Our friends are supper club fans and are working through all of the nearby supper clubs. We have been tagging along on this adventure. They made a reservation on a Wednesday night which is when they have their broasted chicken and dumplings special which draws a crowd. We hung out at the bar with the locals beforehand and had a very strong old fashioned. The waitress eventually came to the bar and took our orders - we opted for the chicken special though you could also order from the regular menu which features many supper club standards.. When the food was ready they ushered us to the table. The broasted chicken was very good even the white meat was moist. The legs and thighs were excellent. I went with the potato salad but the others got the dumplings and raved about them. The coleslaw was very different - it was sweet and creamy vs. the typical vinegar base. We ended with an ice cream drink the Butterfinger Blast which was more like an ice cream sundae. It was excellent. It was worth the drive. read more

Looking forward to this place for fish fry. Nicely decorated and staff were really nice and on top of things. We got seated and it was by a door that wasn't used and had random stuff locked away inside ( need to either clean it up or take table away). Food looked good but fish didn't taste . perch had no taste what so ever. The rye bread was the only thing that had taste. The old fashion I had was good.. but nothing to go back for. We literally looked forward to this supper club for months and were so saddened. Made a reservation, told when arrived more than 30 min behind (no big deal if told politely), food practically "thrown" once served, sub-standard at best, almost afraid to ask for ice cream dessert for our grandkids who had been so patient and well behaved...not our fault that it was 20 min before closing as we had made reservations with plenty of time (see earlier problem). Our 10 year old said (she's been to many supper clubs prior) "it's really chaotic and loud here" and she was right. We want to have them and experience, learn and enjoy but this was just a disaster from 10 yrs old to 65 year old at our table. Truly we wanted to like and review differently. read more

This is by far one of the best supper clubs I've eaten at in quite some time! The ambiance alone being in an older house was a fantastic delight but the owner speaking to me by my first name was more than I could have asked for, felt more like I was her guest than her customer. As for the food and Brandy old fashioned - spot on! Ribeye was cooked to perfection and the filet my wife had, let's just say I was snacking on it when we got home - flavor was amazing. We normally don't finish with dessert because we are too full when we go eat BUT.....they had adult ice cream. So we shared a Kailua Crunch which I must say hit the spot. We will be returning, we will be making reservations as this was a great choice since they were busy on a Friday, and although I'm not sure about my wife, I'll be trying their Prime Rib! Solid supper club. Very good food. Seemingly in the middle of nowhere with a view of the lake. Others comments about bartenders are true. Not friendly. However, they do not ignore you. We all hate our jobs, but ya gotta fake it sometimes, man! Especially in the service industry. Tips typically reflect attitude. We walked in around 7 in a Saturday. Place had around 30 people. We were greeted nicely and asked to visit the bar as we were handed menus. We sat down and ordered drinks. The old fashion sweet was fantastic and strong. 5 min went by as our waitress greeted us and took our order. Very friendly and knowledgeable. As we sat and talked for another 5 min we were sat at our table, soups waiting. We both had the prime rib. I had the king and she the queen. Now i understand prime rib, my kind was cooked to perfection-rare medium rare. The Queen was medium rare, also perfect. I wish the queen wasn't literally half fat tissue, but tasted amazing. Literally though, it was half fat. Could've cut half the steak away and made candles. The soups were also fantastic, French onion and stuffed pepper. This Supper Club is in the boon docks so don't expect cell service inside. I only have 3 check ins here but have been here 8/9 times. Because of the cell service I usually am too far away to check in and then get frustrate even trying. I have 3 checkins and 8/9 visits and this being my first posted review. Everyone should experience Schaumburg Inn. It has an interesting history and supposedly ghosts. The cocktails are strong like a good supper club offers. I had to try one of their famous Manhattans and it did not disappoint on taste or strength. For someone who only has a couple of drinks a year one was enough for the night. My first time there I had their mouth watering tenderloin steak. The rest of the times I had their special on Wed. Which is broasted chicken and melt in your mouth dumplings and gravy and the fish fry. Both are served with coleslaw and bread. Both are delicious. They have a large menu with daily specials. A specials board is located by the hostess station. Service has always been courteous. They don't take reservations and there can be a wait. There is a large bar with tables lining the wall to accommodate you while you wait for a table. Prices are reasonable and in the summer they have outside seating with music. The Schaumburg Inn sits on Lake Emily. read more

From Shirley Temples as a little girl to fruity smoothies infused with alcohol as a twenty-something, this place has been a part of my heart (and my summers) for years. The drive up to the restaurant is gorgeous, with tall trees leading the way to an old mansion with a beautiful lake behind it. The interior is cozy with history, the food has always satisfied (the Walleye is wonderful), and the staff has always been pleasant. My father's always been the one who had paid for our meals here, so I can't speak for how much things cost. But I bet you it's pricey. And you know what? It is damn well worth it for a fancy night out in the middle of Wisconsin. read more

No, no, no. This place is absolutely tragic. As a non-fish eater, I recommend that you up the rest of your menu. If you are going to do fish well and the rest of your food terrible, please just get rid of your menu. I had pasta. Yes, poor decision on my part. Who gets pasta? Then again, who puts food on a menu that is terrible? My pasta was overcooked, watery and a mound of mush. The must not have bothered to drain the water because you could see water on it. Disgusting. My family has been coming to Fox Lake for vacations since we were little kids, and Schaumburg Supper Club is a must every time. The fish fry and prime rib are their signature dishes and with good reason. Best in the area! They also now have a "light" section on their menu with smaller portions of meat for those who are watching their weight or have smaller appetites, which is a nice touch. The building itself is a historic renovated mansion (which was supposedly a former brothel) in a beautiful natural setting of trees. They do have some funny quirks here, such as a cash (or checks) -only policy, and they only do mashed potatoes on Sundays. But we're willing to let them have their quirks for that prime rib! read more

My family has been eating here since I was little. My parents actually had their rehearsal dinner here! Schaumburgs is a staple in my family for Sunday dinners. We enjoy the friendly faces we see whenever we are there. I would highly recommend the baked french onion soup. We have it every time we are there! Other family favorites include the broiled chicken, baked fish, and the ham. For Holidays they also make specials that are delicious. I am a fan of their St. Patties day, Easter, and Mothers Day meals. In the summer they have outdoor entertainment that is also a blast with drink and meal specials. I would highly recommend this place to anyone in town. Besides its a historic place located on the shores of Lake Emily, with beautiful mature trees. Its a lovely place. read more

Originally tried to get reservations for their Thanksgiving buffet but they were already filled up so we decided to try dinner on a Saturday night. The place is out in the sticks and not that easy to find if you are not a local, use a GPS to get there. Had a reservation for 6:30 and arrived right on time, was seated immediately. Waitress arrived soon after, took our drink and dinner order, quickly delivered fresh rolls and our salads to go with the crackers and veggies already on table. Our meals quickly followed, Linda had broasted chicken and ribs, my choice was chicken parmiagana. Well the food was delicious, the meat literally fell off the bones and she never touched the chicken (leftovers for lunch). My chicken parm was delicious and I too have leftovers for today. Overall a great experience and I've already marked our 2020 calendar for late October to get our Thanksgiving reservation in. read more

Service was slow at times but acceptable. For instance, had to ask for refill on water. Relish tray was smaller than I remember from other years. In addition, it only had 4 pickles for 5 ppl. Seems like an odd way to cut down. Tray was attractive and it's cheese spread good. I had cup of French onion soup instead of salad. Others said salad & dressings very good. Soup came with saltine crackers. I didn't care for that combo. Missed croutons although waitress told me it didn't come with cheese or croutons. Soup itself was delicious. Queen size prime rib was perfect and good sized/value. Baked potato stayed hot through out the meal. Even tho I took some meat home I ordered their Schaumtorte dessert. Omg it was good! Been coming here since we were kids - this was always our 2nd favorite place up here many years ago when there was another supper club named Edna's that was next to Radel's bait shop back in the 60's and 70's. Schaumburg's survived the test of time and still has excellent Perch, Seafood Specials, Broasted Chicken and Prime Rib. Great Lake views, Classic Bar and very strong cheap drinks. I went to this place last night, and had the roasted duck and my date had the loaded tenderloin, both were one of their specials for the evening, we made reservations for 8pm but showed up half hour early for some drinks in the bar, to our surprise we were seated without any hesitation, lovely atmosphere, the duck was delicious. had a taste of the loaded tenderloin and it was good too... my only gripe is that our waitress didnt come around as often as i would have like but that's it. i am definitely will be returning to dine again. read more

This supper club has been a part of my life since I was a baby. My parents have a lake house in Fox Lake and eating at Schaumburgs was just part of our Saturday night tradition. The fish fry is very good, but the prime rib is the best I have ever had. I have taken various friends and family members here and they all agree that it is hands down the BEST prime rib they've ever tasted. The seasoning around it is to die for, and the cook and tenderness is perfect. Dave-the owner and bartender is great (have him whip you up a whiskey old fashioned sweet with mushrooms). The staff has always been very attentive and friendly. While I'll admit, the decor inside may be a little dated, it is all part of the experience and history. It is clean and cozy, and the view of Lake Emily is very pretty, especially around sunset. The menu is relatively small, but they always have approx. 10 specials (at least on the weekends). Definitely worth a try, but the prime rib is a MUST!! read more

The Schaumburg is a great find for those who are in the Green Lake Terrace area. I've been wanting to check it out for years, and we finally went on Saturday night. Gotta say, the impressive lawn with the trees as you drive up to the mansion was so gorgeous! The place is located right on Lake Emily and has a beautiful view from the bar. It could use a facelift on the inside, but as per everything in that area it was clean and tidy. We were seated at a cozy table for six and were pleasantly suprpised to have one of the best servers ever! This girl was great - anticipated every need, was there when you needed her, pleasant but not too chatty. We were very impressed! The appetizers were yummy - we got a house platter to share and it involved a lot of deep fried vegetable and cheese. The salads were standard, no biggie there, and we passed the time discussing the history of the place provided in a fun pamphlet - it has quite a story - from a wayside house for travelers to pirate gold! Murder and intrigue - I would love to hear about the ghostly goings-on! Anyway, dinner arrived and it was DELICIOUS! I ordered the 12 oz prime rib and it was done to medium perfection. The baked potato was petite and hot, and served with chive sour cream. Yum! Everyone else had filet of some kind - one of my dinner companions ordered the walleye and proclaimed it delightful! After dinner, I had to try the Schaumtorte and I must say - it was interesting! I can't say I would get it again, but I'm glad I tried it. The meringue was very crispy and the strawberry sauce was very sweet. It was a completely new texture to me! The cheese cake is what I'll get the next time I go - I tried a bite of my friend's and it was awesome! Clearly homemade and creamy...ooooh! The Schaumburg is cemented on my rotation of dinner spots...well priced (the prime was $16.99!) and cool atmosphere. Where do I begin... Building needs a paint job, weeds need to be pulled and maybe some flower baskets added to the front would be a start. Nothing like walking up the stairs into a dingy musty bar being greeted (not so much...) by two old men that need to move on with their lives. Making my drink by digging in the ice box with their hands to fill up my glass. Um eew. Moving on to the table being yelled at across the restaurant to sit at table 16! Sit down to order their "Special" Chicken and Dumplings... Over cooked and dry, hard to swallow. Waitress was nice. Nothing about this experience was a good one. I agree w/ everything in the 1st review on this rest. This place is a GEM!! Tons of small town character, mostly friendly staff (the old grumpy bartender could use a happy pill or a zanex). Along w/ the fish fry being delicious, you must try the wednesday night all you can eat Broasted Chicken n Dumplings. This is a favorite for people from miles around!!
