Holy wow this store. You can probably see it from space, I could sure see it from a mile away and thought, is that where I'm going?! I was visiting MT and could not find very many souvenirs, and the gentleman at Albertsons was like, well how about Scheels? This place is all the sports stores (and some) in one. It's huge with multiple stories, along with a rideable Farris wheel in the middle, and a sweet fish tank when you enter. This is definitely the place to go when need any kind of sport related items, or even just known-brand clothes to wear! Value wasn't too bad, compared with other prices in town. I had many associates greet me, and all around a nice visit. I found some souvenirs that were better than expected. Highly recommend. read more

Not Worth the Hassle I've gone out of my way to support Scheels over the years because I value their product knowledge and customer service. But lately, the effort required just to get a price match--something they claim to offer--has made it more trouble than it's worth. Most recently, I tried to add a gift card to a price-matched order. In the past, they've handled this over the phone with no issue. This time, they refused. Since I don't live nearby, I had arranged for a family member to pick up the item, but their solution was for me to order it, return it, then re-order it using the gift card. That's a completely unnecessary runaround. In the end, I just ordered from the competitor. Scheels may still offer great products, but if they can't streamline their own policies or honor the level of service they've provided in the past, it's hard to justify going out of my way for them anymore. I have had great experiences with Scheels. JASON IN ARCHERY IS SIMPLY AMAZING. He is knowledgeable and just a great help. But my poor experiences ate always with any type of price matching. Instead of saying yeah we can do that price match they give you the run around. It's just frustrating and I've found it's not worth the hassle. Schedules is over-priced but they have great stuff. The secret is their close-out and clearance sales. Almost identical if you shop those regularly, you can find some pretty good deals. To pay retail working somewhere else for a cheaper price. The reason I gave him a three and instead of four is whatever diffuser they have going upstairs. It smells horrible. The whole upstairs on the west side is permeated by that smell and it's nauseating. Everybody was complaining about it. I don't like smelly stuff when it's overbearing. read more

I'll start off by saying that this store has the widest selection of outdoor gear that you will ever find in one store in person. It's like shopping online. They had some sales on North Face and Kuhl when I came into the store. I'm sure there were many other sales happening. The employees greeted you, but not excessively (there is such thing as too much).We spent a lot of time in this store, just taking it all in. I ended up returning the most expensive item I bought. This process was extremely easy and there was no hassle about it. The lady at the counter was very friendly and efficient at her job. This place is just full of smiling faces. On a cross country trip walked into this place, which was given to me by the Chamber of Commerce of Montana. I've never been in a shield. It's like a Dick's Sporting Goods in New York. It had a Ferris wheel in the middle of it. Went up to the sporting good section was walking around stopped the young lady and she called somebody who could direct me to my fishing questions. I went in to buy a mask, wearing a mask as my wife had forgotten hers. We are choosing to wear masks though we are fully vaccinated to protect the health of our grandchildren. At the checkout where I asked where to find the masks ( I had purchased them there before ) I was treated rudely and dismissed by woman employee who wanted to lecture me about how I didn't need a mask. She told me the masks had been removed because " you don't need them). Another employee. I'm assuming a manager, came over and asked if he could help. I explained what I was looking for ND he said they had " run out" and also lectured about masks not being needed. I get medical advice from my doctor, I didn't ask for it, and didn't need a lecture about it from Scheels. Our favorite store Compared it to the other side of town and Walk into cabelas and everyone is trying to not meet your eye, everyone ignores you, no one ever can answer a question. All the shelves are stocked with cheap Chinese one day wonder junk for ridiculously high prices And then you walk into scheels where everyone, every single employee, greets you, makes sure eye contact and answers every question andif they can't answer they call someone over who can! Never do we wander around wondering where something is or how something works, which size is the size we need? Scheels owner/ employees are Right There with knowledge and professional service every single time EVERY SINGLE TIME. I love this store And!! I can bring my dog in with me!!!! Can you believe no cabelas stores allow dogs in?! Even when I needed the dog there to try hunting gear on her, cabelas told me to buy it and go try it on her and return it if it didn't fit. Then try another size and repeat.... Scheels brought over 2 people that knew all about the gear and helped us get it on our hunting hound and adjust the fit until it was right This is what service used to be like in America!! It has snack stands inside for big and little kids A ferris wheel inside! And ice cream cones. Plus!! A bowling alley, an Archery range and a shooting gallery You could pull in here alone or with the entire family and from the Giant Saltwater aquariums to the giant sky lights and animal mounts on the mountain you could readily spend the entire day in this store and never see everything. I needed bootlaces,sunglasses,a sewing kit, targets of big game animals for the bow, a rifle a pistol for each of us and a toy for the pup and a bandana for her too, plus a vacuum sealer and bags, some ammo, gun powder, a couple free weights, more targets, terminal fishing tackle, and a tent and two chairs. Got it all. No problem. The pistols they had to ship to us in our home state and they guaranteed they'd be there in 2 days, which is the best you can do with these communist attacks on the Constitution going on. I personally don't care for the consistently poor service I've come to expect in sports/sporting goods stores. No one seems to get that I'm the reason they have a job, so make it fun for me and I I'll be happy to shop their venue. Pretty simple concept to provide service. My goal tonight was to find a good fitting pair of insulated boots for a trip into Yellowstone Park next week. Chris is a salesperson in the boots area; when I saw him, He immediately spoke to me, said his shift was ending, however he would introduce me to Jacob and get me assistance. Jacob found exactly what I needed with the first pair he gave me to try on. I was so tickled, I bought another pair of shoes and a pair of slippers. Jacob is a great caretaker! He grabbed a cart over for me to carry all the footwear brought Ardell over to assist me in finding some base layers and gloves. Ardell was just as kind and engaging as Jacob. When finished, she guided me to the cashier, introduced me to Hayden and made me feel special. As Hayden rang me out, he told me about his sock collection, admiring the two pairs I'd just bought. On my way out, I met Dylan, the general manager. Another great experience; his personality and kindness explained why the sales team here is so invested and supportive. They emulate Dylan. This place is quite the spectacle, definitely worth a stop if you're in the area. Stop because you genuinely love seeing all the stuffed game OR you just want to gawk at the absurdity of a sporting goods store/carnival. The store has two levels, an aquarium (large enough you can walk beneath it), a ferris wheel, all of the wildlife (stuffed), animatronic American presidents, arcade, a home goods section, exercise equipment, and a mini food court just to name a few of the attractions. LOVE this place! It's like a mall but with necessary items. There's two lanes of Duck Pin Bowling, there are weights, home décor, fishing and hunting necessities, thermals, games, & clothing/shoes. AND PURA VIDA. Walked out with $1,000 of clothes, they have good variety. All name brand clothing. Love the North Face! I did leave out the most fabulous part, there are the fishes! I did not find what I needed,was greeted when I came in.I proceeded to go upstairs to look for an item.the sales assistant helped for as little as ten minutes,Stating thst the item I was seeking was not available or sold out.I walked around and came back to the exact same aisle within a few feet and found what I wa after.No thanks to scheels.I then walked over to the bow section and checked them out,was never greeted or helped.Then I tried on some boots;imagine this I was not helped in that department either.Downstairs I went to purchase my items,I spoke with a cashier she apologized and offered me a sweater and a water bottle as some sort of apologetic gesture.I said I appreciate but no thank you.I did not receive or want the consolation items I quietly exited the building and satisfied I expressed m American opinion to the help. read more

I can't remember the gentleman's name who was a big help with helping me pick out a water purification system but I appreciated his knowledge, he was a big help. The coolest, biggest, most awesome sporting goods store ever. Is that superlative enough? For reference: there's a ferris wheel in the middle of this place. Not some dinky one, either. A full-blown gigantic ferris wheel imported from somewhere in Chicago and rebuilt here. This is one of the most unusual things I've seen. Way cool. Even cooler than the huge tropical fish tank that adorns the cashier area of the store. Yes, a huge fish tank with huge fish. Just go here for the sights! But you come here to buy sporting goods- not ride ferris wheels and look at fish. So the place has the biggest selection I have ever seen for just about every sport under the sun. Hunting, fishing, kayaking, cycling, football, baseball, basketball.... literally everything. And it's all good quality! One thing that got me is how EVERY SINGLE EMPLOYEE could not have been more polite or helpful. Literally every person I saw asked if they could help or if I had questions. I live in Chicago and this type of service has disappeared. Too bad, because we ended up spending about $300 in store. Just an amazing experience. The customer service is like the Chick-Fil-A experience in a retail sporting goods store. You're greeted upon entry. And there is staff everywhere offering assistance, but not pushy or annoying. I've been on the main level, been helped in one area, mentioned I needed something from another department, which happened to be upstairs, and the person helping me radioed to another employee who met me at the top of the escalators. What?! And then another trip, an employee overheard me discussing a top I was considering. She brought over a similar, less expensive, and better option to show me! What!?! Their service is alone is enough to keep me coming back. But then, there's the selection! Every time we go looking for something: soccer ball, shin guards, running tights, whatever it is...we find an incredible selection. Most places will have one or two of something, and they have an entire wall of soccer balls! And carry a carefully curated selection of shoes, clothes, etc in multiple brands and price points. Their prices might be a touch higher than other stores or online but the service and supporting an employee-owned company is totally worth it. Definitely our go-to for entertainment (ferris wheel, games), outdoor sporting needs, and sometimes even a snack (fresh candy nuts and a little cafe in there). read more

This, is merely to shine light on the customer service at this location and the above and beyond care you will receive by shopping here. Every time I shopped at this Scheels, I have been floored with how we were treated. From the attendant at the ferris wheel, to the lady behind the register in the sandwich shop, or when we are just checking out, we have been treated so well and by the friendliest people. Recently, I had a question and needed assistance about an item that I had purchased while in town, but was out of state at this point. Levi Wicks took the time out of his day to hear my needs, address my concerns and have an earnest desire to help me in my situation. 5 words if you want us to shop here again. TURN DOWN THE AIR CONDITIONER. One of your employees said its so cold in the summer because Scheels makes them wear heavy long sleeve cotton shirts. That has nothing to do with the life blood of retail. The customer matters most and if you can't get them new, "cooler" shirts, so what. I won't shop here again until the a/c is turned down.
