My desiderium was to purchase one large storage wicker basket with inner cloth lining, but to no avail as I am characteristically organized in both my living and workplace space environment. Or, purchase one large raffia storage box with lid. I also wanted the classic chocolate chip (no nuts) cookies, but to no avail. Surprising Bird-in-Hand Farmers Market is open and operational on July 4th, 2026 holiday. Customer service is mediocre. There is a large souvenir gift shop in the lower level via schlepping one flight of stairs. It is not ADA accessible. There is no stair climber available either. Ergo, for the mobility challenged take caution and there is very low headroom in the stairwell. My party of three has always patronized to support local souvenir gift shops as tourists - past and present. Personally, I believe in patronizing brick and mortar local souvenir gift shops drives the local economic tourism. We are non-Pennsylvanians. The souvenir T-shirts are hugely extortionate priced at $19.99. This gift shop reminisce nostalgia of Hallmark stores for mugs, decorative pens, bookmarks, post cards, magnets, pins, printed recipe books, small journals, wall calendar year 2027, et al. The costume jewelry was also hugely extortionate priced $19.99. I freely walked the aisles to browse and circled back. There many home decor items of rural country flair. I purchased one post card of Amish horse buggy with a farm field $0.50, one Pennsylvania shape magnet $1.99, and one lighthouse shape coaster $2.99. I have a small collection of post cards from travels. I actually needed a coaster for my workplace desk as I am currently using a makeshift coaster of my own arts and craft creation. I love lighthouses for the long history, significance, contribution to navy and maritime industry, including aesthetic of nature scenic local landscape emitting a sense of peace. I did receive a sales receipt printed from a very dated cash register.

I strolled all the aisles, got coffee, a donut, a cinnamon roll, and a bacon egg and cheese sandwich surprisingly on a pretzel. Everyone was friendly, lovely scene, amazing smells. I'm a glam country girl and will forever be. Flowers, plants, fruit, vegetables, farm fresh meats, dairy, bakery items, etc, etc, etc. High quality, always fresh. Store is always clean. They just did an expansion of the store making more space for product placement & customers to roam. I love the open market feel. Staff...always friendly professional. I could have a bad day and coming here instantly cheers me up. Prices... health costs money but copays cost more. You choose. Parking... decent. The turnover is quick and I've never had to wait to park. People are usually in & out. Issues... the only herbs they sell is cilantro. I'm ok with that (mostly). But I really wish they had mint & basil. They are closed during winter. Makes sense but... Those are the longest 4 months for me.

They had been to a wedding where they were served Dangerously Delicious Pie, a DMV classic. On Main St just west of the B&O Museum, we passed the Old Ellicott City Farmers Market in Tiber Park. And there they were: Dangerous Pies!!! I dropped everyone off and parked about a quarter mile away in the big lot west of Old Columbia Pike. It's the biggest parking lot nearby, and free :-), or you can hunt through a couple of other nearby smaller free and paid lots. There's around ten vendors, fruits and veggies of course, flowers, fresh-baked breads, and fresh-roasted coffee beans and beverages. We got sandwiches from Le Table: a classic ham gruyere béchamel Croque Monsieur on soft sweet brioche, and a turkey egg cheese on flakey buttery croissant. Also a tender bacon egg and cheddar breakfast crepe from Crepe Shoppe. All of them were made with tasty fillings and fresh bread. We got a thick soft chocolate-chip oat cookie from Bitty Bread. And then our real target, the pies! We had tart sweet yellow (not-bright-green) key lime in a "yummy yummy" crumbly crust, and sweet apple in a flaky-crust as good as my grandma's (almost :-). Pies as good as they remembered from the wedding. Pie pie pie pie pie! We hadn't been to this market before. I think it started just last May! It's nice when guests remind you to visit cool local events like this. The Old Ellicott City Farmers Market runs Saturdays 9-1 until Oct 25th.

It's located right in the city of Baltimore under the highway bridge on E Saratoga St. Street parking is free and i guess there is a way to reserve parking in line now. Mercy hospital has also offered free parking in an adjacent lot. The market is open on Sundays for the season and is such a delight. The vendors are very busy but eager to assist. The prices are fair. Need a coffee fix? The local Zeke's coffee is on site to assist! Many fresh foods, plants, and seafood to choose from. Definitely worth a visit!

This market is open year round on Sundays and in the summer they add Saturdays. The covered pavilion hosts a variety of vendors. Beyond farmers selling fruits and veggies there are vendors selling seafood, cheese, baked goods, coffee, jewelry, pickled veggies, jams, and illustrated note cards among other local items. The parking lot can be busy, especially in the summer months, but spots turn over quickly.
