This space is used to teach coding to kids as well as special events. In my case, I was there to listen to a series on technology in Indianapolis from several guest speakers. The space lends itself to small gatherings of people.. probably 50-70 at the most, with enough space for food/drinks and tables along the back. A couple of breakout rooms exist that can be closed, but it's very much an open concept kind of place.

Our experience with the school he picked left us very leery about computer certification. Walking into Iron Yard, I could feel the true interactive nature of the school. The offices are open and airy and had a really laid back but creative feel. My daughter took coding classes here. At 13 she doesn't have strong background in coding but after a 4 weeks class, I could see the growth in her and her knowledge of all the work that goes into building a webpage. I am very appreciative for the programs offered by the Iron Yard and would definitely recommend those looking to enhance their knowledge in building websites or creating apps that this is the place to be.

Yet put SO little effort into the kids or even teachers selection. My kids kindergarten teacher was fresh out of school, zero experience, no kids herself... & didnt seem anyone with experience was helping her out enough. She was clueless about most basic things that most other teachers do with kids this young... ZERO communication with parents... zero work sent home.... no weekly updates or emails.... hardly no daily grading or paper checking. I wasnt even allowing to come in and check things out for myself. I never had ANY idea what they were working on. I even suggested all this & just got sarcastic responses from everyone saying their doing their best. Also...the teacher herself, Ms. Selerno, made it sound like my kid was such a problem child & constantly in trouble. But my kid would always explain to me later that she never listened when something was wrong or when someone else was the one picking & bullying her... but shed catch only the end of it... after my kid reacted, and only call out my kid every time. My 5 year old literally said she feels like her teacher dont like her. I was heartbroken she said that...which means she felt that. Even in class pictures of them working... that the teacher would post... i saw my kid was sitting in the back of the class with her chair facing AWAY from everyone. LITERALLY. But usually if a kid is always acting up or hard to stay on track... youd think they'd put them up front & keep them close. Thats when I made up a reason to pull her out immediately.

I saw a sponsored Facebook ad for a free Intro to Coding class at Eleven Fifty Academy and signed up. This class took place on a Saturday inside Launch Fishers, and more than 40 students showed up. It was a diverse group but we all shared a common interest in learning more about coding. No experience is required! The instructors explain the basics of code and walk you through step-by-step as you code on your own. It's done on a free online tool so you can take home your coding masterpiece and continue to practice. Breakfast and lunch is provided and admission counselors are on-site if you want to learn more about a career in coding and enrolling in their classes. There is zero pressure to sign up, so if you're like me and just want to get your feet wet, you won't be judged.

The instructors and learning teams are all fantastic and super encouraging. I'm not going to lie, there's definitely a learning curve, especially if you have no coding experience. But I promise if you put in the work you'll be amazed at what you can learn in a short amount of time. EFA is always updating their coursework to keep up with current technologies. Their career team members are awesome and you get a lifetime career support! I know a few people that have gotten jobs BEFORE they graduate. I have put my job search on hold because I found that I enjoy web development. And I'm not at all nervous about NOT finding a job. Another plus is that you can either do the 12-week full time course or the 24-week course. I am able to work my full time job; we meet twice a week and every other Saturday. At the time I'm writing this review, EFA is currently 100% virtual. So you can live anywhere and attend. Ok,I know I'm starting to sound like a sales pitch/advertisement. If you are interested, I would attend one of their free classes. :D

Metal detectors & key-fobs on sight, for 8 years, I've entrusted the supervision of my littles to those at this center. It's a family. They take into consideration your children's' dietary needs, religious practices and do their best accommodate parents overall. Andrea is the current director and is doing a great job with her leadership! One of the best educators works here as well; Patricia has a way with kiddos like I've never seen. Oh! It's situated on Indy's canal so the views inside of the infant room are so pretty and the bigger littles take walks/rides on the canal on a normal basis. Their recently renovated playground is perfectly tailored as well. Parking is on West St. & can get pretty congested but for safety reasons, this is the way it has to be. All in all, this childcare center has my trust & I'd recommend it time & time again.

The school was also excited for me to continue my education journey by being attentive initially. Two enrollment issues were very difficult to resolve as ACE does not provide proper support. I understand the school is more cost-effective by decreasing overhead with staff, but when your "advisor" never reaches out or provides a response, one of two things is happening: They don't care, or they are overworked and can't manage the workload. Additionally, the studies did not meet the professional requirements that one would consider necessary for the course. For example, I was taking an organizational behavior course, and the entire course was based on the triple bottom line: what the organization is doing for the community and the environment. These are fundamental aspects of any organization but are not the entirety of its behavior. The course had little added value for my professional journey. The course load is manageable, but if someone takes more than one course per semester, which they recommend, it's not manageable. If you are working, forget about it. I was surprised that ACE doesn't follow the norm of two courses that are done one at a time per semester. Someone told me long ago that you get what you pay for. Lesson learned: a costly one at that. If you are thinking of going to ACE, I would encourage you to weigh your options and look at other schools that offer better program structures.
