assistant chair with an adjustable back that I REALLY wanted, but it was out of my budget (it was perfect). =( I then noticed a light brown leather chair (Oh! a recliner you say!) sitting just out the sun and thought, "ugh, she probably wants a ridiculous amount of money for it; that's not going to happen." I had this feeling because it was a GREAT looking chair and in my previous life I sold high end furniture and (k)new chairs like this sell for $1500-$2000, easy. I immediately asked her the price for the chair, she said make me an offer. **Sigh* HEEEEEERE WE GO!** So, based on my knowledge I balanced the condition of the chair, the quality of the product (Lazy-boy), my budget, and what I thought was a fair price....I then blurted out my number. Without a blink she said, "okay, that's what I was hoping to get for it." Well that was easy. Considering she didnt have a counter offer my next thought was, "you schmuck, you went too high!!" But hey, it's a nice chair in good condition and I got it for a great price. I saw the ottoman after they cleared overflow items from the isles. It's covered in fancy and I had to have it! Yeah, I know what you're thinking; why did I get an ottoman when the chair is a recliner? Uhhh, did you see the pic of the ottoman? It's AWESOME! That's why!! So next time I'll bring my haggling-gifted friends with me but today I think I got two great pieces for a cheap price. The delivery was free but she asked that I tip the two guys since it was a gargantuan recliner in 300 degree weather.(Duh!) =) Complaints? The sign says they open from "12ish-7ish." Ummmm, they very well should've just put 12CP-7CP. Yeeeeah, just call first, really. I was there at 12pm, stayed till 12:20, ran some errands while driving by it several times still weren't open at 12:55. It was sometime after 1pm that I had given up when I drove by and saw them open for business. read more

Love at first sight. The way the shop has their items on the sidewalk is a visual feast. Each item artfully placed around the corner of the shop begs you to come closer. Upon entering there are treasures stacked to the ceiling. Each item lovingly and thoughtfully placed, creating one giant art installation. The woman who I assume is the owner was so passionate about her treasures. She put her hand over her heart, sighed, and looked up to the heavens with a big smile as she talked about her shop. Scarlett Loves Rhettro and I love 'em both. This store is phenomenal. There's all kinds of discoveries to be made -- books, furniture, clothes, record players, thimbles, pins, you name it. It definitely requires deliberative and patient exploration. Unfortunately for us, what we wanted to buy wasn't for sale [shelving, namely]. But the owner was super friendly and offered to keep her eye out for the elusive shelves we need to properly display our vintage collections of thingamibobs. As soon as we settle into new digs, we'll be stopping by Scarlett Loves Rhettro to outfit the new chapter in our lives. read more

Sorry, I'm not as high on it as others. Maybe it was the weather? Maybe it was the TV sets in the background (versus nice music playing over speakers as it was next door at The Fainting Couch)? Maybe it was the mildewy/dusty smell that was everywhere? Maybe it was the puddles of water on the stairs as you tried to go upstairs to see what was in the loft but it was too crowded and dark so you came back down (how do you like my attempt to change my typical writing style into just long run-on sentences?)? Yes, there was interesting stuff (size 19 sneakers anyone?), but my vibe was that you'd have to Martinize or irradiate or whatever the term that is used today to indicate major disinfectant before wearing/using. read more

Cool stuff with shady people running the joint. The special 50% off floor became "oh we just stored it up here there's no half off that" as soon as I showed interest in something. Same thing happened with something on the main show room. Quoted one price then quoted $15 more five minutes later. Really people? Are you trying to sell these things or is this your personal collection? I will admit it's an impressive and interesting collection and definitely worth seeing. read more

What a gem! If you like treasure hunting this is the place, but be forewarned, Scarlet's is literally stuffed to the rafters, and some of the best stuff is hard to get to; agility and persistence will be rewarded. I was there for about half an hour and barely scratched the surface. This is and old style antique store. Make sure you check it out of you're in the neighborhood. read more

Scarlett loves Rhettro- I've always passed by and wondered what all that stuff is, sitting out on the street. Finally had a chance to stop in, and it was interesting indeed. First, Its sorta dark. We stepped in from the hot summer daze, and it was like stepping into a cave. Most of the store is home goods, typewriters, furniture, record player. Its all pretty cool, the price is on the high side though. And the clutter makes it a little hard to get through. The 2nd floor is 1/2 off, however, its just a tiny little platform. There was a mint record player that I eyed, but I asked and it doesn't work. I'm really thankful that the owner is straightforward to tell me that. I liked her and her style, she has all the prices memorized (kinda), and seemed very sweet. Certainly is a local business owner I'd like to support when I have my own home. read more

Great name, but I was expecting so much better after reading some of the Yelp reviews. My friends that came with are experts when it comes to thrifting, but even they felt like this place fell short of the mark. Some interesting things caught my eye, but nothing that made me think "WOW!" Also, the guy sitting on a chair that was for sale eating some odd-smelling food that he kept setting down on a poor vintage table (also for sale) made me cry a little inside. It seemed like the owners cared less about keeping everything nice for the customers and only wanted to push a sale. So not like our dear Miss Scarlett, and with god as my witness, I will never go thrifting here again. Which is sad because again, great name, tons of items to look through, but it didn't feel like a solid community experience. read more

I don't get it. I found this place dirty and really overpriced ($40 for clip-ons...REALLY?). There are so many better places in the city and even OTP that offer awesome vintage treasures without the dust and mildew. Old doesn't have to be dark and dirty. Meh, I will stick to Highland Row, My Favorite Place, etc. for vintage fix. read more

Ummm.. so yea, my eyes hurt!!! Because there was soooo much to look at!! (in a good way) Wow, anything you could probably ever want is probably located in this store from vintage wares, records, artwork, knickknacks, furniture, etc! The owner "Scarlett" was more than nice .(check out the store on Facebook) Although I didn't find anything on this visit I will definitely be checking in more frequently. Ps. i love antique/vintage shops cos they're always full of fun surprises and SlovesR definitely fits the bill. the owner must have an obsession with owls though, because there's lil wooden owls, owl sculptures, owl jewelry everywhere. felt like i should've walked around with a tootsie roll pop. anyway - lots of random gadgets (clothes, shoes, and jewlery) and on occasion something from five years ago from nine west, it's got a great assortment of thingamabobs. it's similar to the fainting couch next door but with a larger surface area (go up to the top floor, if you're short like me, it's the only time you'll feel tall - love low ceilings). buuut i thought the stuff here was a little pricey (i don't think i saw any jewelery less than $30 and that was a little excessive for what i saw), just not really... accessible to the average person. so, i'll come back to see what new things the owner's acquired, but probably not with the intention of buying anything. read more

I absolutely LOVED this shop. Everything was reasonably priced and I just wished I lived in the Atlanta area to buy more stuff! Had I not flown Spirit Airlines from Ft Lauderdale I probably would have bought one of their vintage suitcases and filled it with stuff! Great job on a funky fun shop. read more

This one is right beside of the Fainting Couch. It's a larger store filled with interesting things. I feel like it is on the pricier side compared to other antique shops I've been to. There are a lot of random things to see here, but just not a lot of what I usually look for. The staff is very friendly. If you love discovering new antique shops, this one could be worth a visit (especially if you'll be in the area for the Fainting Couch anyway ^_^) read more

You know you've happened upon a little slice of vintage heaven when the first thing you see upon cracking the door is a big 'ole picture of the grand master of STUFF, Fred G Sanford, behind the register. And it just got better from there. I LOVE the owner. She's fabulous. Friendly and willing to find what I call "the sweet spot" price. That place where she makes money, and I still get a deal. I walked out of there with a beautiful hat, a couple of dresses, a mannequin head to model said hat, and absolutely no buyers regret. Unless you count the Sanford picture. This is a Great little place...seek and you shall find! Eclectic mix reasonably priced!

While the store has some cool stuff (especially the furniture outside--the chairs look beautiful), nothing in this shop is well kept or maintained. Is this a store or someone's hoarder's closet? It's hard to tell. If you expect to get any sort of customer service here, you're looking in the wrong place--it took me 20 minutes to get a simple price quote on something (there are no price tags on anything), and I heard her give a completely different quote on the same item to someone else! I also asked about a pair of figurines, were told that they normally sold for $60, only to find the same ones on eBay for $10 shipped! The only things that could possibly be worth it are the chairs the store has outside, but keeping delicate fabrics out on the street, where they get contaminated by the disgusting fumes from the main street this store is on is a horrible decision. I would be worried to bring in any of those pieces of furniture into my house and I assume the price of fully cleaning the grime out of those pieces would be more than the chairs are worth! Venture to the nearby thrift store (right next door) for a better experience. read more
