They were very helpful on the phone and set up dates for driving lessons and they even pick him up at school or at the house or at his job if he were working. They made it really easy for parents who work and can't always drive their kids to where they need to be during work hours. My son was able to complete the required driving hours and they even set up the drivers test with the DMV. Kirt was my son's instructor and my son had a good time learning from him. Despite asking in advance, I wasn't told until after class started that externship sites were in San Jose and Martinez, which are up to 50 miles from El Cerrito. Former students warned that these externships offered little real phlebotomy experience. Tasks were limited to labeling urine cups rather than drawing blood, forcing many students to return for additional training just to meet licensing requirements. After attending one three-hour session I withdrew only to receive a threatening email from the payments department about external collections. The school claimed I owed over $500, which they later reduced to $213 only after I submitted GPS data proving I had left early because the school charges by the hour and the instructor falsely claimed we were dismissed on time. Even the instructor seemed frustrated, noting she had to bring her own water for students (no fountains or sinks) and received little support. While this program might not meet the legal definition of a scam, its misleading advertising, inaccurate timelines, vague communication, and hostile billing practices certainly make it feel like one. I strongly recommend avoiding the El Cerrito location because it offers the bare minimum for licensure, not the skills or support needed to succeed.

Having a solid block from 8am - 6pm at summer camp for 3 weeks was a nice throwback the the old, pre-pandemic normal days. My kids (ages 5 and 8) loved the hands-on STEM projects and outdoor time at the nearby playgrounds. We loved that they were able to make new friends, play and have some Mandarin language exposure. Weekly photos of what the kids did at camp were also shared which was nice because often times they forget details of their day and it helped to facilitate more conversation about their days. Su Yun was also really great about ensuring (as best they could) a safe environment with all the COVID prevention protocols in place. The summer adventure was completed without any issues or outbreaks. The staff was also so thoughtful! My younger son's birthday happened while at camp. We didn't say anything and then he came home with a small little goody bag of snacks and small little treats like pencils/erasers. It was a nice little surprise gift. They offer Tot Swim (including on Sundays) which is honestly such a fun addition. We called ahead of time with a bunch of questions as newbies and inquired about walk-ins. We received answers to everything we needed to be set up with success for our first swim. There's also a super cool vending machine by the bathrooms/showers/changing areas that offers nutritious pre and post snacks, goggles, sunscreen, and I think swim caps too. The indoor pool is super spacious and everyone was respectful (of lanes, hehe). You're able to utilize pool accessories during the swim hours and there's lifeguards on duty with a stop watch to let you know when Tot time is over. We had around an hour and 15 or so. There's an awesome grass area and epic park next door. Parking is accessible in front of center. Can't wait to return! Definitely check the swim calendar online before heading over.

What I didn't expect was that the wonderful teachers at Orkidz would start to feel like extended family to our baby. Before enrolling, I had heard plenty of horror stories about daycares where staff seemed disengaged or unhappy in their jobs. That has absolutely not been our experience here. The women at Orkidz genuinely LOVE children, and it shows every single day in the warmth, patience, and care they bring to the classroom. We toured several daycares before Orkidz, but the moment we walked in for our tour with Ms. Sheila, we were sold because no other place could compare. We were amazed with the facility, their library, their beautiful outdoor space, and the impressive commercial-style kitchen where they make yummy food for the kids. As for our son, I had prepared myself for difficult drop-offs and lots of crying. Instead, after a brief moment of confusion on his very first day (not sadness or separation anxiety because the teachers got to distracting him right away!), he settled in and adjusted to daycare immediately. He loves being around his little friends, is excited to go every morning, and is all smiles every time we come back to pick him up. Our son loves all the teachers, his face lights up when he sees them every morning, and he is especially attached to his primary teacher, Ms. Azadeh. They also have fun and engaging classes and we absolutely love the daily updates and pictures! In just a couple of months, we've already seen our now toddler become more social, curious, and comfortable around other children and adults. He also eats so well there and they have a variety of homecooked meals that I could never replicate. If you are looking to take piano lessons, I highly recommend Laura. She is kind, patient, passionate and dedicated to teaching you how to play the piano the right way. This is a nice music school. It's not too big or too small. They have 5 rooms for lessons and they offer a variety of lessons with musical instruments including the piano, violin, drum, voice, and guitar. Both Lina (owner) and Judy (receptionist) run the school quite well and they are organized and professional. The only problem is that this studio doesnt have adequate insulation, which feels even hotter than it is (especially during the heat wave we are going through). I hope the building managers take this seriously and get the problem fixed soon. I recommend dressing light and drinking lots of water to stay hydrated. I highly recommend Albany Music School. Very nice place and well lite. There are 3 piano rooms and a nice waiting area :) I take private lessons w/Lina who is such a cutie pie. Since this is my first time taking lessons she is soooooo helpful and very pleasant. She goes over everything with you and reassures you :) I love her!!!!! The monthly fee to attend the school is $240. That includes the private lessons, the materials and they opportunity to come in any time and practice and listen to others. They also have other lessons available. I know for sure when I go, there's this little boy who plays the violin. He's really good too :)
