Perfect stop on your way out of Door County to stock up on all the local goodies: Fresh produce, cheese, jam, pickles, salsa, maple syrup, apple butter, baking mixes, various snacks. But not slick and touristy like in some of the towns, just quality stuff at reasonable prices. Get anything made with cherries and you can't go wrong. I haven't worked through every item that I bought but it's all been delicious. The cherry pie was phenomenal and didn't last 24 hours after arriving home. read more

Missed a visit in 2021 (you can guess the reason), but we're back and glad to be able to stop in during our trip to pickup a small pie from what they had to enjoy during our visit. We also went ahead to place an order for two pies to pickup on way home (the large one for ourselves, and one to gift). :) Cider pops for kids now are ice pops. I think prices now are $6.75 for a small, about $12 for medium, and $16.25 for large. Still low compared to the big orchard competitors. read more

Small town store. We wanted to do some cherry picking and this was such a nice experience. Went inside the store after picking all the cherries got her some more goodies. Great store and selection of all things cherry! They also sell local produce and alcohol. Great selection of cherry wine and local, seasonal beer. You can pick your own tart cherries for $9 a pail, compared to already picked tart cherries selling for $12 in the store. We got a pail of sweet cherries for $20! They are very sweet and pop in your mouth when you eat them. A pail was especially a large grocery bag filled with cherries! They don't let you pick your own sweet cherries because the trees are taller and for liability reasons. Great owners and friendly service. They also accept credit cards. read more

Make sure you go to both sides of the road! One side is tart cherries, and the other is sweet. We recommend picking your own - it is probably faster than waiting in line for the already picked cherries, and is cheaper. The shop also had a ton of other items. $12/pail for tart cherries and $20/pail for sweet. read more

We have been going to Schartner's for over 20 years their pies are by far the best in all of Door County, and we have tried our share. The Strawbery Rhubarb might one of the best if not the best pie we have ever had period. Her crust is light flakey and flavorful not too thick not to thin just perfect. The Cherry pies are also outstanding and loaded with plump cherries. We stumbled across Schartner's when pies were being cooked out of one old oven, now a much bigger operation nothing at all has changed still fantastic. When it comes to food consistency, quality, and taste is the benchmark. Raise the prices if need be but never change the recipe..and they haven't. They are the best, any trip to Door County wouldn't be the same without a pie or three from Schartner's. Enjoy!! read more

If they don't have the flavor you want in the display case, just ask one of the family members behind the counter to order you one for pick-up the following day. Rhubarb and cherry pies steal the show, but apple is always good, too. We had already visited a number of markets and purchased a huge variety of pickles, salsas, jams, and cherry products, but we wanted some fresh cherries and stopped at Schartner's on our way home. What a find! We were sorry that we hadn't started our shopping at Schartner's first; we would have saved money and been pleased with the variety of products. After sampling, we added jars of salsa and pie filling to the cart, along with just picked cherries, strawberries, and pies still warm from the oven. They offer pies in three sizes, a nice option. We noted lower prices on dried cherries and other products and decided that on our next trip to Door County we will make Schartner's our first and last stop.
