I'm very familiar with how office visits go, as I have lived in 3 different states, and am now 29 years old. I went in for a free consultation that was advertised on the website. While sitting down for my consultation, Dr. Racine arrogantly spoke of his expertise, how there are few doctors like him, and spoke about how important his practice was. None of these things I doubted, but his arrogance contradicted all of the Jesus centered art work in his office and mission trips he spoke of. I spoke with him about all the tension and pain I was carrying daily in my back and neck due to a recent miscarriage. The grief was giving me daily physical pain. He said that it was possible for me to leave the office with some relief from my pain. I told him I wasn't expecting any x-rays to be done or any adjustments that day, but that I was there for the consultation. He said he understood and then went on about how he wouldn't need x-rays to do a few simple things that he does for people when he doesn't have equipment when he goes on mission trips. Again, reiterating that I could leave pain free. I agreed, not thinking at all we were moving away from what was included in the consultation. He never explained, spoke up, or mentioned once that he was going to be rendering services that would require payment. He took his time with me, moving very slowly, doing minor adjustments all over, including both sides of my lower back, hips, and buttocks area. I trusted that this was a man of God, and was in no way being inappropriate-- let alone that I would be charged for this.I was the last appointment of the day and watched Dr. Racine cowardly glance at me as the receptionist told me I owed $160, then he left the office. I proceeded to ask for an explanation and even ended up in tears trying to understand how I could be expected to pay that price for a free consultation. She threatened to turn me into collections. I had to beg her to let me break up the fee into two payments. I left the office so confused as to how I could be misled my someone I thought had my best interest in mind. I had never paid more than $35 for an ATLAS chiropractor visit. I've lived in 3 different states and received care in all of them. I wanted to speak with Dr. Racine before I made my other payment of $100. When I was finally able to get him on the phone, he interrupted me, to speak over and berate me. He accused me of being irresponsible, just trying to dodge paying my bill, and accused me of being a victim. When he was finished speaking childishly and unlike any grown man should ever speak to his client, let alone a young woman, I asked him if he could give me the same courtesy to speak to him with my perspective. He said angrily that I had 1 minute to speak. I do not say this lightly, or without careful thought to what this review could do to someone's business. Run away. I have never been spoken to more nastily by a human being. As a mother who is still in mourning, this man took what he knew about me and accused me of living as a victim and told me that "misery loves company." He told me that he was "too busy, and too important to deal with people like me." The arrogance and emotional immaturity of this man is astounding. I don't know what his personal life is like to make him have such a hateful attitude towards someone he barely knows, but this man should not be in a position where he has the power to demean other human beings, extort them for money, and do it all with God's name attached to it. This man is a coward, has predator like behaviors, and is not capable of having a civilized conversation with a patient that questions him in any facet. His anger problems should be addressed. I will pay my bill, and spend the rest of my life lived in Florida warning anyone who will listen to never step into this office.
