I must say buying a first time home can be stressful enough and heard of people buying lemon homes. I felt I could rely on a third party inspector with no relations to the home seller and Realtor. I found Scheidt Home inspection on online as I was researching for a home inspector. I saw a sample report, it was very detailed. I read his reviews on multiple site, and such high reviews. So called him up on a house we had in escrow, this house to us looked perfect and we thought we only needed slight repairs.Well Jerrold was so good on looking at the smallest details, he pointed out safety issues we did not see and concerns. His report was so detailed on each issue. I also liked as he was finding them he was pointing them out to me. Well we backed out of the house which would have been a lemon buy. Couple of months later we had another house in escrow, again I called Scheidt Home Inspection. The flip house that looked turn key had some issues that Jerrold found, but this house thank goodness was better than the last. We were able to submit a repair list to the buyer. I used him for a home inspection on an old home by FCC, and initially thought he was through and provided a good yelp review. Unfortunately, he missed a blockage in the sewer that ended up being caused by a root infested, old clay sewer line. How he missed the blockage during his inspection, I still do not know, because we discovered immediately when we could not take a shower without the water pooling around our feet. There were also clear and visible signs that the sewer was an issue, but he failed to identify and alert me to it. Sadly, I now know that this area of Fresno is known for it's old clay sewer lines. I feel Jerrold should have advised me of this in his report, or the several times that I spoke with him prior to and after the inspection. Why he did not advise me of this inherent problem is still a mystery and source of sleepless frustration, and also cost me $4600 to repair. read more

If you are buying a home in the area, make sure you hire this guy to come out and do an inspection. He came up to Oakhurst, CA from Fresno and not only did visual inspections but checked every outlet, behind the walls where there was an access panel to plumbing, crawled the roof, and did thermostatic gauging for the propane heaters. Wonderfully detailed explanations in his report and great communication post inspection. Walked us through his findings and provided a lot of reference photos within the report. We felt so comfortable with our understanding of the property after Jerrold came out. He is also very knowledgeable on home repairs/maintenance and will lay out suggestions of proper repair where needed. We were unable to be present during the home inspection and it did not matter. It took Jerrold 15 mins just to gain access, not to mention it was a very hot day. He could have easily said not accessible and skipped it. So I appreciate that.
