An amalgamation of Dick's Sporting Goods, Bass Pro, and Great Wolf Lodge given birth to a love-child named Scheels. It's totally one part corporate, crisp, functional retail goods store, and another part taxidermy animals, rides, fudge, and hunting & fishing gear like you'd find at Bass Pro. We took our kids here on a winter break, gray day and it was a lot of fun. First off, there's a mini aquarium when you walk in -- it's nothing to write home about, but it gets the kids attention and they realize right away this is a fun store. From there, you can't miss the gigantic ferris wheel in the middle of the store. Gonna be real, it's fun and worth the wait but also a bit nerve wracking. Something is just odd about quietly swaying at the top of a department store quietly for such a long time. My daughter was like, "Dad, I'm scared to look down!" and all I could think was, "so am I, kid, so am I." We both agreed it's pretty fun once it gets going. There's also a little bowling area where you get five frames for a buck, and ditto to a little arcade game area as well. There's toy stores, outdoor goods, quality brands of clothes and outfitting, and really a nice answer to online shopping. In fact, it feels like malls used to feel in the 90's but a modern spin on everything. We did eat here but I'd say skip it. I didn't find anything I wanted and when I went to finish off my kids chicken tenders I was super underwhelmed and ended up pitching them. I will say at this time they carry Sylas & Maddy's ice cream (best IC in the city IMO) so that was a nice surprise treat. What more could you want if out shopping with the kids?! It's a great spot to kill a quiet afternoon.

Scheels is somewhere where you can find practically anything you need. From switch blades from self defense, to accessories for 40 ounce Stanley's to help protect the bottom, they have it all! The quality is always top tier. Highly recommend shopping at Scheels.

Drove by this place more often than I can remember, and I was always curious what this place is. Needed new tennis shoes, and someone from REI recommended checking this place out. This place is huge!!! It has a Ferris Wheel in the middle of their 2 level store. It literally has everything you need from shoes to apparels to home decors. They didn't have the shoes I wanted in my size, but I am definitely coming back in the future. Did I mention they also have a food court?

So I wanted some water shoes and Bass Pro in Independence said they had some on their website. No, they didn't. Called several other stores like Shoe Carnival, Dicks Sporting Goods and Duluth. Many close to home but none had what I needed. Called Scheels and yes I had to drive out of my way but they had a huge selection! Thank you for carrying summer items during all the seasons. The store was packed but the employees were doing as best they could to keep up as the parking lot was full. You had your wait for one to leave to get one. Prices looked decent on things I was checking out. Next time I need something for outdoor activities, I'll go here first just to save time and agony. Thanks Scheels.

Honestly, I've always heard so much about this place, but have never stepped foot inside. Finally did and I was in awe! Scheel's was able to keep my high energy 2 year old happy and entertained for several hours. They have a free toddler play place, a Cafe with juice and cookies, fishies, and even a 2 lane bowling alley. All of the employees were friendly, even when we dropped many many cookie crumbs on their floor. We plan on spending many of the Winter months at Scheels!

The restaurant inside is actually pretty good. The chicken tortilla soup is quite good and so is the gelato.

However, I had used them in the past for my baseball team and had a pretty good experience so I decided to go forward using them since so many others were using Nill Bro's b/c they were listed as the official provider for Blue Valley Rec teams. Jill, the owner, was a pleasure to work with and I found her to be VERY responsive. She often communicated with me via text which was extremely convenient and speedy. Her graphic artist took my ideas and did a very nice job coming up with three good options for a logo and lettering. I am a very detail-oriented person (a perfectionist of sorts) and their artist showed no frustration with me as I tweaked her ideas several times with my own. The only snafu was that our pants didn't arrive in time for our first game. However, it wasn't really a big deal...we had our socks, belts, jerseys and visors so we all matched just fine. In the end, everyone involved with the team is very pleased with the end result and we had our pants for our second game. She even stitched each player's number on the back of each visor which we did NOT discuss but parents have lauded about. She and her staff also organized the pick-up exceptionally well with all jerseys hung up and personalized bags around the neck of each hanger holding the belts, socks, and visors. As a coach getting ready too deliver them to each player, that was so helpful and I appreciated it very much! I would highly recommend you give Jill at Sportswear Etc a chance to earn your business. The best recommendation I can make is to go there immediately after determining your team name and roster so that she, her suppliers, her graphic artists, and her stitchers are not forced to produce a product in a short amount of time when everyone else is also requesting theirs be completed. If you do this, I believe you will be happy with the process just as I was. Brook Menees
