There's also a couple of events where a very skilled artist gets to paint any candle you purchase from the house while you are drinking bubbly champagne. I visited Frederic Malle today, and it was truly a wonderful experience. At other perfume stores, I've sometimes felt a bit unwelcome--like I was being a bother just by wanting to try a few scents. But this place was completely different. The moment I stepped in, I was greeted warmly, and the entire space felt inviting. All the fragrances I tried were unique, elegant, and surprisingly gentle--none of them gave me a headache like some perfumes do. Honestly, there were so many beautiful scents that I had a hard time choosing just one. Anthony, the staff member who helped me, was incredibly kind and knowledgeable. He explained everything so clearly and even sprayed combinations of perfumes to let me experience how different layers of scent can work together. When I told him about my preferences, he immediately understood and recommended exactly the types of fragrances I would love--and he was right. I wanted to take them all home! Since these are luxury perfumes, I decided to purchase just one for now, but Anthony kindly gave me samples of the other fragrances I liked. That thoughtful gesture made me so happy. I'll definitely be back to explore more--and likely buy another. Today reminded me how important a good, kind, and professional staff member is. This review is long overdue, but I had a great experience at this boutique. I'm new to fragrance but my coworker highly recommended to try out Frederic Malle fragrances. A sweet lady named Rosie sat me and my friends down and just showed us fragrances, it was so much fun! Rosie's suggestions were absolutely spot-on, I ended up loving the classic Portrait of a Lady. It was nice that I got to relax with my friends and just have fun smelling perfume, Rosie was very helpful and informative. Definitely if you're visiting LA or are in the area, I highly recommend stopping by this boutique. The people here are really sweet! I am no fan of Estée Lauder and their portfolio of faux-artisanal fragrance brands: Le Labo, Jo Malone, Tom Ford, Kilian Paris, Aerin. Lauder Companies has a terrible habit of buying (or just manufacturing) small niche perfume brands and jacking up the price to levels even more outrageous than they were before while using their economies of scale to make the products cost less and less. It's a blatant, insulting cash grab -- especially given that only between 3%-6% of the cost of an average bottle of perfume actually goes to making the juice inside. The packaging usually costs more than its contents. So when Estée Lauder bought Éditions de Parfums Frédéric Malle in 2015, my heart sank. Éditions de Parfums has commissioned fragrances from some of the perfumers ever. While most "artisanal" fragrances are rather simple, linear, and lack those bright and shiny cutting-edge ingredients from the big molecule houses (IFF, Givaudan, Firmenich, etc.), Éditions de Parfums makes scents as complex as the biggest blockbuster new flagship from Dior, Chanel, or Guerlain. Actually, because they give their perfumers wide latitude to express their creativity, their scents are generally more complex than big designer products. Éditions de Parfums recalls what the great perfumes of years ago were like, when mainstream companies put out masterpieces for the masses. It's just unfortunate that Estée Lauder keeps pushing the prices to truly obscene limits, at nearly $300 for most 100 mL/3.4 oz. bottles, and over $200 for a half-size. A mere 10 mL spray will cost between $58 and $78 dollars, depending on the fragrance. I really want to give them one star just for their downright offensive pricing policy, but the service I got from Leyvin, the store manager, recently was too good for me to do that. She was so kind and patient and just wonderful to spend time with while I pored over the collection, hemming and hawing on what I wanted to do. I even came back a little while later after deciding that one of the scents I purchased was not working as it dried down, and she was more than accommodating with my request to exchange it. That kind of service is rare and wonderful, and it turned me into a customer despite my griping about the prices. In fact, I've already told friends I want to take them their so they can lost their money just like I lost mine. Share the pain: That's my motto. read more

This was the most wonderful part of my day today! After navigating the traffic on Melrose Place, and finally parking four blocks away, I entered a world of dreams! This is simply the most devine smelling store offering exclusive one of a kind fragrances. I was assisted by the charming, friendly, extremely knowledgeable Anthony. We discussed various rose based fragrances. Une Rose is my go to staple perfume. But I'm not stopping there. I love Carnal Flower, Portrait of a Lady, and synthetic jungle. The body butters are fabulous as well as the hand creams.I am going to buy all of my perfume here in this gorgeous store. Be sure to stop in for a fragrance tutorial from Anthony. Poor representation of their company by the rude sales rep. Was going to stop in to buy a few gifts after purchasing shoes next door, but decided not to after the sales rep banged on my car window insisting that I move my car and threatening to call a tow truck. She kept harassing me which was tacky and distasteful. She didn't bother once to consider that I might have been thinking of walking in -- only assumed that I was taking space. He explained all the secrets of the perfume world, sprayed us with perfumes that were perfect for our preferences, and let us try the hair perfume to compliment the perfume we sprayed on our arms. Super wonderful store of the finest perfumes. We've been big fans of Frederic Malle perfume since visiting their store in Paris. They are truly the best scent maker in the world in my opinion, there's nothing finer. This new store on Melrose that opened in 2017 was fabulous! It's beautiful interior design, well displayed scents and incredible collection of products is almost overwhelming. The women that greeted us and took us for a tour of the store was lovely and very knowledgeable about all of their scents. Everyone we've met from a Frederic Malle store has been well educated about every scent, offered vivid descriptions of each note, and are capable of directing you to the perfect scent that complements your taste. So my review comes a bit late, but I have to speak on the wonderful service that was provided to me by Leyvin Castillo. I had purchased on the Frederic Malle website the discovery set and much to my dismay I was sent an email stating that they had run out of stock and I was very disappointed. I had called customer service who offered me no support and non answers. I called the store straightaway and spoke to the lovely Leyvin Castillo who not only told me they sold the discovery set but I could mix and match the fragrances I most wanted. She helped me every step of the way on the phone with descriptions of the types of scents I was most drawn to. Truly could not thank her enough! When I went to go pick up my purchase, although she wasn't there she had packaged my purchase neatly with samples of perfumes she highly recommended from the Frederic Malle line. Thank you so much Leyvin!
