Awesome shop if you like fragrances and want to test before you buy, which everyone should with the prices of niche fragrances being over $200, $300, and even $400... it's always fun to ask the people working on their opinion since they have a lot of experience in the field and they genuinely want you to walk out with something you or the person you're buying for like. My only complaint is that the company isn't very competitive with the online market which can make it difficult to buy from them despite the advantage of being able to test. I can understand why but as the consumer, I think this is something to be considered. read more

I was on the hunt for perfumes d'Annam, a Vietnamese luxury perfume brand and found out Scent Bar had them. So I went to go sniff some and I bought a bottle of the Princess of China collection. It's beautiful and lovely with some floral notes! They carry some good perfume brands here that you cannot find at Sephora or Nordstrom. It's worth coming here! The young man who helped me was very nice and helpful. Unfortunately I did not get his name but thank you! Came in with my husband on Saturday(10/18) afternoon. The only person who acknowledged us was the long haired dude. It doesn't feel cool spirited, more like one of those tiny perfume stores that sell old dated stuff aka "classics". Pretentious lil store tbh - the older short curly haired woman with a mask on kept glaring at me and her stares gave off condescending shitty energy, like what? You're there to sell perfumes? lol The store is not big, their product placement is so disorganized. The space feels overwhelmingly suffocating when it comes to perfume shopping. Not sure if your sign of staying no more than 45 mins is a nice touch for real fragrance fanatics either.. Hyped. Pretentious workers. Disorganized store. So many great independent fragrance stores in LA shout out to The Scent Room & Beverly Hills Perfumery, don't waste your time with the pretense. P.S. As a long time online patron, I was so excited to visit the brick and mortar location. Let me say it didn't dissapoint! The location is small, but packed with fragrances. It was a little busy when we came in, but we were greeted warmly and promptly. I attended a launch party last night at this beautiful, exciting perfume shop. It was a magical evening and now I realize how important it will be for me to come back to Scent Bar on a quiet afternoon and take in the extensive inventory, which is organized by type of overall accord (the blending of individual notes to form a category of scent, such as, fruity, floral, food-like or gourmand, spicy, smoky, leathery, green, etc., etc.). Having become a passionate fan of the perfume industry (from childhood, actually, as my father was a perfumer and designer aerosols pioneer), I have been plugged in to the influencers who guide us through what is now a deep and labyrinthine maze of new and old fragrances from every type of perfume house, genre, and generation. The expertise at Scent Bar helps customers navigate this complex world so we can make wise choices and smell heavenly. The impetus for the party was the launch of a brand new offering from the elegant Italian house, Jus Box. Honestly a very... educational luxury fragrance experience I walked in and immediately got to enjoy what felt like a live demonstration of store culture: staff and another customer were openly discussing a frequent visitor who apparently enjoys coming in to smell fragrances quite often. It was quite reassuring to see such transparency; most places still insist on pretending customers don't exist in conversation until they physically leave. There was a really interesting unspoken structure to the space where sampling fragrances (or sorry, experiencing them) felt perfectly welcome right up until it became a repeated behavior, at which point it seamlessly transitions into group commentary. Very efficient emotional pricing model. The fragrances themselves were, of course, positioned at that very confident price tier where you naturally assume you're supposed to be perceiving layers of craftsmanship, narrative, and perhaps a subtle philosophical message. I did my best to engage with all of that, but mostly ended up appreciating how strongly branding and storytelling can carry a product when the scent itself is still loading. Overall, I left with a deeper understanding that in some spaces, the real luxury isn't the perfume, it's the ability to enjoy it quietly enough to avoid becoming part of the next conversation read more

Ronny was especially helpful, and gave me fantastic recommendations based off of the notes, accords, and fragrance genres I enjoy the most. He's so genuinely kind, charming, and knowledgeable about all things Perfume. He took the time to answer my questions, and show me all the fragrances I was curious to try. Met up with a perfumer to try out his line and ended up having a great time trying all the niche fragrances, meeting a couple of the staff and having genuine conversations with other fellow frag heads. This is located in a chill part of Beverly Blvd. Street parking is available. Upon walking in, you are immediately hit with a wall of fragrances. Oddly enough, i managed to adjust to it in a few minutes and smelling scents was not compromised. This is small but mighty store. All the scents that I have read about are available for me to try with a very knowledgeable staff with great enthusiasm for fragrances. read more

i've been to nyc, dtla, and now this location- which did not disappoint. the only mistake i made was coming in on a sunday afternoon- it was so crowded- Suzanne (sp) that was helping me-bless her. She was so attentive, even though there were so many other people around. As always, I never leave this place empty-handed! This is one of my favorite places to be, it's a little slice of heaven on earth, whichever location you go to. they are never forceful, they are so helpful and they will most likely find you something you love. I visited this boutique with my mother earlier today and was a little disappointed with the experience. Upon walking in, we weren't greeted or acknowledged, and it took about five minutes before anyone asked if we needed assistance. Once we did receive help, a nice gentleman came over and was wonderful, super informative, friendly, and made the experience enjoyable for a moment. However, the older lady with curly reddish hair was the opposite. She came across as unfriendly and unwelcoming, which overshadowed the positive interaction. The boutique itself has a lovely selection, but the customer service felt inconsistent. A little more warmth and attentiveness when guests walk in would go a long way in making the shopping experience match the quality of the products. I also recommend coming here to smell all the niche perfumes you've been wanting to try then looking online for better deals. I looked online and one of the perfumes I liked the most and found it for nearly 50% less than what they were selling it for. Of course some you won't find cheaper online but many of the bigger names you can find discounted. read more

Ok. I walked into the store today with a 10 year-old perfume sample that was empty. A literal small, empty perfume sample vial that I had gotten from this location 10 years ago when sampling perfumes. I didn't know the name of the scent but I loved it. The guy behind the counter, I believe his name is Johnny, was incredible. I gave it to him not really expecting him to know, but I figured it was worth a shot. He was very excited and within five minutes had figured it out. I was floored. I thought there was no chance. These people know their stuff. I'm a repeat LuckyScent shopper, and finally made it to their Beverly brick & mortar. Since it was a weekday afternoon, I thought it might not be too busy, and was surprised to see about a dozen customers. The two staff members seemed busily engaged with them, and we went around the store spraying perfumes onto testing papers. Signs everywhere warned us not to stay longer than 45 minutes which felt kind of hostile, and wasn't a tactic I'd ever encountered before. Imagine, for example, your favorite boutique telling you that you can only try on three outfits and then you have to leave. With scents, after about 15 minutes or so, my experience is that everything starts to smell the same anyway. Many of the other customers left within a few minutes after we arrived, and soon there were only two others. We were still almost deliberately ignored. I hate sales associates who hover just as much as anyone does, but at least say hi, or nod, or smile? We took a second circuit around the small (but packed!) store, admiring bottles and checking out a few interesting options we hadn't tried. And then we left. The good: I got to test a few scents I'd been reading about. The less good: getting smacked with "you're not our desired customer" vibes. Why, I can only speculate, but reading the reviews on Yelp, seems like blowing off customers is a Scent Bar corporate value. You want to sell fragrance, but only to the right kind of people? Hands down one of the worst experiences I've ever had. Called before to place a fragrance on hold. When I walked in neither of the two associates greeted or even acknowledged my presence. I took a moment to look around and test some of their scents and after 10 minutes or so, still not even a slight gesture of a "hello". The pretentious guy with the ponytail made eye contact maybe 4x without a word. The lady at the front checking me out was on her phone the entire time I was waiting to be rung up. Came into the shop looking to try Sumo Wrestler by J-Scent after reading some great reviews online. Johnny was the first to welcome me in. For context, I was the only one in the shop during my entire stay. He's got this we've been friends since childhood essence. Super personable, conversational, and has this Nick Swardson vibe. Somebody get this man a beer or I'll do it. Oh and the Potato Chips Deli was bomb, great call. Initially I wasn't too big on Sumo Wrestler upon first spray, but Johnny didn't hesitate to introduce me to a handful of different fragrances that he thought I'd like and most of his suggestions were on point. He introduced me to one that I was a fan of off the bat, and mentioned that they also do a travel size for $45 after I expressed my interest. I didn't hesitate to add it to my cart, but he insisted I sprayed it onto my skin beforehand. Yes, I loved it regardless and he could've just sold it to me without me ever spraying it on my skin, but the fact he kindly insisted on skin testing it first is an example of A class service. It put a smile on my face knowing that there are still diamonds in the rough working in the retail industry. I was able to take home a few samples on top of everything. From grass smelling fragrances, to another fragrance I discovered thanks to Dana's story about a time she had smelled it in an elevator. To Johnny and Dana, thank you for being so authentic and candid. It's refreshing to be able to discuss different topics like what's the todays Santal 33 and hear your perspectives and learn from your wisdom. read more

The service i received from Tiffany was everything i had hoped for prior to entering; she was so knowledgeable and knew my palette better than i could describe. Absolute top notch service. Promote this woman immediately -- she knows how to provide great service. At one point i told her that i trusted her nose over my own. The best little shop, would be Michelin rated (as in -- worth detouring to stop by) if there were such a thing for perfume stores. This was the most disappointing retail experience I ever had. Context: I buy most of my scents from luckyscent and loved my experience at their NYC location (shoutout to Ezra who was literally the best). However DTLA was a different story. Experience: There were 3 people - Dana, Steve, and one other person (brunette). My partner and I were acknowledged by noone in the store, and considering how small it is, you really have to actively to ignore someone to do so. This was a totally different experience from the couple who came in before us and were not people of color. When we decided to leave, there was also no acknowledgement (eg "bye" / "thanks for dropping in"). It was just active ignorance of our presence the entire time in a small space that had no other customers at the time. I asked Dana for help getting some perfumes behind her, but felt like it was a burden for her in the way she acted. I noticed for the couple before me, she went through the smells and backstory behind the perfume. However for my partner and I, she just handed it to me and then went back to talking to the other two employees in the store. I did not feel like this was an inclusive space, which was totally different from my NYC experience, but also I feel against the mission of what luckyscent / scent bar is supposed to be (as per their website "Scent Bar was created to be a comfortable and relaxing place to experience our incredible selection of independent niche perfumes"). I was so disappointed especially because I was really looking forward to seeing Dana and Steve in person (I'm sure everyone watches the IG livestreams and YT videos). I ended up leaving earlier than expected and not buying a perfume for my friend's wedding because my partner and I felt so uncomfortable. As feedback for the team, I don't think you need to have the most in-depth conversations w/ clients who come in, but I do believe it is important to at least acknowledge their presence, especially when they are coming in to buy something more highly priced. I hope it gets better / addressed because luckyscent, for me, has always been a place of safe and comfortable discovery of fragrances. I am really disappointed that wasn't the experience my partner and I had when we came here, and hope others don't experience that as well. read more

I Love this place. I rarely go in because well, I want everything. If you're new to the world of scents it can be a bit intimidating, specially niche, if you are new, I recommend familiarizing yourself with yourself, with what you like and what energy you're trying to fill you space. Sometimes staff may of had a bad day, so just remember that you can be the sunshine of their day. Sometimes insecurity can come off as mean They have videos on their website and the same guy in the video is the guy at the store. :) Perfume people can be Particular. Parking can be a bit difficult but that's okay, If you call On your parking Angel you you'll find a spot right in the front. Loved this place! I've been wanting to come here for a while because I'm into collecting perfume. I definitely prefer this location compared to their downtown one. I felt like it was organized great by mood & scent profile. Their staff was great super helpful & I didn't feel like a burden asking them for help reaching bottles or asking recommendations based on what I liked they gave me a lot of new perfumes I liked. I spent over an hour in there! I ended up purchasing Lira by Xerjoff but had to pick it up at the DTLA location because they didn't have the 100ml bottle in stock but they got that all arranged for me easily. They also packaged me some samples to try out first. Would definitely recommend this place! They have so many unique perfumes u can't get at ur local department stores or malls.
