We were a bit discouraged with the young group piano class as during the down time in the class our daughter was instructed to color. While our youngest did not continue her interest in piano, even after switching to private lessons, our oldest daughter continued with drum lessons. At first, it was great, she really enjoyed it. Frustrating at times that the teacher she worked with for her private lessons kept changing or the teacher would leave. But we didn't say anything and went with the flow. Last summer she was ecstatic to be invited to an all girl "rock band." After members continued to leave and a few others joined, our daughter's voice continued to not be listened to. She felt ignored by the teacher, the teacher wouldn't consider her song requests - even though she was willing to compromise. The teacher much preferred the young group of girls play club like music (that's mostly electronic) instead of music more appropriate for a band to play. She missed rehearsal to visit an immediate family member in the hospital - only to come to the next rehearsal to learn song choices for the next performance were made without her and she was told she couldn't listen to the song before practicing and told to just try and keep up. When trying to talk with the owner about our concerns. We were told she'd look into alternative options. Only then to receive an email that she's been kicked out of the band and suddenly her private teacher was no longer going to be available for lessons - when she had a lesson literally the day before and he had great things to say as well as "see you next week!" It was clear to us we were getting pushed out. We tried to talk with the owner over the phone to discuss what happened but she refused and only wanted to email. It's disappointing as our daughter loves music and it was made clear to us that Bach to Rock is a safe and fun learning environment for children. It clearly wasn't for our daughter as she felt ostracized and instead of stepping in to ensure she felt welcomed, they kicked her out. Our daughter is quiet kid who never once misbehaved and was incredibly hurt feeling like she was treated like this by adults she looked up to and trusted.

This new location (in the basement of the building) is essentially an open room that is large enough to feel comfy, but small enough that your kid can't run too far away. The cozy carpet almost makes it feel like you're hanging out in a friend's basement. The teachers absolutely love kids and remember every kids' name. It's super impressive. Every minute of the class has a special activity -- different songs, activities, etc. They have drums, scarves, fun lights for a dance party, a lullaby to end with, etc. The teacher we have is super positive and allows kids to truly express themselves and interpret the activities however they want. I've enjoyed meeting the parents here too and all have been super nice. We did a trial with a friend and immediately signed up.

They seemed to be running around like they were understaffed, but I am not sure. Our class was scheduled to start at 7:30, but it didn't get started until right after 8pm. I'm all for giving people a few extra minutes to come in and get settled, but 30 plus minutes is a bit much for a scheduled class. We were rushed the entire time and had 30 minutes less to complete our paintings. Overall I enjoyed myself because I like painting, but I'm not sure I would go back if the experience would end up being similar. I sat next to a drunk couple and did not get to finish my painting fully. The drunk couple sucked, but I understand we can't control how others act when drinking, but we can definitely control when the class starts and being set up better.

We started by picking out our paint colors and then learning how to properly combine them to get ready to put on our board. They showed us different examples of how we could pour the paint to come up with different designs/looks. It is so cool to see how many different ways you could take your creation. It was so cool to see the finished product from the day and I'm even more excited to see how it looks once they finish their work (I think the boards get a resin finish and not sure what else!) We had Tara and she helped make the experience super fun. She helped with paint combinations and also gave thorough instructions throughout, so we felt confident when we had to put paint to canvas. The owner was in the studio as well and she was so friendly and enjoyable to talk to while working on our art. I feel like there could be so many cool combinations, and I wanna come back to make another project in the future! I'd run into an issue but I called the studio, and the woman who answered was super friendly. Karlee, the instructor, was very patient and welcoming. She gave all instructions clearly and made sure we all were caught up before moving on to the next, and still ended the class on time. Their drink menu is great and we all loved the mimosas. The studio is very beautiful with all past paintings on the wall. I was also impressed by the size of the studio. I was told that they need at least 3 people to sign up to run a class, so make sure you grab a few friends and go there!!

At some point I guess we ran short of time because the instructor sped up severely. None of the painters were anywhere near the stage that she was talking about. She kept saying don't worry I'll repeat it. Well the repeating was a quick listing of all the things we should be doing, with no chance of actually doing those... like reading a grocery list very quickly. And the urgency that we need to take a group picture now and we could finish our paintings after taking the picture. This gave us about 3 minutes as they were taking our paints and brushes... basically kicking us out the door... that really left a bad taste and ruined the whole night. I understand that the employees would like to go home, but can we maybe have a steady pace instead of waiting for the next step in the beginning and then sprint at the end.
