We called the Auctioneer from Schoolhouse Auctions to evaluate my in- laws property for on-line auction and he said that he would accept the project. He then was scheduled to meet my husband at their home to start inventory of the items for auction, and was a no show. My husband tried reaching him by phone, leaving messages, with no return phone call. He called the office and they said that they would leave a message for him to call us back. We were ghosted by everyone at Schoolhouse Auctions with no returned phone calls. If our property wasn't a large enough project for them to take on, then the professional thing to do would be to call my husband to say that, instead of ghosting us. We were left with a very poor impression of Schoolhouse Auctions and sadly we will not be able to recommend their business to anyone we meet. read more

This is an odd little place. As the name indicates, it used to be a school. Actually, my parents, in their 80's went to grade school here. LOL Their auctions are on Saturday nights, beginning at 6p. Somedays they have way cool stuff to bid on, other days it's slim pickings, but keep in mind it depends on what YOU are looking for. Somedays there are a lot of people and the prices are high. Some days their are less people and the prices are lower, or higher, depending on who wants what. It's a c**p shoot, but the hit or miss is what makes goin to the auction house fun. read more

I participated in one of their online auctions. I was successful in winning a really nice sword at a really good price. They charged my Credit Card as expected. 7 days later I contacted them to inquire about the mailing charges, they said they're preparing it and I would be emailed with the cost. I called again several days later, their response was someone will be getting back to me soon. Days go by and no call so I reached out to them again, this time I was told that some one Walked Off! with the sword or was sent to sent to someone in error but more than likely it was stolen and my CC would be credited. How devastating to have someone walk away with a sword from their premises. Do they have an open door policy?, sounds sketchy to me. A week later I check my CC statement and no credit so I called them again. The woman(.), that answered the phone told me she forgot and wanted my name and phone #, I told her that I gave her my invoice # and all that information should be in their files. She got nasty with me and told me that she would AGAIN apply the credit, AGAIN??. Won an auction from this place 1/4/2021 was sent an invoice with my name and address. Tried to communicate with this company and messages went unanswered until they told me items were shipped. They shipped my items to another state. I am getting no response to any messages over the internet or by phone. Currently trying to find ways to get a refund. This place is the place to go if you are looking for deals. It's like pawn stars when you never know what is going to come through that door... but it's not a pawn shop it's an auction, but really you never know what is going to be at the auction, I believe they list all of the items they are selling online. The inventory has seemed to take a dive in the last year, and many of the regulars no longer come, but the crowd has not thinned any. It seems that all those new shows, like Storage Wars, Pawnstars, American pickers, etc., have inspired a new army of faithfuls to this place. As excited as I was to find this place when I needed it, the fun has worn off. Most everything sells for more than you would think it was worth, and everyone is supposedly an expert on its resale price so there are few deals to be had. I've had better luck on ebay. They take consignments, estates, vehicles, storage lockers, expired food and beauty products. They will come to your home, clean out the "good stuff", haul it to their facilities, store it and then, organize it for sale. From what I've been told, they take a healthy percentage of the selling price. It would be to your benefit to inventory everything you give them to sell, as a friend learned the hard way when they lost her truckload of furniture and didn't compensate her for it because neither one of them had proof of the items. The facilities, i.e. the old school house, is in a lot of disrepair, and you'll find sitting inside uncomfortably hot and sweaty in the summer, and bone chillingly cold in the winter, as Pat, the auctioneer, either doesn't want to or can't afford to insulate the building and turn on/up the a/c or heat. It also doesn't help that part of the school house is being rented out as very low rent apartments. I'm quite peeved at the auctioneer's daughter, who used to be quite helpful, but now, I have to wonder if they're trying to squeeze every penny of profit regardless of how they do it. There is the option to leave an absentee bid by writing down the item you want and the price you are willing to pay. I wrote down in great detail the new in box, items I wanted, asked if she understood what I had written down, if she could read my writing, read it to her, and what I received was two cardboard boxes of used, random items for an exorbitant price. I'm not sure how you can make such a mistake unless you're completely deaf and illiterate or just plain dishonest. There is a small restaurant run by the world's slowest people. The food is decent and priced so cheap, you have to wonder how they can afford to buy the ingredients, cook it and pay the rent. Unless I see something I desperately want and my friends will be there to bid on it for me, this place isn't worth my time anymore. read more

**Created this account just to warn others** I would steer clear of this place. I purchased a vehicle from them online and was promised the appropriate paperwork would be included in the vehicle when the shipping agent came to pick it up. It wasn't. There was no bill of sale or title. I had to contact the owner to get him to send me a very basic bill of sale but he "swears" the title was in the car when he shipped. After a few weeks of looking for it on my end he admits that he has the title and even sends me a picture of it. I tell him I'm unable to register the vehicle or drive it until he sends it to me. The title never arrives. I'm going to be out close to $600 in title fees, insurance and bonds just to fix this. As it relates to the vehicle, which he described as being in perfect condition, almost $2k later I was able to repair the drivetrain problems he failed to disclose. I wouldn't trust this guy or his business or even consider giving him a penny of my money unless you just don't have any expectations and don't mind possibly throwing away good money. read more

When my mother passed away and i called them because i had no idea what to do with all these years of belongings she had accumulated in her house. They treated me so good! They came to the house and packed it up and took it to the auction. They were able to sell it all and get a good price. I was very happy with how easy it was to do this. The family treated me fairly and were very nice. read more

I agree with Syngin A. I needed to have some things auctioned and was searching for an auctioneer who had the time to do it. Since these people advertised in the Lafayette Journal and Courier I thought I would give them a try. I had struck up a conversation with a lady at the grocery store about finding an auctioneer and she said, "Just don't use Schoolhouse Auctions. They will cheat you." I was in a hurry and decided to give them a try, anyway. My mistake! They came to my house and picked up my things. I didn't send everything and told them we would see how this first bunch of things went and if it did well I would send more later. I made it perfectly clear that I wanted to be there when my things were auctioned and they agreed to a date a few weeks away. You guessed it....when I went up for the auction they informed me that they had sold my things the previous week and the check would be coming in the mail. When I got the check it was for $63.00. They included the list of things that they had auctioned and what the items brought. Only a small fraction of the things I had sent were accounted for. There was NO JUNK among the things I sent. Every item was is perfect condition. If they sold my things in box lots then they are either lazy or stupid, but I am more inclined to believe the "dishonest" characterization that Syngin A. made. While I was in their office complaining about their having sold my things on a week when I had made it very clear that I couldn't be there another person was in there also complaining about a similar situation that seemed to me, as an interested bystander, to have had a similar experience. Apparently, mine was not an isolated experience. My recommendation to you is that if you are buying, and therefore in control, that might be one thing. If you are selling, you would do way better having a yard sale! Avoid these people at all cost! read more
