Every class has been a struggle--he gets anxious beforehand and ends up crying through the entire lesson. What's most concerning is that at other pools, he's confident, happy, and able to swim independently. But as soon as we come here, he becomes completely miserable. After two years of trying, we decided to stop lessons. Unfortunately, we were told we still have to pay for an additional 30 days, plus a $50 registration fee--even though we no longer wish to continue. Overall, this has been a very disappointing experience, and I wouldn't recommend it.

I just love that all the Goldfish Swim Schools in the Indianapolis area all look the same and…read morefunction the same. This consistency is greatly appreciated, by me but especially by my kids, who are still learning to swim, so they grasp at any shred of comfort and familiarity that they can as they conquer their fear of water. This Goldfish, like the one in Carmel, is clean and fun and mellow. The pool is heated to 90 degrees and feels like slipping into a warm bath. Ahhhhhh. The showers, which sit adjacent to the pool and are used to rinse off after the lesson, are also nice and warm. We haven't had lessons at this particular Goldfish yet (we go to a different one), but we've been here for a play date and had a wonderful time. There is a snack bar here, with food items that you can purchase, such as ice cream bars, chips and small candies (in case you need to offer a bribe to get your kid in the water. Hey, it happens.)

Each room has a bench in it and a hook on the wall. It is nice to be able to change in a room instead of a wet locker room or bath room!! This was a big plus for me. The pool room was very warm. And the water was even warmer. The water felt like bath water, 90 degree to be exact. The whole pool was 4'2" deep. And has a bench along the side. It was nice to sit there with my 10 month old son. He liked standing there and holding onto the side of the pool. The staff was very helpful. They were fitting each child with a life jacket, if they needed it. During our swim one of the lifeguards jumped in to help a little boy who was struggling to swim. I wish they had a location closer to the Westside of Indianapolis cause I would love to take my son for swim lessons. With last night traffic it took us almost an hour and a half to get there.

I had my first Stony Creek Swim Center experience yesterday. My three month old niece had her first…read moreWater Babies class. I was really impressed with it! The center is in an unassuming building with ample parking in their lot. You walk in and the scent of poop water hits you -- but it's much better than at hotels. After a check in at the front desk and a short explanation of how things worked, we were ready to change for class. The front room has chairs facing big windows so guests can watch the classes and stay dry. There are cubbies for your stuff out in the open as well as a lost and found section and plenty of magazines in case you need reading material. Three changing stalls with curtains and three individual bathrooms with changing table, toilet and sink are available. Right after classes get out, these can fill fast so you may have a wait. I went in to the pool area for the Water Babies class to take photos, which they allow you to do. My sister and my niece enjoyed roughly 30 minutes of singing songs and acclimating babies to the water. They practiced moving on their stomachs as well as their backs, had some tummy time on a floating mat, and practiced cues for swimming and gripping the walls. It was really cute to watch, but more than that, I could tell the instructor loves what she does and knows her stuff when it comes to babies in the water. I caught glimpses of other classes -- toddlers to maybe 6 year olds or so -- and the instructors were kind and knowledgeable and the kids were having fun. I'd give this place 4 stars on a first impression, but wouldn't be surprised if they move up to 5 in the coming weeks as I get to know them more. :)

I was looking for…read moreprivate/semi private lessons and we couldn't have been more pleased with the growth our children had with their swimming from these lessons. We did the 20 minute semi private and it was a perfect amount of time. We did 2-3 lessons per week for about a month. It has worked wonders! Eric knows not only how to teach swimming, but how to work with little kids. Out of all the $ we have ever spent on our children, I can honestly say this was the best investment we have ever made. We will continue these lessons throughout the year to keep them comfortable.

He meets each person where they are, doesn't force or cajole, but knows just the right words to say to give them encouragement and confidence. I was terrified that my daughter would scream and cry and refuse to get in. Now every Wednesday she pops out of bed in the morning and says she "can't wait to go see Mr Eric" tonight. She's grown to love the water and love her swim lessons.
