Dr Liu took all my pain away and gave me back my lifting abilities all while treating me like an actual person, not like a dollar sign as i had been in Erie. he explained the surgery completely, and the team set up everything from my hotel as well as travel to and from the hotel to surgery center. i have often spoke with folks debating on getting surgery done and hands down the most amazing place i've had work done. and because of that, i went to them again last year for detrimental cervical spine issues. In early 2025 was told my spinal column c5-c3 was unstable and in x-rays you could see it tipping off to the left. the pain i endured was so bad, i often thought about just ending existence. my pain was as if someone put red hot coals under my skin and into my muscles from my skull down to my lower lt region and across my entire back and into my shoulder and down both arms...and the pain was 24/7 with zero relief for months. Dr. Bitan preformed a double discectomy with the insertion of 2 cadaver bones and a mesh around c3-5. I INSTANTLY had relief of all that pain. recovery went well as i was back to doing the bulk of my normal life within a couple days and as the pain subsided from the surgery (he really had to move things around as i have a large, muscular neck) i've been accomplishing more and more of my life again (this spring i will go back to cutting firewood) and i've even picked up a few NEW hobbies in life.... I came to Dr. Joe with the mindset that this was my last stop before I would need to get surgery, because I could barely walk or even put socks on myself without someone's help. Being in my young 20's, this was clearly not the route I wanted to take (surgery). After in depth conversations with Dr. Joe, he felt confident that in time I could be back to my normal routine (I am extremely active and love to workout/hike/ etc.) with the right program. So we got to work. And work it was, but well worth it. To this day I will always say that if it wasn't for him, I would not be working out the way I am at 36 weeks pregnant or able to do a lot of the things I love to do. It's funny because even after knowing him for all these years, he never ceases to amaze me with his knowledge and extraordinary capabilities. Most recently, I started to notice weakness in my left side. I couldn't left anything with my left arm. I first noticed it when I tried to lift my three pound laptop with only my left hand. No matter how hard I tried the laptop would not budge. I knew something was wrong, so I made an appointment with a neurologist. The neurologist confirmed that I had weakness in my left side and was concerned. He ordered a bunch of tests, some very painful, to rule out some of the more scary possibilities. After the MRIs and visits to his office...he discovered...it was...NOTHING. Nothing. He said the tests said I was fine! (besides a minor pinched nerve in my elbow) Basically, he said I could go home happy with the knowledge that I was 100% healthy. One problem. I STILL COULDN'T LIFT THINGS WITH MY LEFT SIDE. That is where the always brilliant Dr. Joe comes in. I went to visit him and told him about my problem. He asked a few questions, checked my strength, and then did a quick adjustment of my neck. This is where the miracle comes in. Immediately after receiving my adjustment I was able to lift things with my left side. I couldn't remember the last time I was able to do that. As soon as I got home, I passed the ultimate test: I was able to lift my laptop over my head. For the first time in my life, the left side of my body felt STRONGER than the right side. I am continuing to see Dr. Joe for this issue and am feeling better every day. You don't have to live with pain, discomfort, or the inability to do simple tasks like lifting objects with your left hand. If you are having any kind of pain or just want to prevent any future spine issues, go see Dr. Joe or Dr. Briana. I HIGHLY recommend them both.
