Yeah, this is where all my acting up and mis-behaving in school started. Mr. Whitman was my 1st grade teacher- he took the time to teach us all how to play chess! He was totally "searching for Bobby Fischer!" We had great big vinyl chess boards, big pieces, and he'd get on the overhead projector and have this little chess board transparency, and he'd show us the moves. At the end of 1st grade we were playing legitimate chess games, even if we were too young to understand any real chess strategy. Mr. Clair used to tell us great stories in 2nd grade- everybody loved that guy! Too bad the school was so stuffed we got stuck taking classes in "the mobiles." Mobile homes- haha. Mr. Lucier was a nice principal- he played ukulele at school events all the time! I was sent to his office lots of times for getting in trouble, and he always pointed out the nice picture he had on his wall that my well behaved older sister had painted when she went to Dirksen. Miss Schumacher was HOT! They had a "gifted" program where some of us selected few would be picked up by the 'tard cart and taken to a separate school- all the dist. 54 grade schools fed the program. I hated getting teased for being picked up by the stubby bus for that, and the actual gifted program was no fun. The teachers there tried so hard to engage us it felt demeaning somehow... I knock one star off for Mrs. Nank. That fat old battle-ax would beg cookies out of the lunches of her 4th graders! Worse- she's beg back and shoulder massages from us! I was so completely disgusted by her behavior... Words can't describe.

What I'm really hoping is someone from my era will remember me & want to reconnect - like Mark S, sounds like we'd have been at the same time. Oh God- the worst years of any kid's life- Jr High!…read more It's hard to give any Jr. High a good review, since it's such a terrible time for most kids. I tried to put much of those years out of my memory, but there are a couple things about Frost that really did stand out for me I'll recount: My teachers were decent enough- Mr. Catalano was my science teacher- he really rooted for me when I aced my HS entrance exams and got into the accelerated track. On the flip-side was Ms. Costansa, my English teacher, she actually fought to keep me out of the accelerated HS English track because of my misbehavior. Somehow she couldn't see that my misbehavior was largely due to boredom from being unchallenged by her criculum- duh? Oh well, at least in HS English I got to hang out with normal kids instead of the AP geeks. Gym class. OMG, Mr. Steger was notorious- every boy in the 5-6th grade feared entering Jr. High because of this guy's reputation for embarrassing and harassing the boys in the locker room. I never had to jump naked for my towel myself, but the dude was huge and scary and he got pretty mean when other kids acted up. Not a really good deal if you ask me. I'm sure he's long gone now, but that's how it was in the 80s. French class. I had the best French teacher ever- she was this totally cool, cosmopolitan, artsy lady. She really cared about us learning the language and the culture, and took us all to the Creperie in Chicago. Mlle Doyle was the best. Math- both my Pre Algebra and Algebra teachers were really good. The kids in these classes were ahead of the other kids in Math and we were taught that way- nice to have reasonably tough expectations placed on our progress. So Frost was just OK, there were some really nice teachers, some were pricks, some good experiences, and some pretty bad. I booked lots of geeky kids in the hallway and got away with it. I suppose that experience typified my whole experience here: not really good, but not really bad either- 3 stars.

The teachers are helpful and make sure the students understand the topic at hand. They have a wide variety of different club activities and sports. We've been part of the St. Peter's family for four years, since my son started kindergarten here…read more That's exactly what it is, family!! A family feel with an education, staff and teachers that are top notch! Our son has been thriving here since day one. We contemplated homeschooling during covid, until we found St. Peter's! It was honestly the next best thing. It was very important to us, for our son to get the proper education and keep his Faith intact!! That is exactly what we continue to get here, year after year! We knew academically St. Peter's was amazing, but we never imagined the support and prayers that come your families way, in time of need!! We have gotten through some tough times (including an unfortunate accident recently), with all of St. Peter's loving staff by our side. I couldn't imagine our son getting the love and support, that he needed to get through it, in any other school during that time. We are beyond blessed to have found St. Peter's Lutheran School in Schaumburg

She's tenured and they cannot fire her. She repeatedly yells at my daughter and berates her. Today she saw my daughter showing another student a drawing, she snatched it out of her hand, crumpled it up and left her in tears until the end of the day. She intentionally humiliated her and left her in tears over showing her friend a drawing. I wish I could say this is all that happened but I've had other parents coming up to me questioning me why their own kids are telling them how mean she is to my daughter. DO NOT send your kid to fourth grade here. Mrs. Allor is her name and she should not be teaching children. My name is Jason Pierce. I love the rest of the staff here, from pre through 8th they have great teachers. I personally do not understand why this woman is working with children.

If you're looking for a church that offers a sincere family type experience, I encourage you to become a part of this wonderful parish, even if you have to drive an hour or so to get there! Nothing was holy -- from the art, the music, the liturgy. It was like a Mega Church giving shallow entertainment, hoping the sappiness stirs the congregation. Nothing Catholic about it. It was a bad imitation of a protestant service. I was horrified from beginning to end. For those who gave a good review, I urge you to find a good Catechism class. Not at this institution, though. Some may attribute dissatisfaction to the fact that this church has "liberal" views. I saw nothing liberal or conservative. I heard nothing liberal or conservative. I would be labeled "progressive" for my political views. Please don't insult liberals by calling what happens at this place such. I'm still in a state of disbelief.
