Perfume shopping and sampling has changed for the worse since COVID, so we would purchase hauls of samples online only to like very little out of so many. We went here to check out a few new ones and discovered a discontinued scent I was able to purchase a full bottle of. As always, I buy the samples first before making the commitment and we purchased a couple we liked. The owner and Maurice were so nice. I had some great conversations with them and I wish the other stores we went to were as friendly in LA. I would definitely come back in the future. Great customer service, knowledgeable staff and stellar selection! I was introduced to a scent I fell in love with and walked out happy!

Depending on who is there the staff come off as either confused or aloof and vaguely irritated that you're even there when you walk in. Instead of being welcoming or helpful, it feels like you're inconveniencing them by wanting to shop. What's especially uncomfortable is how closely they watch you while you're in the store, like you're about to pocket a candle. I know the store is small but either shop with me or go do something else till I have a question. I've even spoken with the manager, and unfortunately the tone starts at the top. Which is a shame, because the whole point of going to a Diptyque boutique is the experience and service. If that's missing, there's really no reason not to just buy elsewhere (department stores, online, or frankly the gray market). I get that this is Beverly Hills and a tourist-heavy area which isn't the easiest to work but so are many other Diptyque stores, and this is the only one where the service feels this cold and suspicious. Diptyque seems to have lost perspective that people come to the boutique for the service they won't get elsewhere.

I sniffed dozens of Henry Jacques' scents, including their incredible crystal spinning tops that are otherworldly in their profiles. Scents I particularly enjoyed - Cascador, La Nuit, No. 11 De Sacha, among others - still linger in my mind, along with two words: "one day." The products at Henry Jacques are certainly an investment. It takes a confident person to wear their stuff - and that's certainly something I aspire to.

While HJ only offers 30 something scents to the public, there are many more exclusives. It's quite the rabbit hole. These are absolutely no expense spared creations not for the initiated. If you have never smelled pure damask rose, you probably won't realize the extraordinary cost that goes into these bottles. Pure rose oil crystalizes, and as such, many of the HJ oils crystalize because they're putting 100's of dollars of pure rose in them. HJ uses real oud in their oud perfumes. These aren't your designer perfumes or 'niche' houses where 3-5 dollars of ingredients go into your 300 dollar bottle. Very few brands can field this quality level of raw materials. The service is spectacular and not at all pretentious. It's very relaxing and therapeutic to spend time in the boutique. The prices are high, yes. But as someone who has smelled 1000s upon 1000s of fragrances, you won't find this level of quality elsewhere. These are 3 dimensional scents.

But the matcha Heavenly was a really good clean cup of matcha. Ambiance was a solid 5/5. Lots of places to sit. Open airy room to sample the scents. Outdoor seating that opened with city views. This place transports you out of KTown, and not to Europe, but to a remote part of an upscale town. My wife and I both agreed we'd definitely come back to KTown for ELOREA. The setup is familiar where the store extends to the back starting with body/hair/candles and while the fragrances are situated throughout, they have a cool area focusing on their unique scents near the register in the center of the shop, concluding with facial care in the back. Sinks are present for the first and third room. Plenty of associates are on-hand to assist which is typical of the Aesop brand. Speaking of the different fragrances, there are distinct personalities with all of them and I even found a couple of new ones I liked. Although I left with a small cleanser, their sampling is still generous. They don't really do hair samples anymore (and they have changed/discontinued some formulations over the years) but there seem to be plenty of skincare selections available. There is a 2-hour (prior to 6p) parking garage on the same side of the street very close to this Aesop.
