I hate leaving poor reviews, however the inspection by TNT Certified Home Inspector has left me…read moreover 5K in the hole within 2 weeks of moving in. In the initial inspection, the attic was 'cleared' by Sherley with a comment stating that 'insulation was always recommended' but otherwise, everything was A-ok. I hired someone to blow insulation into the attic, only to find out that the ductwork was exposed and leaking my cold air into the attic instead of my home. This was all visible and obvious - however Sherley did not catch this prior to finalizing the home sale. His words were: "My wife is a realtor - and she was tired of having sales drop. So I do what I can to really look at the home." At the time, I thought it was a weird comment, but figured he meant it in a way that meant he was trying to be honest and help the buyer. What it really meant was that he only looked at the superficial issues like the door not closing completely and the sink pipe not draining correctly and did his best to make the sale go through. He completely missed the attic, resulting in a repair that will cost me 5K just 12 days after I purchased this home. If he just looked through the attic hatch he would quickly realize that the ducts were missing insulation and that the air was significantly colder in the attic than in the house because of duct leakage. I really hate writing poor reviews, because I honestly believe Sherley is a good guy. However as an inspector, I would have to say please look elsewhere and don't let this experience happen to you.
